222282 tn?1210164939 If extensive ischemia or necrosis is the result of an injury, the ureter injury is best treated by excising the injured segment of the ureter and reestablishing continuity with the urinary system. If the ureteral injury occurred above the pelvic brim, the simplest reconstruction is a ureteroureterostomy, a procedure that is indicated for injuries to short segments of the ureter (ie, <2 cm), in which an anastomosis is performed between the 2 cut edges of the ureter" www.emedicine.
Avatar f tn A week ago I had a hysterectomy. I had lots of complications and what should have been a 90-min. procedure was a 6-hr long ordeal. The next morning I felt great, other than a strong, pinching pain on my lower left side and back. My Dr., while checking on me during her rounds, didn't like the sound of that so she ordered a CT scan. That showed that my left kidney wasn't functioning and right back into surgery I went.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately during surgery the doctor knocked a hole in my bladder. My ureter swelled and kinked. Two days later I had stint put in my ureter. The stint stayed in for nine weeks. I continued to see the urologist for a year and did well. Now I am beginning to have a lot of pain in the kidney and area of the ureter. I have to urinate often, otherwise "'m in great pain. Has anyone experienced this? I'm in the process of scheduling a cat scan.
5318203 tn?1366353424 I underwent cystoscopy just this month due to ureteral stricture and a stent was placed in my right ureter. Is having a stent would predispose me to developing kidney failure?? or is it a possible risk factor??
Avatar n tn I had a complete hysterectomy Oct 2012. I still have sooo much gas. It is not painful but why is this still happening? And it really embarrassing cause it is quite explosive and uncontrollable.
Avatar f tn ve had a hysterectomy, left ovary with cyst removed, 8 ureter stents, ureter reconstruction, left kidney removed and a bladder sling installed. In amongst those, I've also had 3 partial bowel obstructions and a lysis of adhesions. I feel as if I have another bowel obstruction and have been fairly sick lately. My gastro will only order a KUB Xray. This Xray has never shown my obstructions in the past. For the past week, I haven't passed any stool.
Avatar m tn ve had pain, bleeding, and unbelievable tiredness since my da vinci robot assist hysterectomy. In fact, I had to undergo an emergency surgery 4 weeks after my actual surgery because the robot knicked an artery. I severely hemorrhaged from that mistake. Still today, now 6 weeks later, I'm bleeding and have excruciating pain in my lower right pelvic area. I'm so depressed, I'm having to take anxiety medicine.
Avatar n tn I would hope not as I have had blood in my urine for the past 3 months and no one mentioned it to me. I have had a hysterectomy my ovaries are still in. but geez I hope that means nothing. I don't have any infection either.
Avatar f tn I have had bladder and kidney infection since I was seven. I had bilateral ureter reimplantation sugery at 21. A hysterectomy and oopherectomy due to endometriosis and polycystic ovaries at 29. Now I am having heart symptoms. I have had 2 abnormal EKGs, 2 echocardiograms showing an ejection fraction of 55% and then 3 months later 50%. I also have low blood potassium and high potassium in a 24 hour urine test. I am tired and my blood pressure is low all the time now.
584880 tn?1218295380 My daughter was born with a duplicate ureter on her left side and the extra ureter was not draining into her bladder. It caused her to have constant uti's, leaking of urine and a greenish-yellow pus (due to infections). It took 4 1/2 years for dr's to finally figure out what was wrong with her and nonstop persistance from me. Her left kidney also has damage now but the right is totally fine. She had surgery over a year ago and is doing well now.
5833870 tn?1375118376 I have tried just about everything from various birth control, meds, surgeries, chemically induced menopause and the hysterectomy and nothing seems to affect the progression of this effing disease..
Avatar n tn I have been dealing this for quite awhile now I've tried different birth controls, had many scrapings done, I'm now on lupron injections. I've had 2 so far but now my pain has gotten worse and I'm bleeding a lot. I've asked about a hysterectomy but i'm just not sure how i'm going to react to it. I'm 28 yrs old and done w/having kids. My tubes are tied too. Does a hysterectomy cause bone issues? Will i have to take hormone supplements?
Avatar n tn Last year the cancer had spread to my left ureter and I had to have my plumbing rerouted. I have had a complete hysterectomy in the past with chemo. This time, I had six weeks of radiation directed at my ureter. Now I have metastasis to my liver. My MD says it is about 3/4 of an inch big. I also have breast cancer. My ca125 has gone down to normal after 3 chemo treatments. Do you think this means I could be cured, or could it be that it will spread when I finish the chemo.
