Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy options alternatives

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn If so, was your hysterectomy a partial? There are other hormone alternatives on market that might be better. Have you spoken with your dr about other options?
Avatar f tn I am a very healthy 46 year old. I have 3 children and don't want anymore. I have had the mirena in for 10 years now and was looking for advice on a possible hysterectomy. I've only once had slight endometriosis before I started having my babies, over 17 years ago. No history of cancer, no heavy bleeding, no fibroids etc. I also haven't noticed any drastic menopause symptoms - no sweats, no mood swings etc.
Avatar f tn What I am saying is there are many options to think about, and imo a hepatologist is more likely to tailor pick the best options for you, especially if you show educated input and concern. These options could make all the difference for your outcome and reaction to the treatment. As a g2, if you treat no need for a bx. If you want to wait, bx might be a good idea. I got a fibroscan. There are fibrosis blood test available also.
647397 tn?1307056615 Almost a year ago my obgyn recomended me to get an hysterectomy due my uterine fiborids, i decided to wait and watch alternative, i have been doing all kind of alternatives since then, lots of dark green leaf salads, Homotoxicology from Heel products, Internet aclaimed remedies as Fibroid clear, at my 4th month now. I wonder if any of you got this hsyterectomy prognosis ahead of you and went by living with this "fear" on the shoulders daily?
Avatar m tn Hey there, I am looking for some information/personal experiences/advise etc., a hysterectomy. This may be a controversial topic for some, and I have thought ling and hard, and I am still thinking about it. I am 20 years old, and have endometriosis, adenomyosis and small cysts on my ovaries. My periods have always been exceptionally heavy, and have only got heavier and more painful.
Avatar n tn in 2007 I had serous-mucinous borderline ovarian cancer mass removed. adhesions to bowel. no implants. f/u now every 6 mos. w/transvaginal u/s and abdominal u/s. brac1 and 2 are negative. no sx. i am 50 in in menopause. My prior gynonc was ok to watch and monitor-he moved out of state. My new gynonc wants to do hysterectomy. WIth the low recurrence rate of this type, are there any alternatives to hysterectomy?
Avatar f tn 5/16 another ultrasound and the thickening is happening again, Doc said I need a hysterectomy but I want to know if there are any other alternatives to another surgery? I am PR positive so that leaves that option out for me.
Avatar n tn I have 2 cysts on an ovary and 2 fibroids. The doctor has talked to me about a myomectomy option vs. hysterectomy for the fibroid removal. I don't know which way to go on this. I'm concerned about the success rate of a myomectomy and don't want to go through a surgical procedure and then end up having to have a hysterectomy in the long run. Naturally, I also don't want to have a hysterectomy and end up with complications and am really afraid of menopause.
Avatar f tn Dose anyone have any thoughts of meds that are better alternatives to Verapamil? Is there another therapeutic drug with fewer side effects? My loved one is on two drugs, Crestor and Verapamil...but the fatigue is almost debillatating. Help....any thoughts. Any successes out there?
Avatar f tn Does any one know of a natural treatment of endometriois? I have had a hysterectomy but have one ovary left. It's been 2 mths since my surgery and the endo is back. My doc wants me to take the Lupron shot. But I can only have one more. Any help will be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I'm having a partial hysterectomy in Jan for other reasons than yours but if you've talked to your doctor and surgery at this point won't endanger your health if you decide not to have it or put it off then I wouldn't rush into it if you are apprehensive. I would also consider how long until you may start going through menopause and if you can live with the heavy periods.
Avatar f tn I had my appendix removed in sept of 2014 and they had found endometriosis on it. I didn't think anything of it because no one explained to me what endo was and they whizzed over my pathology report like it was no big deal. I started having BAD pain during sex and my periods have been awful. I decided to tell the doc and I recently had a pelvic exam done. OUCH. The Dr wanted to put me on Lupron but after a lot of research I've decided to keep my options open.
