Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy uterus pregnancy

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn Do you still have your Uterus
Avatar f tn Not that i have heard. a hysterectomy causes early menopause which could give u pregnancy symptoms.
11840874 tn?1421504748 Pregnancy after hysterectomy is next to impossible / extremely rare. There have been some case reports of pregnancy after hysterectomy but the fetus cannot develop properly since the uterus (womb) has been removed. Even if you still had your uterus, most women no longer have the ability to get pregnant at age 55.
897990 tn?1248268956 Why on earth does she seem to think she needs a hysterectomy? I had a prolapsed uterus and gave birth to three healthy boys all a prolapse means is the uterus leans in the backwards position, techincally suposed to make it harder to concieve but not so with many many I know...why does she need a C section..all my babies wher vaginal births, just trying to understand...the C section may be needed for a host of reasons..
Avatar n tn the one thing is if you are planning considering a pregnancy I would urge you to see a high risk pregnancy dr as well as a neperologist (kidney specialist) our kidneys are so vital we dont want to comprimise them...a uterus removal is a hard surgery as far as recovery and emotions ..but you (anyone) can live quite well with out the uterus. Please update us when you can.
Avatar n tn Well I do have something to say about this whole pregnancy after having a partial hysterectomy situation. I am living proof of having a perfectly normal pregnacy after having a partial hysterectomy. I had a partial done when I was 22. I already had two little girls and I did not want anymore kids so I thought. I got married in 2004 to my high school sweetheart. In May of 2007 I had a 12lb 24in healthy baby boy and I had him at 35wks.
Avatar n tn without a uterus it would at this point be medically impossible to get pregnant, since pregnancy itself is defined as the fertilized egg impanting on the wall of the uterus. what your friend could do, if she had the money, would be to have her eggs fertilized outside of the womb and then carried by a surrogate mother. it would be her genetic child, but someone else would carry the baby.
Avatar n tn I have read that women can infact have an ectopic pregnancy after hysterectomy if the ovaries and fallopian tubes are left intact. I have also read that many ectopic pregnancys result in an abdominal pregnancy and can result in a live birth. A recent article posted by the New England Journal of Medicine reported an abdominal pregnancy after hysterectomy though it was terminated at 12 weeks. Does this open the possibility of having children for women that had to have a hysterectomy?
Avatar n tn You need to have your uterus to carry a pregnancy to term. If she/you ever become pregnant you will need it to be medically terminated, otherwise it can be fatal to the mother.
Avatar f tn Well, probably not. Even in a partial hysterectomy they usually remove part of your uterus right? So I wouldn't think so. Check with your Dr. to see for sure, but I doubt it. Sorry.
Avatar m tn If she had a hysterectomy, she can't be pregnant now. Especially, if she doesn't have her ovaries, she will have no egg to create an embryo. If she genuinely is pregnant now, she can't have had a hysterectomy.
1490116 tn?1304817137 Am a 52 yr old woman no period never had hysterectomy, tubal, however uterus really low. Am cramping a little. Is there a possibility of pregnancy?
Avatar n tn A 'partial hysterectomy' usually refers to removing the uterus and not the ovaries. Is that what you had? It takes a uterus to carry a baby. [If you still have your ovaries, your eggs and your husband's sperm could be used to create an embryo by in-vitro fertilization, which could be carried by a gestational carrier ("surrogate mother") to term for you.
804498 tn?1238100998 No you cannot get pregnant if you had a full hysterectomy. full hysterectomy means that your uterus has been completely removed including your ovaries etc. You cannot bear any more children yourself, you need a uterus to support a pregnancy and you don't have one. If you want to have a child with this man you can adopt or he can learn to love and embrace your children as part of his family.
Avatar f tn So did you take a pregnancy test? If you have an ectopic pregnancy, it's a serious matter.
274158 tn?1276347187 t control my bleeding they will have to remove my uterus and possibly my cervix (depending on how bad the bleeding is). She told me not to worry about menopause etc, because I will still have my ovaries. I already had one of my fallopian tubes and I still ovulate from both ovaries. I was wondering if there is anyone on this forum who can share any side effects from having their uterus removed. I have heard that your ovaries can die and cause you to go into early menopause.
Avatar f tn Although extremely rare, pregnancy can occur after hysterectomy when you still have one or both ovaries. They call it an "ectopic pregnancy" since it implants in a Fallopian tube or elsewhere in the abdomen (other than the uterus). If you are pregnant, you need to seek medical help as this can become a medical emergency.
Avatar n tn what is exactly left after having a full hysterectomy? And are there any chances of getting pregnant after having one?
Avatar n tn When you say partial hysterectomy, can you clarify what was taken? If you no longer have a uterus, no. The pregnancy (if by a miracle it happened) would never be viable. If you have your uterus and an ovary, then it's possible. Symptoms alone meant next to nothing though. Fatigue and cravings happen to ALL people in this world. Part of being alive. "Morning sickness" is technically ill named.
Avatar m tn I had a partial hysterectomy myself and have my right ovary but no bleeding. Now my question can u get pregnant or is there any procedure to help me get pregnant? I was 25 yrs. Old when I had my procedure done, I do have three children but the doctor that did my procedure was sued 6 yrs later for doing unnecessary procedures , I was living out of state and when I moved back home I was informed of this information and read newspaper article my mom saved me.
Avatar f tn Can I get pregnant with no uterus, no tubes but cervix and ovaries remain. I’m 45 and not using protection.
Avatar m tn Two weeks after her birth, I went to the emergency room to get a catheter because my bladder was so full (2 1/2 times capacity). They first thought we may need to do a hysterectomy if I continued to have problems urinating. Since it was just that one time, though, the doctors said we needed to wait until my uterus had shrunk back after the pregnancy. Three months later, I had the "lift" surgery due to uterine prolapse.
Avatar m tn im 39 years old i had a partial hysterectomy five years ago. I have two blood test and two urine test both neg. I have two ultrasound neg. 483733 tn?1326798446 so, you sound like you're being sarcastic, so, are you saying you still need a uterus to get pregnant- because I was thinking of having a hysterectomy, and just figured if I ever changed my mind I could just have a reversal- your forum might be useful to me- then I can see if this worked for others!?! OMG! Pregnancy after hysterectomy- too funny!
