Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy pros and cons

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I was devistated, but once I came to terms with being childless I was ok with that and was even better when the Dr. finally told me she was doing a complete hysterectomy on me. There are pros and cons but you have to wiegh that for yourself. I use to get the same answer the doctors are giving you, but I had a cyst come up on my right ovary for the second time and they decided to do the hysterectomy. This was an answer to prayer for me.
Avatar n tn the ob/gyn has suggested me to undergo hysterectomy during the procedure if i have excess of bleeding during the procedure as i am anemic. i want to know the pros and cons regarding the hysterectomy ..how much risk will it involve on my life? please suggest???
Avatar n tn Hi. The use of clamps instead of stitches allow the surgeon to finish the operation sooner. There are also claims that the use of clamps results in a faster healing time for the wound, but I think if your surgeon is very skilled, the type of seal, whether clamps or stitches, would not matter.
7677085 tn?1395374075 I need a list of pros and cons of a stretch and sweep/sweeping the membranes. I have an appointment tomorrow and I've been having early labor type contractions for days now. I'd really just like to get things moving. Positive and negative real life experiences would be great as well. I'd really like to make an informed decision. Thanks ladies!
Avatar n tn Pros and cons of not finding out the gender! Or pros and cons of finding out the gender! I'm so torn!
4241272 tn?1357571660 I don't know much about it. My husband says it is important to have our son circumcised. He says it's cleaner and healthier, and that it's safer to do now than when he is older.
Avatar f tn d wait til after the baby is born to know the sex. Has anyone ever done this and maybe know the pros and cons of waiting to know the gender?
1003407 tn?1250296361 I think emotionally i wouldn't be able to handle the natural route, but tryin to prepare myself in the case that it does happen between now and monday. guess i'll have to wait and see what this weekend brings and see the OB on monday afternoon. The waiting game is horrid. Sorry for both of you. . Also; congrats to you both. Wish you lots of luck and good health.. Thanks for the replies, kim..
Avatar f tn I'm very indecisive and wanted to know the pros and cons on breast feeding ? Any help or suggestions ?
1295721 tn?1283419444 He told me some pros and cons to keeping ovaries vs. taking them out at the same time. He told me to talk to some women in my family, research as much as I'd like and let him know. I know women in my family have had ovarian cancer. Most of the women in my family have had a hysterectomy between the ages of 32-45. I'm concerned with leaving the ovaries and then getting cancer in them later because members of my family have had that happen.
Avatar f tn And just to let you know, she got a laparoscopic hysterectomy done in 2009 July to get that out. And of course, they even took out her uterus and both ovaries, citing future complications. Which resulted in lower back spasms/pain and still continues till this day. Also she gained weight somehow. So i suggest you get a clear picture of all pros & cons before opting for the best possible solution in your case.
Avatar f tn It does take a lot of dedication though! Pros out weigh the cons for sure! I tried with my daughter and was not successful only bc i waited till i left hospital to try so she already got use to the bottle. Def going to start as soon as this baby pops out this time!! Hoping i will be successful!! Pretty excited!!!

Avatar f tn I am having surgery the end of May and not sure if I should opt to have my ovaries removed or not. I am 46 and my hysterectomy is currently involves only the removal of my uterus due to fibroids. My OB informed me that there is a 15% chance of getting ovarian cancer. Can someone give me some of the pros and cons, I'm right in the middle and can't make a comfortable decision. Thanks.
Avatar f tn m not trying to brush you off on another forum, but I think you might have a better response as far as the pros and cons of a prophylactic hysterectomy if you posted your question in the Hysterectomy forum. Great job on being proactive and going directly to a GYN/ONC to answer your concerns, though. Best wishes to you. I hope you find the answers for which you're searching.
Avatar f tn m really tired of dealing with the cysts. I am considering oophorectomy. I am curious if the pros will outweigh the cons if I go through with it? Will things just get worse?
94902 tn?1330479667 I am now estimated 6 weeks pregnant, and am having to make the decision about wether or not to come off my meds. I am in the process of weighing my pros and cons, but wonder if any other moms have been on any meds while pregnant. I would appreciate any input.
Avatar f tn That was not my question, my question is what the pros and cons are. You don't know my medical issues or complications, so if my OB thinks it's a complication, then it's a complication.
Avatar n tn However, it could cause some facial hair. That would be something you need to weigh the pros and cons. From what I understand, hair loss is a normal part of menopause. I guess it depends on the degree of your hair loss as to whether you want to do something about it. This is the Ovarian Cancer forum. You might want to find an area of MedHelp that would pertain more to your particular problem.
Avatar f tn The type of POP surgery you have will depend on the exact type(s) of POP you have, there are many different procedures utilized for these kinds of repair. A urogyn will try to save the uterus if possible but often women have more than one kind of POP and it could be you have uterine prolapse.
Avatar n tn Talk to your Doctor if you have any unanswered questions. I spent alot of time before weighing the pros and cons. Hope this helped.