Avatar n tn m new to forum-after several sonograms and biopsy, dr today advised I should have full hysterectomy-scheduled for Monday. Findings on sonogram-complex cystic mass 3.8x2..2cms, several thick septations. Individual ovarian cysts w thick walls between them or even possibly a folded tubular structure such as hydrosalpinx. There is no free fliud in the cul-de-sac. Results of CA 125 were 6.5 but Dr still feels due to my age(59)and size of cysts there is a possiblity of cancer.
Avatar f tn Ladies who undergone hysterectomy or similar procedure, and happy with your surgeon, please help me with referrals! I would prefer Cedars Sinai, but any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy on Dec 2nd, they could not get the draining tube out. It has been over a month and it has not budged at all. They are telling me it could take 3 months or more for it to come out. Is this normal? What are my options if I want it out now. There is a very bad odor.
Avatar n tn There are some resources out there about the lifelong functions of the female organs and alternatives to hysterectomy if you want to do some additional research. I hope this helps you make a decision. Don't allow yourself to be rushed into any surgical procedure since you are stuck with the results, both good and bad. Of course, you need to make sure you maintain adequate iron levels. I wish you the best!
Avatar f tn If I have a hysterectomy, seeing how I had my tubes cut and they remove my uterus will I still have monthly periods? Also, we are going on a cruise in Oct, will I be complete healed by then? Thanks for your time.
Avatar f tn I had a complete Hysterectomy 3 mnths ago and have not felt right since. Emotionally and physically. There are so many changes my body has gone through. I have experienced weight gain, mood swings, leg cramps, fatigue and loss of interest in life. I have been taking Premarin a low dose. I just stopped taking it since I don't think it's helping anyways. Any suggestions on hormones or no hormones? Or alternatives?
Avatar n tn my mother (she's 46) had a complete hysterectomy 6 months ago and is unable to ever receive HRT due to health reasons. As a result she experiences intense uncontrollable emotions. I believe she is very depressed and i am concerned to the extent to which she may be so. Medically there is nothing they can do. Im trying to support her but i dont know how. Does anyone have any advice on how i could deal with this or how long she is likely to feel like this? Thanks!
Avatar n tn HAVING TROUBLE LOOSING WEIGHT EVERY SINCE I GOT MY FULL HYSTERECTOMY TRIED EVERY THING AND STILL NO WEIGHT LOSE DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT I CAN DO TO LOOSE IT
2004742 tn?1327656482 Unfortunately I dont think so : ( I had a partial hysterectomy 10 years ago at the age of 25 due to cervial cancer. My husband and I are on round 2 of IVF with a surrogate mother. She is wonderful, I coundnt have chose a better person (found her on ****.com) We are able to use my eggs but with you not having your ovaries unfortunately you will have to search out an egg donor. You may be able to find someone that will do both surrogacy and egg donation : ) Best of luck to you!!!
Avatar f tn My doctor tried to do a hysteroscopy and D&C on me (in hospital, general anesthesia) and said cervix is completely scarred shut. 3 weeks until my follow up. We still don't know what is the "area of concern" in my uterus. She mentioned we'll talk hysterectomy next. I'm 46. Do I have options? Trans vag US showed this area, unsuccessful Saline Ultrasound - the wall is up apparently. I do not want to play roulette. If doc thinks it is cancer, I want it out.
1521316 tn?1291128350 My husband and I are still TTC due to the doctor saying I will have to have a hysterectomy in about a year if it keeps coming back like this. What Im wondering is has anyone else gone through this? How long did it take you to get pregnant afterwards? Am I just being paranoid?? I know it is too soon to expect to get pregnant but im wondering if it will even happen...
Avatar f tn While there are treatment options like fat injections or buttocks implants available, it is unclear, without a direct examination, if these alternatives would be valuable. There is certainly the risk that any surgical correction with still leave you with limited improvement, or worse, a permanent residual deformity that makes you feel worse than you do now.
Avatar f tn I had my hysterectomy around 10 years ago (age 37) due to endo. No horror story from me. I found great relief from the surgery and my quality of life was improved 10-fold. Arriving at the decision to have surgery (LAVH c BSO) was not taken lightly and I did tons of research prior. Women with endometriosis generally have fewer negative feelings about their surgery than is typical when compared to other hysterectomy patients.
