Hysterectomy recovery operation

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy recovery operation

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I firstly hope this will resolve the issue but am a little scared in case it dosent and going through surgery for nothing. What does this operation involve and also what is the recovery time. My GP has been fantastic but we both think enough is enough. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn In 2004, she got detected of Ovarian cyst again and got her hysterectomy done. now after almost 12yrs of her operation, she is having excessive fluid coming out of her vaniga and she is becoming very weak. Can you please suggest, what may be the cause and also the way of recovery?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much. I relied heavily on the site when I had my hysterectomy. The recovery was not like the doctors told me, but was right on from what I read on this website ... I appreciate the support ....

Avatar f tn i had my operation for total hysterectomy 15 days ago and so far all seems to be progressing well except i'm experancing severe groin pain. and i can find nothing in books on recovery about this . is this normal>?
Avatar f tn Yesterday I had my 12cm ovarian cyst removed. I had a prophylactic hysterectomy done too. Inam 47.5 to and my ca 125 was in the 200s. The surgery was by a team of gym oncos with the assumption of ovca and staging operation a Followed by chemo. Instead the cyst was endimetrioma big grapefruit and ovary was size of 10 weeks pregnancy. Everything was cleaned up scar tissue and endo. All done by an laparoscopy by a gifted team. I was discharged yesterday. Came home 5pm.
Avatar f tn Would you keep or remove your ovaries when having a hysterectomy? I'm coming to the end of menopause.
Avatar f tn I am 40 years old and 3 weeks ago I had a hysterectomy where they took everything but my right ovary. It turns out I had Adnomyosis and was full of fibroids even tho nothing showed up on previous testing. I am glad I made the right decision to have the surgery but now my mood swings are off the charts and I feel like I'm going crazy and losing control. I also suffer from panic disorder that I had under control without meds up untill now.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I am scheduled to have open abdominal surgery in a couple of weeks to remove a large fibroid. I had been miserable for months and finally when I went to the doctor they found I had a large mass on the outside of my uterus and was anaemic. They explained that often drugs will shrink the fibroid, or they can be removed laparoscopically (sp?) but with the position and size, mine has to be open surgery- a myomectomy.
Avatar f tn Had my operation two weeks ago. 13 cm mucinous cystadenoma removed . Thankfully, it was benign. Since I am 39 and done having kids, had everything removed...tubes, ovaries, cervix and uterus. I am so glad I had it all taken out, because I would not want to go thru this type of operation, again. I have not started hormone therapy yet, but have only had a couple of hot flashes that were not too bad. They removed my staples in the hospital two days after operation and my incision opened.
Avatar n tn My doctor suggested that I have the rectocele surgery repair. I'm hesitating because I've heard horror stories about the recovery and pain afterwards (from other posting sites and my Mom as well who had the surgery 15 years ago). I've been navigating this site and it seems like people here are not spreading fear. Just how bad was the surgery and post op? Thanks.
Avatar f tn s eleven days post op with a hysterectomy, ovary and tube removal, and a sacrocolpopexy through the davinci robotic laparoscopic method. I returned to work yesterday as an accountant and worked for six hours. Lots of abdominal discomfort last night, some pressure, and what appeared to be some blood in my urine (pinkish color). My family thinks I'm pushing it. What do you think.
Avatar m tn My daughter is 7yrs old and she just had her operation 12days ago (foramen magnum decompression) She was discharged from the hospital 2days ago but she is still having very bad headaches. She would explain the pain as if somethings is digging in her head and it keeps her awake at night.. How long does the pain normally last and what can I do to help her?
Avatar f tn If you ask them only to take the cyst it is a quick recovery. If they do a hysterectomy that is major surgery. It can take weeks. Just a few in the hospital. It is best to keep at least one ovary. For your over all health you need at least one ovary. Just having the cyst out would be ideal.
Avatar n tn It takes several weeks for your body to heal after a hysterectomy so it's best to follow the Drs orders. Take things slow and get plenty of rest.
Avatar f tn In your previously posted question (10/14/15) I said that this operation is unusual and recovery is not as fast or predictable as the standard cataract removal insertion of IOL done in an adult. The complication you have is not rare. The white stuff is usuallyy as Soemmering's Ring dislocation see link below. http://bjo.bmj.com/content/35/4/226.full.pdf This is not a minor operation. This will reset the clock to day one again.
Avatar f tn I do believe if she has this operation, and recovery takes place in a nursing home, this will be the end of her acive life as it is now. I know she understands what is being said around her, and I think she has agreed to the operation but at 61 I still feel 17, and I don't think she realises the implication.
Avatar n tn Hi, I had a total hysterectomy on April 20 (3 months ago). I had my uterus, ovaries, cervix and tubes removed due to fibroids, ovarian cysts, and endometrosis (found during the operation). I also scheduled a urologist to come in after the hysterectomy and perform a bladder suspension. I'm 55 years old and prior to surgery I had not stopped bleeding on a regular basis, so the hysterectomy was my "menopause".
Avatar f tn Tiredness was my worst symptom!! But you defintely need to take it easy..unfortunately I had 3 surgeries 2 with the hysterectomy and 1 a week later but my incision took 8-10 weeks to heal...the norm is 4-6 but I know the insides need to heal alot longer..just when you feel good and do too much than you realize your quite not there yet..so please take this time to recover rather than end up doing something that can cause more damage..the Doctor will give you the clearance to exercise again..
Avatar f tn 3 weeks to go for my date to go in to hospital for my hysterectomy i have to ring the hospital on the day to see if they have a bed for me o god i am up the walls thinking about it anyone any tips i need to stop thinking about it it i am going mad befor i even get it done :{
1221705 tn?1297193069 It was a pretty simple procedure that had about a week recovery time for me. I went in very worried as well. Asking questions at the pre-admission really helped to settle those a bit. With any surgery there can be complications, I don't' think anyone could really set my mind at ease. My biggest fear was of the extreme kind I just worried that something would go wrong and I'd wake up to them saying "You've had a hysterectomy.
