hysterectomy

I was just diagnosed with endometrial adeno carcinoma and need a hysterectomy. My Gyn said I need a cancer Doctor to be there when they do the hysterectomy to make sure there is no cancer anywhere. They said Stage 1. My nerves are shot out - with all things going through my mind. I am 54. Just wondering if women have gone through similar situations and how the turn out was. The Dr's said they have to check the lymph nodes when they do the hysterectomy.
I had a complete hysterectomy a year and a half ago. I had uterine fibroid. My doctor recommended removal of my ovaries too, since my sister had breast cancer about 5 years ago. Since cancer runs in my family, I was very hesitant about starting hormonal treatment. I am not taking any hormones at the moment. Since my operation I had a terrible time falling asleep and staying asleep. I tried medicine that my doctor game me but I do not like to take them.
I HAD A HYSTERECTOMY 7 WEEKS AGO,I STILL HAVE 1 OVARY LEFT. I HAVE BEEN HAVING TERRIBLE MOOD SWINGS AND ANXIETY SINCE THE SURGERY.ONE MINUTE IM AS HAPPY AS CAN BE AND THEN THE NEXT I FEEL LIKE THROWING THINGS AT THE WALL AND THE NEXT IM BALLING MY EYES OUT. I'VE NEVER HAD A PANIC ATTACK BEFORE BUT NOW I DO, I THINK. SOMETIMES WHEN IM DRIVING I GET AN OVERWEALMING FEAR OF CRASHING OR HAVING SOME KIND OF FREAK ACCIDENT, LIKE AN OVERPASS CRASHING ON TO MY CAR.
Is it typical for someone to be mean and short-tempered when coming off of Xanax? My husband decided on his own that it was time to give it up (effects have caused us a lot of pain - emotional and financial). He's been tapering off now for a few days and is down to 1 2mg Xanax XR a day. He has changed from pleasant and easy going to miserable and very short-tempered. He snaps at the smallest thing and it's breaking my heart. My kids are feeling the effects too.
Hello, I was wondering if any of you all have been put on hormones after a total hysterectomy. My doctor says there are too many risks and I don't need them...I am 38. I don't know what to expect here 2 weeks after surgery, I keep waiting for a hotflash or something weird to happen. :) What can happen if I don't take them? I've had nightmares of growing hair on my face or my voice getting manly. Are my fears real? Can anyone share their experience or knowledge about hormones?
I am 4 months post larposcopic vaginal and abdominal hysterectomy, I still have my tubes and ovaries. I was suffering from endomitriosis, and still have a lump you can feel in my lower left abdomen. I had 2 C'sections previous to the hysterectomy. My problem is that since my surgery I was intimate with my spouse maybe 4 times and 2 of those times I became extremely ill, I had immediate severe pain, and was in abdominal pain for several days ( severe).

JewlsB - I am so sorry that you are also in post-hysterectomy HELL! I am still horrified by the fall-out from hysterectomy and that so many of these surgeries continue to be done. I cannot imagine being the sole breadwinner and trying to cope much less keep my job and be a single parent!! In addition to destroying my "sanity" and "intelligence" the surgery destroyed my YOUTHFUL appearance. I don't know about you but I aged overnight.
It seemed that bleeding was stopped when I quit taking Plavix a month or more ago. However, now it is starting somewhat agsin and a hysterectomy is scheduled for Nov. 2. I want to know if a hysterectomy after menopause has the usual problems - emotional, etc. as before menopause? Or could my bleeding be from another medicine? I do use Xanax.
I am considering a hysterectomy due to the blood loss every month (fatigue all the time!) but I am scared of the hormonal issues I will face afterwards!! I am 41 and a newlywed. Will a hysterectomy completly ruin my sex drive or my abilities to enjoy intercourse?
I am also taking Lexapro for depression and some low doses of Xanax. I have always hated xanax, but every doctor I have been to prescribes it for anxiety. It makes me sleepy and I think makes me feel more depressed. I'm starting weaning back down to get off the xanax. I'm still dragging and not feeling like my usual energetic self. We have a big family and next week is spring break. I'm kind of dreading it. I'm tired and want to curl up with a book and have everyone leave me alone!
I have been on xanax .5 mg 3 x a day for 7 years..yep 7 years...i was never aware that the drug was only used for short term used but here i am 7 years later and my dosage has never changed but latley ive noticed that my anxiety is getting worse...nothing in my life has changed exept for that im moving from my home town to a state that i know no one i am very exited and i cant wait but i noticed that i started to take one extra xanax every once in a while..
I had a hysterectomy about 6 months ago and my doctor has put me on Estradol 1mg and Estratest SOL and on top of that I take Ambien and Xanax 0.5 at night. I have been on these for about (combination) 3 months and lately been feeling tired, hot flashes, cant sleep (even though on ambien and xanax) I feel at night that I am having a panic attack and just not sure what is going on. Can someone please advise if they have these same things.