Avatar f tn 42 never had kids, thought I might in the next 2 years BUT just had my left ovary removed due to endo being attached to all organs in there and the ovary being enlarged and having a huge endometrioma on it. I have been told I have to have a hysterectomy as other ovary is a mess with endo as well attached to the bowel, fallopian tube, uterus like the one removed plus i have a huge fibroid in my uterus pressing on my rectum. I've been grieving and crying when I feel like it ..
1034241 tn?1252721169 My concerns are the fact that I have an ovarian cyst with no ovary. And that I am being tested for ovarian cancer. HOW CAN THESE THINGS HAPPEN after a Hysterectomy? ANY IDEAS LADIES?????????????? I am waiting.........
714049 tn?1232641094 During the time I was passing the stone (the stone was in the right ureter) I began to experience pain on my back to the left of my spine, along with abdominal pain and nausea. After passing the stone I felt instant relief, but a few hours later I began to experience the back pain, abdominal pain and nausea again. The Dr. ruled out kidney stones. What could it be? I have constant pain, and the nausea is brought on with even a sip of water.
727136 tn?1231182664 I am 5 years post total hysterectomy - abdominal due to adhesions/cysts/endo, etc. You name it, I had it. My left ovary was enlarged to size of grapefruit, wrapped around my ureter and the artery nearby, then that was all plastered to my left pelvic side wall. I opted for total hys due to endo, etc. I have 1 happy, healthy boy - he's almost 10! Anyway, the Dr.
Avatar f tn You are still early post-op but, for most, this level of pain doesn't linger this long. Based on my connections with many women who've had gyn surgeries, it's hard to get answers on post surgery problems because the surgeons don't want to incriminate themselves. Nerve damage is one risk of gyn surgery and next to impossible to diagnose and treat. Infections are also common and I'm not sure if a fever is always a symptom.
Avatar m tn Hi, this could be ureter stone, right ovarian cyst or appendicitis. If pulse is more than 80 and blood shows high TLC counts, is suggestive of appendicitis. In case of ureter stone, urine usually shows infection and ultrasound is diagnostic, pain is usually radiating in nature. Well colon pain is colicky or dull in nature, do you have recent history of diarrhea?
Avatar n tn I have had a hysterectomy, but left my ovaries intact. I have 4 children and never smoked. My pap came back normal but they found a 9cm solid, vascular mass/cyst on my left ovary. It has been causing me back pain, bloating, constipation pain and discomfort.(Or I should say I am assuming that is the source now that I know I have it.) My gyno did say that it would have to be surgically removed. He ordered a CA 125 blood test and stated that the results would be in on Monday.
Avatar f tn I am 31 and had a partial hysterectomy march 12, 2013. Took only my uterous and cervix due to Adenomyosis. the dr. left my ovaries(even though I have had reaccuring cyst all my life) said he didn't want me to go through menopause. Ever since the surgery I have had constint bladder pain. At first they said I had a severe bladder infection. Was put on an antibiotic, that didn't help. Put me on another, still no help. Put me on a third one and it seemed to clear it up, 6 weeks later.
568812 tn?1379165794 The problems i have is my urethra, not ureter...unless thats what you mean? What surgeries did you have? i wouldnt say either a dilated urethra or ureter would be dangerous...if the ureter is wider it may mean you'll need to pee more, and a dilated urethra can end recurrent UTIs. I think any sensitivity in the urinary system is horrible :( ive had enough UTIs to last me a lifetime! Hope your symptoms come to an end soon too!
Avatar f tn My son was born with hydronephrosis and hydrouereter. He also has ureter seal in his bladder. Hes already had one suregery to deflate the seal and now they want to go in a remove it completely as well as do some reconstructive surgery to help reroute the urine flow from the left upper portion if his kidney which doesnt function properly. My question is hes inly 14 months old can i wait until he gets a little older? Does any onr else have this and have they haf issues as adults?
Avatar n tn The uptake and washout of urine from the kidney was slow compared to the other kidney (about 70% vs 30% function for good and bad kidney instead of 50-50). So clearly there is a ureter obstruction. Now the urologist wants to do a retrograde pyelography to really determine the cause of the obstruction, whether it's a stone or stricture. My question is that, what's the likelihood it is a stone or a stricture?
