Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy questions surgeon

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn Have recently found that I have a cyst the size of large melon on one ovary, and have been sheduled to have surgery in a couple of months time. However, my gynae surgeon has arranged for a 'bowel surgeon' to be there at the same time as he will need to operate on me at the same time. I was so flabbergasted when he said this, that all sensible questions went out of my mind. Only afterwards did I realise that I should have asked him why we needed this other surgeon.
Avatar f tn You should also talk with you surgeon before if you have any questions, I went to see my Surgeon and he answered everything. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn Please seek the advise of a urogynecologist, POP procedures are extremely intricate and best addressed by a specialist. Often a urogyn can save the uterus. Please read several other posts in this forum, it will give you a much more full bodied view of the backdrop of POP, then send your specific questions in. (It would be difficult to give you info w/o knowing your specifics because there are 5 types of POP, 4 grades of severity, and multiple symptoms that can display-every woman is unique.
Avatar m tn He has told me he is a conservative surgeon but this does not sound conservative to me. Any ideas on what I might be dealing with?
Avatar f tn I am 30 years old and had a Vaginal Hysterectomy 2 months ago today (2 months after having my son). I am still having some pains in my stomach and pains during intercourse. I had my 6 week follow up with my dr and everything was ok at that time. I hadn't had intercourse yet with my husband to think about asking any questions. I also still have a discharge. It's not blood but just a discharge. Is all this normal 2 months after the surgery.
Avatar f tn I am 49 a single mom with three kids, one is special needs. I have been diagnosed with high grade DCIS and LCIS. I also have MS. First does anyone know if it is possible to have double mastectomy, reconstruction and hysterectomy at the same time? I'm in good shape, well other the above mentioned of course. Second if I did all this would I still be put on the anti-estrogen drugs. Yes I'm post menopause so it would be the ones that totally block estrogen like Femara not Tamoxifen.
Avatar m tn The proper thing to do is call the surgeon and report this. The surgeon should see you and check this out. Infections and adhesions are two possible complications of surgery.
Avatar m tn t touch each other the trust has gone I believe the surgeon never gave her any options and the hysterectomy was totaly unnecessar y.

1073454 tn?1317494199 You may want to check out our hysterectomy community forum for answers to your questions. I was fortunate in that I did not lose ovaries until after completing a natural menopause so I do not have the wisdom of experience to share with you. Others have prevented early menopause by hormone replacement. There's a patch that some have used with good results. All the other symptoms you mentioned can be prevented with a good hormone replacement until you are closer to a natural menopause age.
Avatar f tn Write these questions down so when you see the surgeon he/she will be able to answer them. The recovery time will depend on how invasive they are with the surgery. Are they leaving your ovaries?
Avatar f tn I am a 49 year old female and I've had a partial hysterectomy in May of 07...removal of the uterus only. To this day I continue to have pelvic pain and after numerous ultrasounds the diagnosis is bilateral hydrosalpinges. My GYN suggested having surgery by making a 3-6 inch incision in my abdomen and removing the tubes and or ovaries. He suggested doing the surgery that way due to alot of scar tissue build up after the hysterectomy...
Avatar f tn Old I have had symtoms of endometriosis and extreme pain for 15yrs and throughout the years was never diagnosed with it even after several surgeries UNTIL this year and ended up having a hysterectomy and after that I felt ok for about 8wks then I started having the same pain if not worse in some areas. I was told by 1 doc.
Avatar n tn I had a complete hysterectomy Oct 2012. I still have sooo much gas. It is not painful but why is this still happening? And it really embarrassing cause it is quite explosive and uncontrollable.
Avatar n tn hi I have this pricking sentation in my stomach on the left under the bellybutton and my plastic surgeon who did breast reconstruction said I have over reacvtive nerves and For a month and a half I used epleptin. am now stopping this, but keep getting prickly sensation and sometimes when stressed my whole body has the prickles.
Avatar f tn I am sorry you are suffering from both PCOS and endo that is leading you to hysterectomy. I assume you already know that hysterectomy is not a cure for the insulin resistance of PCOS or for endo. Some women do get relief, either temporary or permanent, but some don't (I don't know the percentages). I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago at age 49 - absolutely the WORST thing that has ever happened to me but I did not have a chronic pain condition.
Avatar m tn So please feel free to reach out there or if you have any other questions please feel free to ask and if interested in a good surgeon please let me know where abouts you live so I can help you out.
Avatar n tn should I be worried. . . I am 46 yrs old and had hysterectomy at age 41. Been on Climara ever since. I had my regular mamogram a few weeks ago and after radiologist suggested u/s and then core biopsy. The pathology report came back as fibrocystic changes with adenosis but the radiologist felt the films were discordant with pathology and sent me to a breast surgeon.
663253 tn?1231366653 I understand that during extreme sexual arousal the uterus erects and contracts and contains nerves that affect arousal. Can I have "deep pelvic orgasm" without my uterus. Does the surgeon sew together the area of the neck of the uterus? How can I tell if my vaginal nerves or deep vaginal muscles have been affected? I can not picture my own anatomy now.
Avatar f tn The 2nd opinion was for vaginal hysterectomy with repairs to the vaginal wall at bladder and bowel and a possible 2nd surgery later on dependent on the outcome of the urodynamics (which is today). I'm happy to have a hysterectomy (she'd leave the ovaries for hormones). I have 3 kids and don't want any more. What I need to know is what will my vagina be like afterwards? Like after everything is healed etc.
Avatar f tn Also how long would I stay in the hospital--I was given a pamphlet about these urogynecologists in Denver, and in the pamphlet they do talk about minimally invasive surgery for the cystocele with prolapse repair (without hysterectomy-already had the hysterectomy) or graft ad mesh repair for cystocele. Saw somewhere in your questions and answer section, someone was having problems with the mesh repair--is that common and how good is it--how long will the repair last. I am 77 years old.
Avatar n tn I asked my surgeon for the same thing and got general aneasthsia anyways. I had a horrible reaction to it, I knew I would. I find it hard to believe they will do surgery like this without general. I complained to the chief anasthesiologist, she apologized and moved on. Since I recovered I did not sue but sure felt like it.
Avatar f tn Questions to physicians would be since I had complete hysterectomy and everything has dropped should I seek a surgeon to lift up ? Very painful. Also incontinence is becoming on issue feeling like pressure there. Thank you appreciate your thoughts or anyone thoughts from forum on this subject.
Avatar m tn She had a complete hysterectomy then with no chemo. Unfortunately, it recurred in 2006 in the peritoneum, putting her in the stage 4 category. She did a surgical debulking with a general oncological surgeon. Since then, she was on chemo treatments once every 2 weeks or sometimes every week. CA125 came down from a couple thousand to 20. Somehow, in 2006, it creeped back up and she did a second surgery, followed by chemo. Once in awhile she would skip one or two chemos.