I had a total hysterectomy in March 2007, my doctor has put me on Estradiol 1mg with Estratest SOL along with ambien and xanax. I take all of these at night and here lately have been feeling bad. I cant sleep, feel tired all the time along with the hot flashes and the feeling of panic attacks (mostly at night) I would like to know if anyone has these same medications and if they feel like me.
Since I have had a hysterectomy I have been on a vivelle dot patch, I have experienced forgetfulness, leg swelling weight gain, edema in legs and I tried to wean myself off the patch however extreme depressin took over along with horrible thoughts unlike any I have had. I am age 50 and had hysterectomy at age 45--are the alzheimer like symptoms something I can overcome by getting off this patch and can I get off the patch or do I need to replace it with something else?
should i be concerned. the mg for xanax is .25. Just took one last night to help me sleep. Kinda to take the edge off...
I had a partial hysterectomy 2 years ago. Took everything but left ovaries. Started to develope abdominal pain and upper right quadrant pain. They removed my gall bladder in march of 08. As the pain got worse in my abdomin I had a transvagianl ultra sound. They found 4 ovarian cyst on right ovary that contain internal echoes due to a solid lesion. The left ovary has a complex ovarian mass with a solid componment. As well as small cyst. The pain is horrible. I can't eat.
A friend gave me a 1/2 of a xanax yesterday to help calm me. It worked great, almost immediate relief. I don't want to be dependent on drugs for the rest of my life. Are there any suggestions to what might be wrong with me? I am 35 yrs old. I have taken Paxil years ago and disliked it very much, it was also horrible withdrawl. I would like to be able to take something when I feel like I need it. The only way I can describe my feelings are severe, gonna rip your head off , PMS.
I take occasional Xanax and it works great for my occasional anxiety from treatment. I'm not on ADs because they absolutely did not agree with me. I left work early today too. Weakness is setting in for me too. I had my monthly blood test this afternoon so we'll see if it's anemia rearing it's ugly head or not. Good luck getting everything worked out.
I also take Levothyroxine, 75mcg every day and Xanax 0.5mg,2 to 3 times a day for panic and anxiety disorder. Could the sore nipples just be from weaning off Metoprolol since this hasn't bothered me before? A side note: I am not pregnant and do not get periods. Had a Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy about 5 years ago with several fibroid tumors removed.
I had a total thyroidectomy when I was 27 for papillary carcinoma. Oh I also had to have a total hysterectomy (still have ovaries) when I was 32. I was curious, in general, has anyone noticed menopausal symptoms being more severe and earlier onset due to taking synthroid and having a hysterectomy? I have 3 sisters and we are all close in age... 53, 52, 51 and 50. I am the only one who appears to have started meno and I have had very strong symptoms.
He said it is just menopause and to exercise. I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago due to polps and have cysts on my ovaries now. What else if anything can I do to feel better?
It all started with an Anxiety attack, which I currently take xanax for when needed. After going through blood tests, Cat scans, MRI's, Stress tests, and ultrasound, they ruled out my heart (still not convinced but..) What they did find is that I am severly anemic, and they also found a 13 cm fibroid in my uterus, in which I am scheduled for a partial hysterectomy in 2 weeks.
My problem is that I never feel good. I am on meds for depression, a mood stabilizer, Xanax for panic and anxiety attacks, and hormone replacement therapy, as I had a full hysterectomy 10 years ago. I feel like I have a plague! I am about 40 pounds overweight now, and it seems that no amount of diet and exercise make me feel any better. Is there life after thyroid removal? Is there a special diet for people like me? I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Any suggestions?
I never had a panic attack before until I got sick last April (which resulted in a hysterectomy). I now suffer from 3-4 attacks a day. I swear it had something to do with the surgery, but doctors say no. I'm taking .50 mg xanax 3 X/daily and resperidone in the evening. I hate taking any meds. The attacks have hit me while driving as well, which is very scary. I thought many times I was having a heart attack. I hope you feel better - take care.
I was taking 300-400 mg daily for 2 months for pain post bad hysterectomy a year ago. I just discovered drug dependency a couple of weeks ago when I quit taking the drug for a day due to no pain. I had the worst night of my life and got relief almost immediately after taking the drug again. I have taken hydrophone, codeine, Vicodin, and others post surgery as the Dr recommended and have never had a problem with addiction.
I am also on respridal 1 mg to stablize my mood also xanax. They want to try Abilify but I am pre-diabetic and am afraid that would push me over the edge. I have no motivation and do nothing all day. I don't even know what I like when it comes to anything. I know I should exercisd, lose weight and get a life but I am stuck. After going on respridal I gained 40 pounds in three months, I also started hormone replacements due to a hysterectomy.
I am the wife of donzzz and i have ovarian cancer. I had a hysterectomy and 7 chemo therapy treatments of carbo/taxotere finishing up in August,2007. My ca125 went down to 4.5 and the doctor was hopeful. I got the cancer back this month much to everyone's surprise. I honestly don't think the cancer ever went away no matter what the count. My count now is 135 and had ascitis which also had last time. Both times had my stomach tapped.
