Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy questions

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn My gynecologist has diagnosed a cystocele with mild prolapse of the rectum and uterus. She recommends a hysterectomy and repair. I do not want to have a hysterectomy if I can avoid it. She says if she doesn't do it then it is right behind the bladder so might cause problems later. I have done a lot of research but want to know any and all the questions I should ask before having surgery. I also want to know if a urogynecologist might be better than a gynecologist.
Avatar f tn Questions that is. if you find these questions to be stupid just celebrate the fact that you are smarter than me. lol question #1. Why would a woman who had a total hysterectomy still need to see a ob-gyn? queation #2. Would a woman who has had a total hysterectomy need to douche?
Avatar m tn If you would like, call her doctor who did the hysterectomy and ask if either of those can cause enough damage to a woman that the hysterectomy is the only way to fix it. I tend to think that if she had a hysterectomy it was required by a different problem, but maybe if she had really severe scarring and it was hurting her, that was why the doctor made the recommendation.
Avatar f tn I just concerned about breast cancer, cervical cancer and ovarian cancer and I honestly want and Complete Hysterectomy. I had a tubal ligation in 2006 and even my 4th GYN was a little concerned about me going through menopause a little early. I forgot to mentioned I had a total thyroidectomy this year 8/2010 and my body and health has not been right since the surgery.
Avatar n tn What was exactly a full hysterectomy for you? Some doctors call a hysterectomy just removal of the uterus. For my full debulking hysterectomy I had my uterus, cervix, both ovaries, both fallopian tubes and full omentum apron and my appendix... Did you have your ovaries removed? If you did you could have remnant ovarie tissue that has cysts.. you need to ask more questions... I hope you find the answers...

Avatar m tn Can you say why you need a hysterectomy? What kind of surgery are you having. Will it be a complete hysterectomy? Sorry for all the questions but the more we know the better we can help you. I did'nt gain any weight after my surgery. Make sure you eat well and exercise. You'll need 6 weeks of recovery time. That means no heavy lifting, no stairsno sex and plenty of rest. You may need hormones if you have hot flashes or mood swings, this is something you can discuss with your Dr.
Avatar f tn I have 2 questions. What effects does HPV have on men and can it be given to a baby during child birth? Thank you.
Avatar f tn was oncology, total hysterectomy, etc. and I blanked all the rest out. I believe her thoughts on the hysterectomy was because I had significant bleeding issues in Aug. (needed a D&C) that seems to be resolved now. So I'm wondering if I can just have the ovary/F.tube removed and call it a day? Please-any thoughts on this? BTW - I happened to read JennyRose's post about her anxiety on this issue & I can only say DITTO on all of it.

Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I just have a few questions about fibro, it's been almost 6 months now since both my mother and I had a flu that left us with muscle aches and soreness, also muscle and ligament tightness, some things have improved greatly in the severity but I still have problems (ie: constant muscle soreness, tightness ( especially in the back of my arms down the sides of my ribs and my mid to lower back and thighs ), heel pain, some light aches which get worse if I have a big day, tenderpoints
Avatar f tn I am 49 a single mom with three kids, one is special needs. I have been diagnosed with high grade DCIS and LCIS. I also have MS. First does anyone know if it is possible to have double mastectomy, reconstruction and hysterectomy at the same time? I'm in good shape, well other the above mentioned of course. Second if I did all this would I still be put on the anti-estrogen drugs. Yes I'm post menopause so it would be the ones that totally block estrogen like Femara not Tamoxifen.

I have 2 very large cysts on each ovary the size of newborn baby heads, the last ultrasound I had they couldnt see my ovary and might have severe endometriouses. The questions I have are... Are cysts inside the ovary or on the ovary? What exactaly is complex cysts? Is being in pain before my period and after my period normal?
1809377 tn?1316520328 I am seeing my GYN tomorrow to make an apt to have a partial hysterectomy. I have seen a lot of the posts out there, but I would like to know what I can experiece post up... recovery time... discomforts... how long will it take for my body to get back to my new normal self, how long it will take for me to have sex again (it's been over 5 months)!!!
Avatar n tn the retro as you know is to repair a hole or tear from vagina to rectum,,,it really can be done w/o a hysterectomy..however if you do indeed need a hysterectomy that would for sure be the very best time to do it. take a note book and write down all your questions..make sure you understand everything..Drs are legally bound to explain to you its called "Informed Consent" so use it !!! I have never heard of uterus being suspended...
Avatar f tn I'm not certain what all you already know, or what you need to know, so here's my simple "hysterectomy lecture" for future readers. :-) The word "hysterectomy" actually refers only to removal of the uterus. The cervix is usually removed as well, and that entire procedure is called a total hysterectomy. There are two ways to do the surgery.
482924 tn?1333203671 Please, please, please do not just rush into a hysterectomy! I was forced into one at the age of 27 and my life has never been the same since. For one I almost died from the sugery and for two, there is a very long list of major complications/illness' that come with a hysterectomy. Some doctor's push for a hysterectomy because they make good money from them and will continue making more money off of you, because of the side affects and complications.
Avatar f tn i am 51 in menopause and have a huge family history with cancer, The dr recently found a tumor in my ovary and recommended taking both out.... any thoughts on also having a hysterectomy at the same time?
