Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy recovery list

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn My doctor suggested that I have the rectocele surgery repair. I'm hesitating because I've heard horror stories about the recovery and pain afterwards (from other posting sites and my Mom as well who had the surgery 15 years ago). I've been navigating this site and it seems like people here are not spreading fear. Just how bad was the surgery and post op? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I am 27, and am having a bilateral ovary removal and radical hysterectomy in a few weeks. (Due to various problems but mainly huge production of testosterone.Possible tumor unseen by testing) Anyway, I would like to know all of the ins and outs of post op recovery and etc. I am already on estrogen since I don't produce much. I recently (8-12 weeks ago) had my appendix removed laproscopically (sp?) will the pain be like that pain??? I am a stay at home mom to a HYPER!! ADHD 4 year old son.
Avatar n tn It takes several weeks for your body to heal after a hysterectomy so it's best to follow the Drs orders. Take things slow and get plenty of rest.
Avatar f tn Tiredness was my worst symptom!! But you defintely need to take it easy..unfortunately I had 3 surgeries 2 with the hysterectomy and 1 a week later but my incision took 8-10 weeks to heal...the norm is 4-6 but I know the insides need to heal alot longer..just when you feel good and do too much than you realize your quite not there yet..so please take this time to recover rather than end up doing something that can cause more damage..the Doctor will give you the clearance to exercise again..

Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I am scheduled to have open abdominal surgery in a couple of weeks to remove a large fibroid. I had been miserable for months and finally when I went to the doctor they found I had a large mass on the outside of my uterus and was anaemic. They explained that often drugs will shrink the fibroid, or they can be removed laparoscopically (sp?) but with the position and size, mine has to be open surgery- a myomectomy.
482924 tn?1333203671 Please ask your Dr about the DaVinci Robotic Hysterectomy its the very best most modern method quicker recovery less invasive.....very expensive so check w your insurance co, If you have any more questions Im here for you. If it ends up that you will have the surgery please pm me I can walk you threw it.....tons of pre and post op advice. hugs...
Avatar f tn Removing ovaries is not a hysterectomy...it's an oophortectomy. Hysterectomy is removal of the uterus. I'm not sure exactly what your doctor is recommending, what tests were performed, or what the surgery recommendation is based upon. Ovaries can be removed laparoscopically by small incisions or by open incision (laparotomy).
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy just under 3 weeks ago, and i was just wondering how much walking is too much? I am only going for short walks at the moment, but feel i would be able to go for longer walks, but am afraid i might push myself too hard. any advice would be helpful, thanks.
495284 tn?1333894042 Grateful for..... 1. To no longer be a slave to my drugs is the issue I'm MOST grateful for. 2. My family that has stood behind me the entire time (of course I'm sure they're quite tired about hearing about recovery as it's the main component in my life) 3. Recovery - because without it, I wouldn't have anything to be grateful for. There are lots of things to be grateful for. Sometimes, when **** is hitting the fan, we forget this. I do!
1510783 tn?1290096307 I am scheduled to have a partial Hysterctomy because I've been diagnosed with Andemyosis. on December 15th (just my uterus will be removed, so far). What can I expect in regards to pain, recovery time and emotions. I've had my tubes tied for 4 years so I am fine about not having any more children. My doctor is not sure if she has to cut me or go vaginally. I am a little nervous and scared about this major procedure. Any feeback would be greatly appreciated. I am 38 years old.

495284 tn?1333894042 Our very own Meegy mentioned we needed some action on here so what better way than to make a list of all we are grateful for. Our lives get hectic and we sometimes forget to take the time to sit back and realize all the blessings we have right in front of us. I am grateful for my recovery first and foremost. I have my family, both home and here. I am so blessed with 3 loves of my life. My grandbabies are my everything as they have been a gift given to me to love and cherish.
Avatar f tn Unless you go onto hormones, you will have instant menopause symptoms. You can google "menopause" for the list.

Avatar m tn I had a vaginal hysterectomy 8 years ago was great for me and I had a quick recovery. Surgeries change throughout the years. Laparoscopic surgery is great as well as the healing time is much quicker. Myself, I would go laparoscopic as it is a much faster recovery as I stated before. But I would definite talk to you gyn first. Good luck.
Avatar f tn If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
Avatar m tn If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time. God Bless you both and anyone else that's going through this!
Avatar f tn Can anyone tell me what this may involve and also what is the usual recovery period.Does this surgey have any likelyhood of making the cancer spread?
