Hysterectomy recovery medication

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy recovery medication

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn My doctor suggested that I have the rectocele surgery repair. I'm hesitating because I've heard horror stories about the recovery and pain afterwards (from other posting sites and my Mom as well who had the surgery 15 years ago). I've been navigating this site and it seems like people here are not spreading fear. Just how bad was the surgery and post op? Thanks.
Avatar n tn It takes several weeks for your body to heal after a hysterectomy so it's best to follow the Drs orders. Take things slow and get plenty of rest.
Avatar f tn Tiredness was my worst symptom!! But you defintely need to take it easy..unfortunately I had 3 surgeries 2 with the hysterectomy and 1 a week later but my incision took 8-10 weeks to heal...the norm is 4-6 but I know the insides need to heal alot longer..just when you feel good and do too much than you realize your quite not there yet..so please take this time to recover rather than end up doing something that can cause more damage..the Doctor will give you the clearance to exercise again..
Avatar f tn Removing ovaries is not a hysterectomy...it's an oophortectomy. Hysterectomy is removal of the uterus. I'm not sure exactly what your doctor is recommending, what tests were performed, or what the surgery recommendation is based upon. Ovaries can be removed laparoscopically by small incisions or by open incision (laparotomy).
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy just under 3 weeks ago, and i was just wondering how much walking is too much? I am only going for short walks at the moment, but feel i would be able to go for longer walks, but am afraid i might push myself too hard. any advice would be helpful, thanks.
1510783 tn?1290096307 I am scheduled to have a partial Hysterctomy because I've been diagnosed with Andemyosis. on December 15th (just my uterus will be removed, so far). What can I expect in regards to pain, recovery time and emotions. I've had my tubes tied for 4 years so I am fine about not having any more children. My doctor is not sure if she has to cut me or go vaginally. I am a little nervous and scared about this major procedure. Any feeback would be greatly appreciated. I am 38 years old.
Avatar f tn I have to go to the hospital tomorrow to get a CT scan and diagnostics test done so the doctors can see a bit more than they did with the pap, uterine biopsy and ultrasound. The conclusion thus far...no way around it, complete hysterectomy. There are so many, attached to other organs, etc. Actually, I'm very glad to have found the reason for my pain, extreme fatigue and mood swings (some would just say being a witch and I don't blame them!).
14372444 tn?1434247094 m praying that it will be the last for good! I had a total hysterectomy, appendix removal and some of my colon taken out with the surgery. Long recovery, then started chemo in February. Thought that maybe someone on this forum had medication that helped them get through the bad days. Thanks for your response. Keep fighting the good fight!
Avatar m tn I had a vaginal hysterectomy 8 years ago was great for me and I had a quick recovery. Surgeries change throughout the years. Laparoscopic surgery is great as well as the healing time is much quicker. Myself, I would go laparoscopic as it is a much faster recovery as I stated before. But I would definite talk to you gyn first. Good luck.
Avatar f tn If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
Avatar m tn If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time. God Bless you both and anyone else that's going through this!
Avatar n tn Has anyone had the DiVinci machine for a hysterectomy? How long was recovery? How did it go?
Avatar f tn C section is scheduled for August 7th; however, due to the location of my fibroids I may have to have an emergency hysterectomy...is anyone else in a similar situation? Does anyone know anything about how that might impact recovery? Pregnancy has been basically perfect and baby is doing great otherwise!!
1053613 tn?1255987994 Has anyone had their hysterectomy by robotics? Im having the robotics hysterectomy on Dec. 30 and was wondering how the recovery has been for someone who has that type of surgery.
Avatar f tn If anyone has had surgery since being diagnosed, can you please let me know if you had an increase in symptoms afterward. Did they give you different medication to put you under? Did they have a hard time waking you up afterward? Any info will help.
Avatar n tn It does sound like it would be the best solution. I can see what the doctor means. If they leave the ovaries, at least you wouldn't experience surgical menopause, which can be a bit brutal. But you would say goodbye to your womb. How do you feel about that? It might be a good idea, for the sake of your general health. Fibroids naturally shrink after menopause, and often cause no more trouble, but with the kidney involvement, I would say it's best to have the surgery.
Avatar f tn even on the pain medication, the pain gets so severe that I can hardly walk. It comes on suddenly and feels like sharp contraction like pain. I am seeing a gynecologist and am supposed to get a myomectomy. the uterine biopsy came back good... No cancer. However, I am having a lot of weird symptoms.I have received the lupron depot shot, twice, to reduce the size of my enlarged uterus.
Avatar n tn How long will it take for you to recover from a partial hysterectomy. I had mine a week ago, I feel like I am able to work already but I'm afraid that going back to work at one is not good for me.
Avatar f tn I'm not certain what all you already know, or what you need to know, so here's my simple "hysterectomy lecture" for future readers. :-) The word "hysterectomy" actually refers only to removal of the uterus. The cervix is usually removed as well, and that entire procedure is called a total hysterectomy. There are two ways to do the surgery.
Avatar n tn How long you stay in hospital depends on where you live, insurance, and your doctor. I live in Canada and I was in for 5 days but I have heard of others in for as little as 2. Did you have open surgery for your hysterectomy? The recovery time is very similar. I found a lot of pain for the first 2.5 weeks. Hugging a pillow really helped and very important to stay on top of your pain meds. My pain started reducing then and felt much better by the 4 week mark.
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy in May-kept my ovaries. I am having severe pain in lower left pelvic area.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am having laparoscopic hysterectomy with ovary removel.(Brca gene) I have a one year old baby. I was told I can't pick up anything over 10pounds. No yoga or anything either . For 4 weeeks. Wow is this really true?? Is there a procedure with better post op recovery?
Avatar n tn Oh no no. This is definitely not the "first" option. I've had 4 leeps and about 20 colposcopies all with biopsies during. I've been cut on quite a bit and I'm ready to just me done. I have 2 kids and a tubal ligation so there's no worry there. I'm definitely not just jumping to get a hysterectomy especially with the recovery time and mom obligations but the worry and slicing are getting a little tired.
