Avatar m tn I had a salpingo oopherectomy on both sides, a hysterectomy as well as a appendectomy on February 5th 2013. I am 27 years old. Since the procedure was done I have had severe lower abdominal pain while urinating. I have been very sick. Does anyone have an idea of what this pain is from?
Avatar n tn I had the essure procedure done in 2011after I had my 7th child. please tell me why my periods are so painful and heavy now after my procedure? The literally make me sick and nauseous .
Avatar f tn The 2nd is to perform a hysterectomy via an incision to my bikini line and leave my right ovary intact. The recovery time is exactly the same which made me feel a hysterectomy is my best option but now I'm having second thoughts. Can someone advise me?
Avatar n tn I have a fibroid about the size of a grapefruit on my uterus and at least 2 smaller ones. My doctor was going to try the procedure wherein they go in and cut off the blood supply to the fibroid when she thought it was just one. Now that she has learned through an ultrasound that there are multiple fibroids, she said that procedure is not an option as it would basically cut off the blood supply to the uterus if they did that for each fibroid.
Avatar n tn I am scheduled for a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy in 4 days. I started my period and will be on the light days at the end by the time i have surgery. Is this a contraindication for proceeding with the surgery or can this procedure occur at any time during the menstrual cycle?
Avatar n tn the ob/gyn has suggested me to undergo hysterectomy during the procedure if i have excess of bleeding during the procedure as i am anemic. i want to know the pros and cons regarding the hysterectomy ..how much risk will it involve on my life? please suggest???
Avatar n tn t want to go through a surgical procedure and then end up having to have a hysterectomy in the long run. Naturally, I also don't want to have a hysterectomy and end up with complications and am really afraid of menopause. Any advise you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn It was a complete hysterectomy, omentectomy, pelvic and paparotic lymphadenectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. It is recommended that I do taxo/carboplatin Chemo 6 treatments 3 weeks apart. The reason being that the peritonial washing had cancer cells. All the lymph nodes (24), omentum and staging biopsies were negative. I am not convinced to do the Chemo and want to be tested every month with a CA 125.
Avatar f tn I just had a hysterectomy the dr. originally told me I had a 7cm cyst in my left ovary When the operation was over he said it was a benign adenocarinoma tumor weighing 6 oz. Isn't adenocarcinoma cancer? could it have been precancerous and was about to turn. My husband heard the same thing .
8012558 tn?1399308657 I was not told by my doctor about any side effects that essure procedure can cause. The procedure itself was very painful and my doctor didn't give me any pain medication during the procedure. I did essure 5 years ago and since then I have experience nothing but the pain in my pelvic area. Doctor performed laparoscopy thinking it is endometriosis, but after the procedure I was told it was very mild and she was not sure if that was cause of my pain.
Avatar f tn I understand that you want the hysterectomy due to BRCA issues. But it's still an elective procedure. Perhaps you could postpone the surgery for a year or two, until the baby is less likely to have to be picked up constantly. With regular monitoring, you should be okay. Caught early, ovca is curable. Just a thought.
Avatar f tn The cervix is usually removed as well, and that entire procedure is called a total hysterectomy. There are two ways to do the surgery. The old-fashioned method is called a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, or TAH, meaning the work is done through an abdominal incision. Recovery time is easily 6 to 8 weeks. A Total Vaginal Hysterectomy (TVH) means the uterus and cervix are removed through the vagina.
Avatar n tn I called a gastro doc and he set up a colonoscopy. I had to prep 2 days before the procedure. The morning of the procedure I still was NOT cleaned out!!!! YUCK.......still had to have the test. Now come to find out i have COLONIC INTERIA, but NEVER had problems before the hysterectomy. Is it possible that my gyne screwed something up?? I have also been having problems with my left leg (nerve) and 2 small toes going a little numb on me................
Avatar f tn However, UFE is done by radiologists not gynecologists. So bottom line, that would be lost business for your gyn. Hysterectomy is very profitable and grossly overused so chances are many gyns will tell you to have a hysterectomy. I had one 10 years ago at age 49 and regret it every day. It is the surgery that keeps on giving "problem after problem." Best of luck in getting information and treatment that restores your health versus causing a whole new set of problems.
