Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy recovery da vinci

hysterectomy

Avatar m tn I am not sure what my damages were/are but I have had bowel issues ever since my hysterectomy (severe diarrhea for many months post-op). My surgery was not da Vinci though. It appears that the da Vinci is more likely to cause harm than other methods. A friend who was damaged by da Vinci said reports of damages by the robot have increased significantly. Surgical recovery from hysterectomy (absent surgical damage) takes 6 months to a year.
Avatar n tn Surpassing the limits of conventional laparoscopic surgery, da Vinci is revolutionizing gynecologic surgery for women. No wonder more and more women are choosing da Vinci Surgery for their hysterectomy. In fact, since it was cleared by the FDA in 2005, surgeons have performed more than 100,000 da Vinci Hysterectomies.
368844 tn?1262319347 I am having a da vinci hysterectomy and ovaries removed Dec 22 and want to know what things I should do before. What items should I have on hand, what should I shop for? What will make life easier if I prepare now? Help! Those of you who have been through this - care to share your knowledge and insights? Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn ) From my understanding she will be doing the surgery with this da Vinci machine. I understand the recovery is supposed to be easier and quicker, but would really love to hear from women who have actually been through it using this method. As well, I would love to hear from those who have had a full hysterectomy using this device, as the doc mentioned removal of my uterus and my second ovary as possibilities. Thanks to all!
Avatar f tn after alot of doctor visits with other specialists to rule out any other cause for my pelvic pain I was back at the GYN again and NOW he is referring me to another doctor who performs a surgery called Da Vinci surgery, which is less invasive. My question is number one, is it safe...what are the side effects if any and do you feel that is a safe way to deal with my medical problem?
473883 tn?1322853038 t have normal periods and i also have pcos so i will be having my ovaries and tubes removed too.
442027 tn?1209866342 Oh no...I see there is a space, between da vinci, there can be no spaces....
Avatar f tn i’m 25 and just had a full hysterectomy and oophorectomy three days ago (with the da vinci robot). i understand that you’re supposed to wait several weeks before inserting anything inside the vagina, so sexual penetration is a no-go. what i want to know is how long i should wait until i masturbate using only external stimulation? i’m worried that the orgasm itself may be bad for healing or hurt because of the way the muscles contract. does anyone have any advice or experience with this?
Avatar m tn I was wondering if anyone else has experienced pain after Da Vinci POP surgery in their neck? I am also having pain in my hip? stinging and burning? I go back to my urogyn on Wednesday. But was hoping to get some feedback before my appointment.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy last Nov by da Vinci. It is great! The doctor is behind the robot but there are several others at your side assisting her. I had the easiest recovery. No pain really at all (besides the gas they pump in there). I never even filled my prescription for the pain medicine! Hope this helps.
1053613 tn?1255987994 I did see the surgery on youtube....look for da vinci robotic hysterectomy. Very high tech. Im worried after reading some of the posts. There are so many complications that can arise after surgery. Hoping the robotic assisted will eliminate some complications. Love to hear from ya all.
Avatar f tn Surgery was last Friday. I had the Da Vinci procedure and have had a wonderful recovery. I've had almost no pain, no bruising, no adverse affect except I feel tired by early afternoon. However, today I started to feel something funny when I urinate - not pain or burning, but a sort of pulling sensation in my urethra and perhaps my bladder. Is this common, a week after surgery? I was catheterized for about 18 hours. What shocked me was the size of my mass.
Avatar f tn The literature I have read up to this point about the da Vinci robotics describe vaginal vault and bladder sling mesh controlled procedures. My surgeon is Elizabeth Geller of UNC teaching hospitals who has done extensive studies on this procedure and submitted several journal articles. I am just concerned about the repair of the tear in the wall of the rectum which will be part of the surgery. I haven't seen this procedure mentioned. Is it a common part of the repair surgery?
Avatar n tn Also, if i only remove the ovary and part of the uterus i will have a new da vinci method versus a vaginal approach if both ovaries and whole uterus are removed.
