I was referring to the pathology reports from the colposcopy (removal of cervical tissue) prior to your hysterectomy and the one from the removal of your uterus and cervix (hysterectomy).
I presume you have had a total hysterectomy with your cervix removed. If your hyst was not done for cancer then there should be no reason for you to have Paps. Some physicians continue to Pap the upper vaginal wall if your hysterectomy was for cancer. The HPV test is a screening test and can produce false positive results. You are also menopausal which would mean that you have normal changes in your vaginal wall due to aging. You probably just need a repeat Pap in 6 months to 12 months.

From what I understand/how it was explained to me by medical professionals and from the medical literature I have access to (I work in the veterinary field and I'm currently working on a master’s degree in public health which includes medical terminology (mis)communication and comprehension), the medical terminology used for the various types of hysterectomies can vary somewhat depending on the country as well as the medical field in which you work.
My doctor tried to do a hysteroscopy and D&C on me (in hospital, general anesthesia) and said cervix is completely scarred shut. 3 weeks until my follow up. We still don't know what is the "area of concern" in my uterus. She mentioned we'll talk hysterectomy next. I'm 46. Do I have options?
Trans vag US showed this area, unsuccessful Saline Ultrasound - the wall is up apparently. I do not want to play roulette. If doc thinks it is cancer, I want it out.
The next month when I did not have my regular period I went to my OB to find my cervix had scarred shut. He did a cervical dilation to allow me to drain and told me that if this did not work that I would need a D&C. I have read where this does not always work and a hysterectomy may have to be done. Does anyone know what percent of women with this condition end up having to have a hysterectomy?
When we try it is so painful, my cervix is so tight and has never failed me before. I had a hysterectomy, and my ovaries were also removed. someone please tell me what to do, what could it be?

Did you have your cervix removed at the time of your hysterectomy. If not, it may be remnant endometrial tissue at the upper portion of the cervix/lower uterine segment. If the cervix was removed it is bleeing from the vaginal cuff. Either way, you should see your surgeon to be examined.

I was under the impression that if you had a hysterectomy that you did not have your uterus. When I had my hysterectomy done, the dr took the works. I'm talking about everything, the fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, uterus. Not that I miss any of them. I don't have periods, which means no pms! WooHoo!
A normal uterine lining and healthy ovaries. As of last year my cervix started to close. I have been dilated three times for this condition. I usually have one to two normal periods after. I then start to have missed periods or spotting periods.girth pain and know when it is time to get dilated. My Dr. said a hysterectomy is the only answer to this problem. Really? Can a stent be sewn in until I am postmenopausal?

Generally speaking when someone says they had a hysterectomy, it means they had everything out - uterus, cervix, ovaries and tubes. That's not the technical definition but that's the general term used since it's easier than saying salpingo-oophorectomy. You should ask your doctor what all was removed during the surgery. If all the parts were removed, then you won't be getting ovarian cancer.
Can a women still get cervical cancer after having a hysterectomy? I may have to have a hysterectomy and have been told that I would never get cervical cancer if I did have the surgery?
A dr at a clinic gave me a pap test and told me that my cervix is bloody. I am 60 and have not had a period or any bleeding whatsoever in 8 years. What would cause this ? I'm waiting for reports to come back and it's driving me crazy. Will I need a hysterectomy ?
My prior gynonc was ok to watch and monitor-he moved out of state. My new gynonc wants to do hysterectomy. WIth the low recurrence rate of this type, are there any alternatives to hysterectomy? It's not the surgery I am afraid of - its the shortened vaginal canal, the possible nerve damage, possibility of culdoplasty, possibiliy of increased monepausal sx. If cont'd to do u/s every 6 mos. should the possibility of CA recur, wouldnt it be caught in an early stage? My Dr.
Gardasil (the original version that you had) prevents 4 of over 100 HPV types, incuding only 2 of about 20 high risk types. (It also prevents infection with the two types that cause almost all genital warts.) Those two are very important, since they account for about two thirds of all high risk HPV infections. But many women still catch HPV, including high risk strains, after Gardasil. That doesn't mean the vaccine wasn't effective or that it didn't benefit you.
t want a complete hysterectomy? I never had a bad cervix pap smear and my uturesus is not enlarged or abnormal. I'm 51 and post menepausal, just think why take more than is needed if no cancer, and afraid it will negatively impact my sex life.
If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
Last year I had a hysterectomy removing the cervix and the uterus, kept the ovaries. I has endometriosis and constant pain, after and Endometrial Ablation I thought things would get better and 3 months later things were worse than they ever were. The final step was they hysterectomy. Three months after the surgery I still felt horrible, now 14 months later things are not better.
Sections reveal fragments from both ecto and endo cervix. Ecto cervix shows no dysplasia. Endo cervix shows foci of papillary endocervicitis, a few cystic glands and inflammatory cells. Multiple sections from the endometirum show complex glands, closely packed, enlarged and with foci of papillary infoldings and budding. The lining neoplastic cells show marked enlargement, nuclear pleomorphism, prominent nucleli and psedo stratification. Areas of necrocis seen.
Many woman have wats called a partial hysterectomy..this is uterus sometime incudes cervix sometimes not. A complete hyste is tubes, ovaries, uterus and cervix.
If her one ovary has "good eggs" she can use a surrogate.