Avatar f tn you are usually asked to wait for 24 hrs befor you drive... and to have someone else drive you home after the procedure.
Avatar n tn Insurance companies now require this procedure before a hysterectomy because it is less money. Most women will end up with a hysterectomy. There are contraindications why you should not have NovaSure done but gynecologist perform the procedure even though the woman is not a candidate. Doctors are not necessarily well informed and many women suffer. I had the procedure in 2005 and I would never recommend this procedure to any one I cared about. NovaSure is basically a form of torture for women.
Avatar f tn I recently had a LEEP procedure done at the end of Feb. The next month when I did not have my regular period I went to my OB to find my cervix had scarred shut. He did a cervical dilation to allow me to drain and told me that if this did not work that I would need a D&C. I have read where this does not always work and a hysterectomy may have to be done. Does anyone know what percent of women with this condition end up having to have a hysterectomy?
Avatar f tn ve gotten some REALLY good advice regarding the hysterectomy. To undergo a completely unnecessary surgical procedure simply for birth control is far too radical. Since you are in very good health, have had NO problems with the Mirena and it's obviously working, why fix what isn't broken? Why take ANY unnecessary risks with a surgical procedure? My advice is have a new device fitted and let nature takes it's course!
Avatar f tn The procedure may be done using a local or spinal anesthesia, sometimes they put you into a twlight sleep,,drs usually use heat or freezing chemicals to take off edometrial layer,,,seems to be more common now than the D&C method,,,,in theory it should work...
Avatar f tn They also did the bladder sling procedure because of a prolapse. She developed a serious infection around the sling procedure and was treated with antibiotics. She also developed an over active bladder. The urogynecologist said there is no fistula, but rather her bladder has become over active because of the hysterectomy and the sling procedure. She also said that it is a temporary condition, but put her on Detrol. Her condition had not improved. In fact, it seems to be worse.
Avatar f tn please read up on just do a on-line search) a procedure called the DaVinci Robotic hysterectomy its the very best method out there..less bleeding, scaring, easier for both Dr and patient. I had this method and I have just four very small as in 1/4 inch scars on abdomen..yes it is a serious surgery. However in many cases and it sounds like in your case once done and past the 6 week healing it is soooooo very nice to be pain free.
Avatar f tn Sometimes a hysterectomy includes removal of one or both ovaries and fallopian tubes, a procedure called total hysterectomy with salpingo-oophorectomy. Abdominal hysterectomy usually requires a hospital stay of one to two days, but it could be longer. Don't lift anything heavy for a full six weeks after the operation and also avoid strenuous exercise and intercourse for 6 weeks after the operation.
553516 tn?1255867219 I am unaware of legal right outside of the USA, You should as the patient have the right to request a hysterectomy after you have had a long and informed conversation with your doctor. I understand what its like living with severe pain daily that was ultimatley my decision for a hysterectomy plus my uterus was very enlarged,You may have a ovarian cyst.
10123610 tn?1408029225 I am wondering if I should just opt for the hysterectomy instead. Since I do not know much about ablation I have been trying to find out which option would be better.
Avatar m tn //upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/d7/Kc_simulation2.png/220px-Kc_simulation2.png). When travelling in the car, I have difficulty identifying speed limit signs showing anything from 30, 50, 60, 80,90 since they all look like a blurred 80 until I am about 5 yards from them which is not satisfactory for driving purposes. When I saw the ophthalmologist last I complained about my visual deterioration and he said it was due to the scarring and nothing could be done.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. Recently I was diagnosed with endocervical adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS). I had a leep procedure and that's how it was discovered. I'm now scheduled to have a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I get to keep my ovaries. I'm 31, no children and I don't want any so that's not a problem for me. But I'm still struggling. I'm scared to have the hysterectomy because the recovery process seems so long and painful and one of my biggest fears is pain.
