hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I am 60 years old, had a complete hysterectomy 21 years ago, and I am NOW having hot flashes! Why, at this age? I recently stopped (properly) taking Peroxitine. Surely that has nothing to do with the hot flashes. I wake several times during the night, can't seem to stay asleep all night. I am TIRED!
Avatar f tn Some women don't get hot flashes. If you do start getting them talk to your Dr about hormone therapy. Are you doing alright 11 days post-op? Are you following Drs orders and taking things easy?
Avatar n tn Hi, my name is Debbie and I had surgery for a 5cm cyst/tumor last August (at age 46). My gyn/onc thought it was an endomtrioma (blood filled cyst from endometriosis) BUT prepared me that there was a remote chance of it being cancerous or borderline. So I prepared myself by asking many questions of the doctor and others (on this forum) but also read quite a bit (because it is a big thing and a little worrisome).
Avatar f tn 075mcg generic levothyroxine for the past 6 yrs. I am also past menopause but continue to have hot flashes. they subside for a while but about every 3 months or so come back w/ a vengeance. i am taking various menopausal vitamins and supplelments, but those have stopped working and again the flashes are back. i am now beginning to wonder if the hot flashes are related to the thyroid and not menopause. Would taking a brand name rather than a generic drug help?

6884955 tn?1385764210 Hello, for the past few weeks, I have been getting hot flashes and have noticed that my body temperature has changed. I used to be cold all the time, now I have to have a window open at night. I am only 43 but had a hysterectomy which my doctors says I could go into menopause 5 years earlier then normal. Is this something that could be caused by fibromyalgia?
Avatar f tn 60 yr old dying from hot flashes!Coped with heart attack, stent, lupus, fibro and surgical hysterectomy,POS.All HRTs,etc compounding creams,Premarin cause angina.SSRIs work but severe side effects.Have tried everything for 3years.Homeopathy hasn't helped. My life is a wreck from this, can anyone help?
1949068 tn?1449628519 Hi, A partial hysterectomy should not lead to hot flashes and symptoms of menopause, as the ovaries are kept intact. Hot flashes occur because of hormonal imbalance. Also feeling drained can be because of anaemia, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance etc. Please check out with your Doctor for a thorough evaluation. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.

Avatar m tn I pray that you both get what ever issues that your going through healed! I pray that all of your female family members go through the change without Hot Flashes, fibroid turmors, lots of bleeding or Moodiness! I'm going in for a laparoscopy diagnostic to determine where the 5cc fibroid that couldn't be removed 3 years ago from the abdominal myomectomy. After that it will determine which type of hysterectomy. The goal is not to have any left in my body.
Avatar m tn I recently had a total hysterectomy. I was about 4 years post menopausal and had mild hot flashes. After the hysterectomy my hot flashes are worse which doesn't make sense to me. I'm wondering about using progesterone cream. Anyone have a similar experience? I'm 60 years old and in otherwise good health. I'm not on any prescription medications.
151462 tn?1359172276 I had a hysterectomy at the age of 30, but everything removed at the age of 34. I had hot flashes then and they lasted about a year. This past winter the hot flashes came back worse than anything I have ever experienced. Over the last three weeks, any type of physical activity that I do (walking, shopping, washing the car, watering flowers outside, etc.) I get very lightheaded to the point where I have passed out. This past weekend, I went into a store to make a quick purchase and I passed out.
Avatar m tn I am pretty much the same. Had a hysterectomy in 1989 aged 42 and started having hot flashes at age 49. Was prescribed HRT and they stopped the flashes. Stayed on HRT until doctor advised they weren't good for me.15 years later. I stopped the HRT and within a few weeks the flashes had started back severely. I saw the doctor and said my quality of life had diminished to zero so he said to go back on them. Another 2 years on and another doctor has said to get off them again.
Avatar n tn after my hysterectomy 2 years ago i have hot flashes and night sweats it is severe i have tried everthing at the wal mart pharmacy over the counter nothing is working im going crazy pls help me on wat to do
Avatar f tn I am 40 years old and 3 weeks ago I had a hysterectomy where they took everything but my right ovary. It turns out I had Adnomyosis and was full of fibroids even tho nothing showed up on previous testing. I am glad I made the right decision to have the surgery but now my mood swings are off the charts and I feel like I'm going crazy and losing control. I also suffer from panic disorder that I had under control without meds up untill now.
2034486 tn?1329479686 I am 8 days post op, I have had hot flashes now for 5 days and it's all day long,. Have to sit in front of fan all day and sleep with it all night, is this normal? A friend told me it was the pain meds causing this.. I disagree since I am still having them and haven't taken anythign for pain in a cpl days. I had everything removed besides the cervix. I am not feeling so much discomfort anymore around the incision sight.
Avatar n tn t have an answer but just knowing so many other women have this issue makes me feel better. I am actually almost 70 years old and have had these painful night time hot flashes for many years. I had a complete hysterectomy at age 34 after a dangerous miscarriage. I was on hormone therapy till age 60 when my doctor said it was time to wean off them. The hot flashes were so bad just after a week or so that I went back on hormone therapy for another 2 years.
Avatar n tn My gyn had said as long as I was feeling well it was OK but then I just was reaching for a reason for the other symptoms. The hot flashes seem to be only at night. Feel like I am hot from the inside out. I will check out the black cosch! Thanks for the tip!
Avatar n tn I had a complete hysterectomy when I was 31 yr i had yrs of hot flashes and i was on HRT for 11 yrs. I am now 50 and still have the occasional hot flash or night sweats it gets better with time the generalized weak feeling and frequent urination i think comes with the change of life which you'll probably go thru slowly. Take care and go slow but if your lightheadedness don't stop tell your dr maybe your meds are too strong or not strong enough. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I don't think there is any scientific data showing that hcg will do anything positive for your hot flashes; those are most likely due to being pushed into "instant menopause" from your hysterectomy. I had a hysterectomy, also, many years ago and went through the same thing. There are other supplements you could try that might be more beneficial than hcg. You might talk to your doctor about taking black cohosh.
Avatar f tn I had a complete hysterectomy 6 years ago because my ovaries we bad. I started the hot flashes the second I woke up from anesthetic. I still have the quite frequently and I was wondering if any one knows when they will stop they are really starting to bug me.
