Hysterectomy procedure women

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy procedure women

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn Insurance companies now require this procedure before a hysterectomy because it is less money. Most women will end up with a hysterectomy. There are contraindications why you should not have NovaSure done but gynecologist perform the procedure even though the woman is not a candidate. Doctors are not necessarily well informed and many women suffer. I had the procedure in 2005 and I would never recommend this procedure to any one I cared about. NovaSure is basically a form of torture for women.
Avatar f tn I recall a woman saying that a gynecologist at a renowned east coast institution told her the procedure should not be done on women under age 50. I hope you can get resolution without having to undergo hysterectomy which has its own set of short and long-term problems.
8012558 tn?1399308657 Few months ago I start reading about essure and stories of the women that had this procedure done. It was like they were describing me and my pain. The light bulb went on and I realized that all these problems started shortly after I had this procedure done. My doctor never told me about any side effects, except some bleeding after, but that is normal.
Avatar n tn conditions, treatment options and the lifelong damaging effects of hysterectomy. If they were, many women would refuse a hysterectomy as well as removal of one or both ovaries (castration). The non-profit HERS Foundation has been educating women about the lifelong functions of the female organs since the 1980's but is up against a very lucrative industry. Hysterectomy is emphasized in Graduate Medical Education. Each resident used to be required to do at LEAST 70 hysterectomies.
Avatar n tn Without the side effects of hormones or the risks of hysterectomy, NovaSure has a quick recovery time so you can get back to your life sooner. Most women experience no pain after the procedure, and can return to work and regular activities the next day. i looked it up.
Avatar n tn Fibroids are supposed to shrink after menopause (menopause = no periods for 1 year or more), so if you can hold out and wait for that, you should not have to have the uterus removed (no uterus might reduce the ability to have orgasm). Can the fibroids be removed or can your gyn do an ablation procedure instead? Removing both ovaries will end the cyst problem from reocurring (often if one gets a cyst, the other will get cystic in the future).
10123610 tn?1408029225 Ugh - this sounds like my experience when my gyn of 20 years discovered a cyst and rushed me into surgery. I regret that I did not say "no thanks I will call you if I decide to proceed" and then promptly find a doctor who did not want to rush me into surgery.
Avatar n tn s still not healed. Is hysterectomy a very long procedure? (In case) I wanted to know because of work demands. I just hope that everything will be fine and that you can suggest me what to do in case of anything that might come up. Thanks much.
442027 tn?1209866342 t mean all women will end up having problems. Before I had the hysterectomy I talked with countless women before I made up my mind and the majority of the women recommended the hyster. I am very glad I made the right choice and had the hyster because now I am pain free! It's a beautiful thing to live pain free and I suffered so many years with pain. Nina - have you tried using lubricant?
Avatar n tn I'm sorry you went through that. I too still have issues with my bladder, scar tissue, pelvic pain and I am pretty sure that the endo has returned/more cysts are developing 4 yrs post-op. I read your comment again (ihatemyscars) and saw that you explained why you felt so strongly against your procedure/hysterectomy. I hope that you won't take my previous comment too badly, I did not mean to come off as nasty.
Avatar n tn When I had my hysterectomy, my gynecologist took the works out. I'm talking the ovaries (well one, I had the other one removed last Dec.), uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes. The procedure he used was called lavh, laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy. I feel a lot better for it though. For me, I have a family history cervical and uterine cancer, which why the gynecologist took out everything. From what I understand though, there are other cancers us women can get.
553516 tn?1255867219 I am unaware of legal right outside of the USA, You should as the patient have the right to request a hysterectomy after you have had a long and informed conversation with your doctor. I understand what its like living with severe pain daily that was ultimatley my decision for a hysterectomy plus my uterus was very enlarged,You may have a ovarian cyst.
Avatar m tn I had a salpingo oopherectomy on both sides, a hysterectomy as well as a appendectomy on February 5th 2013. I am 27 years old. Since the procedure was done I have had severe lower abdominal pain while urinating. I have been very sick. Does anyone have an idea of what this pain is from?
Avatar n tn Hi: I forgot to include this question in my last post. I am postmenopausal (about a year and a half) & am scheduled for a complete hysterectomy. I read a lot about physical/emotion effects of hysterectomies on premenopausal women, but can't find any information about the physical and emotional effect on women who've already gone through menopause. Is there still some hormonal effect on 'p. m.' women?
Avatar m tn Some women who have had ablations have a procedure periodically to dilate their cervix to allow the blood to escape. I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago and I would describe it as the surgery that just keeps on giving (problem after problem). Of course, if nothing works to give you relief from this post ablation syndrome pain then you may have no other choice. Best of luck to you!
Avatar f tn s a common procedure, a hysterectomy is major surgery and takes easily 8 weeks to start feeling human again - particularly the open procedure. If lupron hasn't stopped your periods, then something is seriously whacko with your hormones. That's why it might be beneficial to see a hormone specialist (endochrinologist). They can be difficult to find outside a major city, but please think about it before venturing into major surgery.
Avatar f tn t want to talk to her gyn about all this before she knew whether or not she HAS to tell her gyn about the pregnancy before the procedure. Also, 2 women she knows work at her gyn office, and she really wants to keep the matter private. Even though the pills are more expensive than a procedure, she opted for the pills because in her mind she would be inducing her period as opposed to getting an abortion.
Avatar n tn I had the essure procedure done in 2011after I had my 7th child. please tell me why my periods are so painful and heavy now after my procedure? The literally make me sick and nauseous .
Avatar f tn So he wasn’t sure if he got it all, he recommended a hysterectomy. I was also still having a lot of bleeding and discomfort at the time and the doctor said that was normal? At the time I was in the process of moving to North Carolina and was very confused as to what to do. He said that either way I would need to find a doctor here in NC or return to Massachusetts to have the procedure done.
Avatar n tn t require a hysterectomy. The veins that supply blood to the fibroids are somehow blocked off from sending the blood to the tumors so that they shrink. I know it is done at a medical center where I live in N.Y. and it is a fairly new procedure but a good gyn should know about it. Ask your doctor about this and let him refer you to somewhere in your area that it's done, or call the gyn depts. at the medical center near you and find out if they have someone who can do it there.
Avatar f tn m truly happy about the outcome of my procedure-often women have one type addressed and end up having repeat surgery down the road, a path you don't want to go down. Women are often happy to have get away from periods, but the bigger pic is they are happy to regain a level of intimacy with their partners again. I never felt a loss of intimate sensation from my hysterectomy at 40 but there will be a heal curve with sensation after having POP surgery.
Avatar f tn It does reduce blood flow to the ovaries as well, so does result in menopause in approximately 15-20% of women over 45. Another very new procedure is the MRI-guided ultrasonic ablation of fibroids--although there is not a lot of data on this procedure--theoretically it would be less likely to cause a reduction in blood supply to the ovaries. Also, myomectomies can be performed laparoscopically in many instances--so no need for removal of ovaries, or big incisions, and no need for hormones.
Avatar f tn The 2nd is to perform a hysterectomy via an incision to my bikini line and leave my right ovary intact. The recovery time is exactly the same which made me feel a hysterectomy is my best option but now I'm having second thoughts. Can someone advise me?