Avatar f tn http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/mona-lisas-eyes-real-da-vinci-code/story?id=12380347&page=2 12/13/10 Lovers of the famous Leonardo da Vinci masterpiece Mona Lisa have been wondering about the secret behind those sly eyes for hundreds of years, but few if any ever thought they could contain an actual code. Avatar f tn My doctor has definitely indicated that he can not remove the fibroid laproscopically and that he would have to go in open surgery. He figured since he was in there, he could take out the uterus as well. He figured since the healing time was the same anyway.... He told me that a mynectomy would have to be open, something about where the fibroid is and that it's too close to the uterine arteries. i am going to see a Da Vinci specialist tomorrow. Hoping he has a different idea.
Avatar f tn I had a da Vinci hysterectomy also (last year). Those probably ARE stitches on your vaginal cuff. My gyn said they can take up to 6 months to dissolve.
Avatar n tn I had a laparoscopy done in Jan 2015, and went for a IVF, but failed. The doctor is planning to have the Da Vinci Robot to remove the cycts. I did some research online, I think the Da Vinci is treated for cancer. And doctor admitted that he didn't clean everything out when he did the laparoscopy in Jan. I want to know if anyone has the same experience that can be shared? and I am thinking to change another doctor, but not sure if this is a good idea. I'd really appreciate your help.
Avatar f tn Saw the Oncologist yesterday and am scheduled for a da Vinci laproscopic total hysterectomy on May 1st. Dr. Saffari was much more positive about the chances for benign tumor (50/50) and I am very happy to know that as long as it is benign or borderline they can complete the procedure laproscopically.
Avatar m tn and listened to my repro. endocronologist. I has surgery with the da vinci robot. I had extensive adhesions connecting my bladder to my sigmoid colon and my bladder attached to colon and to uterus. I could barely pee. Now this was this past april. I feel adhesions in the upper area of my pelvis where she did not use any barrier material.. What do I do now? I have had 2 c sections as well so in all there have been at least 5 abdominal surgeries.
8831133 tn?1415915535 Hello all, I'm 61 yrs old and had a Da Vinci robotic sacrocolpopexy with Y mesh April 25, 2014 with removal of both ovaries ( partial hysterectomy in 1974), so I'm almost at my 3 week post-op. No real complications other than a UTI which I understand is common after this type procedure. Doesn't seem like all the feeling has come back yet? And I'm having some leakage if my bladder becomes too full or if I need to go and cough, laugh, sneeze, etc.
Avatar f tn I'm 54 yrs. old and almost finished with menopause. Have a prolapsed uterus and need a hysterectomy. It will be done with the da Vinci robotics. My mother died from breast cancer and I don't know whether or not I should keep my ovaries. Need advice.
Avatar n tn I am 68 yrs old and lead an active lifestyle. I had the nerve sparing da vinci prostatectomy on august 28, 2008 after exhibiting 10 of 18 positives from my prostate biopsy with a gleason score of 6 (3=3). the surgery was done by the urology group in cincinnati, ohio. the postoperative pathology showed positive margins and the adjacent lymph nodes, partially removed, were free of cancer. here is my problem.
Avatar m tn My husband has to decide whether to have brachytherapy or da vinci. Gleason is 6 PSA 6.3 He is very confused as to which treatment to undergo. If brachy is not successful can he still have surgery after that?
1318296 tn?1274808023 If they find anything out of the ordinary, they will go after it right then and there. the Dr. said that the Da Vinci machine will be able to handle most of the possible negative outcomes, and that only in the worst case scenarios, would they have to do abdominal surgery as well. I am hoping for the best and prepared for the worst. I will keep a positive outlook no matter what the outcome. I will post here afterward to let you all know what happened.
Avatar f tn I had a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy using the Da Vinci Monday of this week. I have been doing really well (emotionally and physically) since the procedure and started taking Estrogen Tuesday upon returning home from the hospital. I previously took the same Estrogen dosage I am currently taking in April of this year to be sure my body could handle the medicine. I am 33 years old and have had 2 children (ages 10 and 4).
Avatar n tn It is good it is Da vinci. With me they said no robot for you we are opening you right down the middle and taking ovaries, fallopian tube, uterus , the omentum (lining of your organs), and possible your bladder, and colon and may be part of your liver. This was all from an ultrasound. I was in shock to say the least. My surgeon was known for the robot so I asked why he was not using it on me. He just said I had cysts not cancer and they had to come out that way.
