hysterectomy

Avatar n tn My doctor suggested that I have the rectocele surgery repair. I'm hesitating because I've heard horror stories about the recovery and pain afterwards (from other posting sites and my Mom as well who had the surgery 15 years ago). I've been navigating this site and it seems like people here are not spreading fear. Just how bad was the surgery and post op? Thanks.
Avatar n tn It takes several weeks for your body to heal after a hysterectomy so it's best to follow the Drs orders. Take things slow and get plenty of rest.
1510783 tn?1290096307 I am scheduled to have a partial Hysterctomy because I've been diagnosed with Andemyosis. on December 15th (just my uterus will be removed, so far). What can I expect in regards to pain, recovery time and emotions. I've had my tubes tied for 4 years so I am fine about not having any more children. My doctor is not sure if she has to cut me or go vaginally. I am a little nervous and scared about this major procedure. Any feeback would be greatly appreciated. I am 38 years old.
Avatar f tn I am 27, and am having a bilateral ovary removal and radical hysterectomy in a few weeks. (Due to various problems but mainly huge production of testosterone.Possible tumor unseen by testing) Anyway, I would like to know all of the ins and outs of post op recovery and etc. I am already on estrogen since I don't produce much. I recently (8-12 weeks ago) had my appendix removed laproscopically (sp?) will the pain be like that pain??? I am a stay at home mom to a HYPER!! ADHD 4 year old son.
Avatar f tn Tiredness was my worst symptom!! But you defintely need to take it easy..unfortunately I had 3 surgeries 2 with the hysterectomy and 1 a week later but my incision took 8-10 weeks to heal...the norm is 4-6 but I know the insides need to heal alot longer..just when you feel good and do too much than you realize your quite not there yet..so please take this time to recover rather than end up doing something that can cause more damage..the Doctor will give you the clearance to exercise again..
Avatar f tn Removing ovaries is not a hysterectomy...it's an oophortectomy. Hysterectomy is removal of the uterus. I'm not sure exactly what your doctor is recommending, what tests were performed, or what the surgery recommendation is based upon. Ovaries can be removed laparoscopically by small incisions or by open incision (laparotomy).
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy just under 3 weeks ago, and i was just wondering how much walking is too much? I am only going for short walks at the moment, but feel i would be able to go for longer walks, but am afraid i might push myself too hard. any advice would be helpful, thanks.
Avatar f tn your very wrong there are many reasons for a hysterectomy ever hear of andeomyosis I had it its very very painful only cure a hysterectomy..how about endometriosis how do you propose doctors cure that? what about multiple cysts....adhesions...abnormally thick lining....multiple periods per month causing anemia....which can be life threatining....or how about trauma ....are you aware that some rapes cause so much damage that it has occured that hysterectomys are preformed...
Avatar f tn I'm having a partial hysterectomy done laproscopically in January due to Adenomyosis. Can anyone offer any advice for pre-surgery preparation and post-surgery recovery?
Avatar m tn I had a vaginal hysterectomy 8 years ago was great for me and I had a quick recovery. Surgeries change throughout the years. Laparoscopic surgery is great as well as the healing time is much quicker. Myself, I would go laparoscopic as it is a much faster recovery as I stated before. But I would definite talk to you gyn first. Good luck.
Avatar f tn If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
Avatar m tn If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time. God Bless you both and anyone else that's going through this!
778037 tn?1377986200 When I had my hysterectomy last year, I was able to go back to work for three weeks post recovery, and then was out for two months due to nutrional issues. My iron bottomed out, my folate was low, my vitamin D dropped due to my body having used its reserves for the surgery and recovery. It has been very hard trying to build my levels, considering I can barely eat with a barely functioning gallbladder (5.5% ejection fraction) and that everything I eat or drink bothers me.
Avatar n tn how can i loose weight that i gained after hysterectomy did everything and nothing works do you hv anything on the market for testing seeing that most people that gets a full hysterectomy have the same problem please let me know
Avatar n tn Has anyone had the DiVinci machine for a hysterectomy? How long was recovery? How did it go?
Avatar f tn C section is scheduled for August 7th; however, due to the location of my fibroids I may have to have an emergency hysterectomy...is anyone else in a similar situation? Does anyone know anything about how that might impact recovery? Pregnancy has been basically perfect and baby is doing great otherwise!!
1053613 tn?1255987994 Has anyone had their hysterectomy by robotics? Im having the robotics hysterectomy on Dec. 30 and was wondering how the recovery has been for someone who has that type of surgery.
Avatar f tn Also, does adding a hysterectomy to all the other procedures being done in the repair increase the recovery time? And does it affect the length of time the repair might last?
Avatar f tn The 2nd is to perform a hysterectomy via an incision to my bikini line and leave my right ovary intact. The recovery time is exactly the same which made me feel a hysterectomy is my best option but now I'm having second thoughts. Can someone advise me?
Avatar n tn It does sound like it would be the best solution. I can see what the doctor means. If they leave the ovaries, at least you wouldn't experience surgical menopause, which can be a bit brutal. But you would say goodbye to your womb. How do you feel about that? It might be a good idea, for the sake of your general health. Fibroids naturally shrink after menopause, and often cause no more trouble, but with the kidney involvement, I would say it's best to have the surgery.

Avatar f tn I will have a full hysterectomy in a few days, hopefully laparoscopically. In addition to fear of malignancy, I am concerned about recovery. I am in excellent health and fairly fit,10 years post-menopause, never been pregnant. Would hormones be recommended? Which ones and why? What about bladder trouble? How soon might I be able to drive my stick-shift? Return to the gym? Any suggestion appreciated. And best holiday wishes to all.
Avatar n tn How long will it take for you to recover from a partial hysterectomy. I had mine a week ago, I feel like I am able to work already but I'm afraid that going back to work at one is not good for me.
Avatar f tn I'm not certain what all you already know, or what you need to know, so here's my simple "hysterectomy lecture" for future readers. :-) The word "hysterectomy" actually refers only to removal of the uterus. The cervix is usually removed as well, and that entire procedure is called a total hysterectomy. There are two ways to do the surgery.
