Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy procedure estimated blood loss

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn t understand why your Dr would want do a hysterectomy if you are having no problems. They will keep a close eye on blood loss during your c-section and if you need blood you will get it. I don't see the reason for a hysterectomy though because of possible blood loss.
Avatar n tn it may be something as simple as dehydration, blood loss, infection, side effect of meds, or as complex as autonomic dysfunction/dysautonomia.
Avatar n tn I am told there are many benefits of the robotic system to include decreased recovery time, decreased blood loss and better vision during the procedure. In the end i just want to be well. The robotic system seems to lack long term studies and i do not want to be a statistic on the shortcomings of new technology. Which surgical type in your opinion is more beneficial? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have a fibroid about the size of a grapefruit on my uterus and at least 2 smaller ones. My doctor was going to try the procedure wherein they go in and cut off the blood supply to the fibroid when she thought it was just one. Now that she has learned through an ultrasound that there are multiple fibroids, she said that procedure is not an option as it would basically cut off the blood supply to the uterus if they did that for each fibroid.
Avatar f tn They have likely atrophied due to your hysterectomy and loss of blood flow and feedback loop with the uterus. The ovaries naturally shrink after menopause but they continue to produce hormones at least until age 80 in women who have all their parts. These hormones are essential to every aspect of health. Do a web search for "pubmed bilateral oophorectomy long term health" to understand the many repercussions / adverse effects of having ovaries (part of the endocrine system) removed.
Avatar n tn I received about 6 or 7 bags of blood transfusions because I was dying of blood loss with the same symptoms you had. My gyne did an emergency abdominal surgery to remove the fibroid but left my uterus intact. This was because I was only 37 at the time and was still hoping to have kids. In your case, since you're done with kids, having a hysterectomy is probably a good idea.
Avatar n tn Had My hysterectomy in Jan and now no health ins. due to job loss and divorce. Im really scared now what will happen to me as I just know I will need surgery to correct. Im really really in a bad situation just because I had a SLOPPY doctor do my hysterectomy and he was the head doc at GBMC hospital in baltimore! Sad thats the BEST they can do huh?
Avatar f tn From my experience, observations of women who had hysterectomies especially if they are several years post-op are usually more "telling" than what they say. For one, some are hesitant to share and many do not connect the after effects back to the surgery since some can take awhile to manifest.
Avatar n tn t want to go through a surgical procedure and then end up having to have a hysterectomy in the long run. Naturally, I also don't want to have a hysterectomy and end up with complications and am really afraid of menopause. Any advise you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn ve bled (plus just because your a thyroid patient) is go in and request a ferritin level check. Your ferritin can drop quickly and with that kind of blood loss you can become anemic. Symptoms are pretty much the same as hypo; hair loss, extreme fatigue, heart palps, etc. Also, I would do an Endometrial Ablation versus a hysterectomy. It's less invasive, an in and out procedure, and you end up with no period or one that requires a pantyliner (if that) for 1-2 days during your cycle.
Avatar f tn However, UFE is done by radiologists not gynecologists. So bottom line, that would be lost business for your gyn. Hysterectomy is very profitable and grossly overused so chances are many gyns will tell you to have a hysterectomy. I had one 10 years ago at age 49 and regret it every day. It is the surgery that keeps on giving "problem after problem." Best of luck in getting information and treatment that restores your health versus causing a whole new set of problems.
746058 tn?1248344665 Well I had my hysterectomy July 13th. I fainted in the hospital 3 hrs after surgery and almost fainted again today, which is 8 days post op. I tried to go on a walk but it left me so weak and faint I could barely get to the house. I had to stop in my neighbors yard which I sat on a retaining wall in the lawn till my hubby brought the car over to drive me home. Luckily my 6 yr old son was there or i would have never gotten any help.
Avatar n tn Insurance companies now require this procedure before a hysterectomy because it is less money. Most women will end up with a hysterectomy. There are contraindications why you should not have NovaSure done but gynecologist perform the procedure even though the woman is not a candidate. Doctors are not necessarily well informed and many women suffer. I had the procedure in 2005 and I would never recommend this procedure to any one I cared about. NovaSure is basically a form of torture for women.
Avatar m tn I had a salpingo oopherectomy on both sides, a hysterectomy as well as a appendectomy on February 5th 2013. I am 27 years old. Since the procedure was done I have had severe lower abdominal pain while urinating. I have been very sick. Does anyone have an idea of what this pain is from?
Avatar f tn I have read of some women having an in-office procedure done to stent the cervix and allow the blood to escape. Unfortunately, ablation is over-sold and many women are unaware of the long-term problems it can cause. A study published in 2008 showed that these problems can develop up to at least 8 years after the ablation and increase the risk for hysterectomy (to resolve the pelvic pain).
Avatar f tn The right side pumps blood to the lungs to be oxygenated, and if there is a loss of contractility the less blood supplied to the lungs reduces the amount of blood received to be pumped into circulation and the cardivascular system will begin to fail. The echo test takes about 45 miniutes and you will be inclined with electrodes to the chest and a hand held transducer by tech is moved over the area to be observed and recorded.
Avatar n tn I had the essure procedure done in 2011after I had my 7th child. please tell me why my periods are so painful and heavy now after my procedure? The literally make me sick and nauseous .
Avatar n tn No they did not - although I bled a lot - all the blood got trapped under my skin - the wound eventually opened about 2 cm and the blood oozed through it for nearly 4 weeks.
502070 tn?1210204494 Which procedure is best for correcting low testosterone (caused by the varicocele)? The varicicocele on my left testicle is obviously visible to the eye, so the ultrasound I have scheduled for next month to confirm it is not going to tell me anything I don't know, BUT I do not know whether I should request an embolisation or a microsurgical varicocele? I believe I have symptoms of low testosterone and would like to increase it; given that, which procedure is recommended?
Avatar f tn The 2nd is to perform a hysterectomy via an incision to my bikini line and leave my right ovary intact. The recovery time is exactly the same which made me feel a hysterectomy is my best option but now I'm having second thoughts. Can someone advise me?
Avatar n tn I really want to try to help you understand and persuade you that a laproscopic surgery is actually waaaayyyyy better than a trans abdomonal cut..there is also a new procedure called the DaVinci Robotic Assisted hysterectomy,,,drs can really see better with a laproscopic surgery...this is what happens,,they make four incisions about 1/4 inch one always at the top of navel and three at different spots on abdomen,,usually one left one righ one near pubic hair line...
Avatar m tn Estimated left ventricular ejection fraction was 70 %, in the range of 65 % to 70 %. Indications: Detection of coronary artery disease. Chest pain. Rest ECG: sinus tachycardia Procedure: The procedure was explained to the patient and informed consent was obtained. Treadmill exercise testing was performed, using the Bruce protocol. Stress and rest echocardiographic evaluation with 2D imaging was performed from multiple acoustic windows for evaluation of ventricular function.
Avatar f tn I never felt a loss of intimate sensation from my hysterectomy at 40 but there will be a heal curve with sensation after having POP surgery. Typically there are nerves cut through and nerves take a while to heal. I was able to regain my ability to orgasm but it does take longer to get there-however the intensity of sensation is great.
