Sometimes when I lay on right side I feel pressure or pulling sensation...I have explained to doctor but they think it is coming from scar tissue. I am down to CT scans once a year just had one in August but they could not get IV in because veins kept collapsing. So I am concerned and have an appt. in Oct. with gyn/onc. That scan is what gave me peace of mind. So we will see what happens next....
Avatar f tn read the fine print of common side effects...many many women get serious depression/crying weeping from this injection. In all other ways it does work if you dont get the side effects ..its fine...but the depression is so very severe I know many women will not chance it,. A hysterectomy is always last resort its a very difficult surgery and recovery dont let any DR talk you into it ...unless you get 2-3 opinions I say this because your only symptom is a enlarged uterus...no heavy bleeding ?
Avatar f tn Does anyone have an opinion about this diagnosis? Does anyone know the side effects to ovary removal in menopause? Does anyone know if the ovaries have a role in women's health in menopause? Thanks for your thoughts on these issues.
Avatar n tn com , they focus on hysterectomys, surgery types, treating side effects, etc. They also have a free booklet they will send you on the topic.
10123610 tn?1408029225 It would be a shame to be left with the permanent side effects of ablation, hysterectomy, and/or ovary removal or ovarian failure caused by these surgeries when the symptoms could be managed with a more conservative approach. If you really want the fibroids removed, a surgeon with myomectomy skills (for large fibroids) or hysteroscopic resection of fibroids (for small fibroids) can remove the fibroids leaving your uterus intact.
Avatar n tn I received emergency surgery and a colonostomy. I am happy to be alive. I have gone through chemo. The side effects of chemo on the colon was tremendous. The next surgery is to reverse the colonostomy. I just wanted to say you're not alone and a speedy recovery to you.
1510783 tn?1290096307 I am scheduled to have a partial Hysterctomy because I've been diagnosed with Andemyosis. on December 15th (just my uterus will be removed, so far). What can I expect in regards to pain, recovery time and emotions. I've had my tubes tied for 4 years so I am fine about not having any more children. My doctor is not sure if she has to cut me or go vaginally. I am a little nervous and scared about this major procedure. Any feeback would be greatly appreciated. I am 38 years old.
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy and am suffering the many after effects. Knowing what I have since learned and experienced, I would not allow a hysterectomy unless I had cancer that was confirmed by a biopsy. And I would be sure the consent form clearly stated what type of surgery could be done. I hope this info helps!
Avatar n tn Every surgery has different results,,the poster aboves mom unfortunatly had some very serious side effects. You could do a search and hear from many who just had a great recovery to those who had a horrible recovery. With very good surgeons I think the recovery is probably inbetween. Ask Dr. if doing Keagels exercises would help post op and how long to wait to do them.

Avatar f tn But the risks and side effects of hysterectomy involve a much longer list than prolapse. I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago and speak from experience as well as the knowledge I have gained since undergoing this damaging surgery. The bladder and bowel descend without the uterus to separate them and hold them in place. Even absent prolapse, this often alters their functions. I experience intense pain when both my bladder and bowel are full. And they sometimes do not empty completely.
1151493 tn?1263336020 All this depression and self confidence issues ARE related to the side effects. Which scares me to death because I haven't had luck going down to less than the 4mg. Thank you for your response. XXXXxxxx.
Avatar f tn They told me that the steroids they give you to prevent chemo side effects would make me gain weight -- and I did gain weight. I wish I had exercised to turn that fat into muscle. Please talk with your doctor about your anemia concerns, and please don't take any "potent remedies" without your oncologist's permission. Congratulations on completing the six rounds. I wish you good luck and good health for the future.
Avatar n tn Without the side effects of hormones or the risks of hysterectomy, NovaSure has a quick recovery time so you can get back to your life sooner. Most women experience no pain after the procedure, and can return to work and regular activities the next day. i looked it up.
Avatar n tn Hi: I forgot to include this question in my last post. I am postmenopausal (about a year and a half) & am scheduled for a complete hysterectomy. I read a lot about physical/emotion effects of hysterectomies on premenopausal women, but can't find any information about the physical and emotional effect on women who've already gone through menopause. Is there still some hormonal effect on 'p. m.' women?
Avatar n tn My doctor suggested that I have the rectocele surgery repair. I'm hesitating because I've heard horror stories about the recovery and pain afterwards (from other posting sites and my Mom as well who had the surgery 15 years ago). I've been navigating this site and it seems like people here are not spreading fear. Just how bad was the surgery and post op? Thanks.
Avatar f tn What I can do it retweet your question and see what my Endosisters have to say who have had a hysterectomy. I can find out what they used to help them with the side effects.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I am scheduled to have open abdominal surgery in a couple of weeks to remove a large fibroid. I had been miserable for months and finally when I went to the doctor they found I had a large mass on the outside of my uterus and was anaemic. They explained that often drugs will shrink the fibroid, or they can be removed laparoscopically (sp?) but with the position and size, mine has to be open surgery- a myomectomy.
Avatar f tn I had a total hysterectomy 11 years ago and have taken estrogens for hot flushes since the surgery. My doc has gradually cut back the dosage and I'm now taking less than half my post op dosage. About a year ago she once again cut the dosage in half but I had severe hot flushes almost immediately and because I was so miserable, I went back on the previous dose. About two weeks ago I ran out of pills and to make a long story short, I've been unable to renew my script.
Avatar m tn Most of my side effects are gone, but I still have a few. I feel great, even with the few side effects I have left. What I noticed was they lessened in intensity as the days went by. Then at some point I would realize a certain side effect was gone. Then another and another. They just keep disappearing, but not all at once, and it is gradual. At least that is what I found. I also found that it is a little uneven, just like they are while on treatment.
Avatar f tn any suggestions from ppl that may have gone through this would be appreciated? The doctor told me that the side effects from hysterectomy are not that bad as long as they leave the ovaries. I am in a little bit of a panic and not sure what route would be best.
