Avatar m tn Hi - I am 60 and was diagnosed with Stage III Ovarian in early Sept. 20012. I was going to pre-admit at the hospital when they discovered that I was Renal failure - no symptoms. I entered the hospital and they fixed that though I had been in danger. I had surgery, but they couldn't do anything - tumor(s) were too large and everywhere. I had to have Chemo. at Florida Cancer center.. My Doc told me I had 27 months. Later on he said, "I'm going to fix you.

Avatar n tn Do adhesions from a Hysterectomy get worse or cause future complications if not surgically corrected or is it just to help the pain? Should this be performed by a surgeon or the GYN doctor who performed the Hysterectomy? Thank you!
447161 tn?1262923084 It says that my ovaries look normal and the 5cm cyst that was there, is now no longer there!! This is great news, but I still do have some choices to make. With my family history, my Gyn has left it up to me to either watch and wait (regular vaginal scans and CA125) until I am slightly older (or the reoccuring cysts turn nasty...!
Avatar n tn I am glad to hear that your sister recieved good news. Her Dr may still want to do a hysterectomy so as not to take any chances. But it sounds as though she is healthy, so she should do just fine. I wish you luck in your own battle with cancer.
Avatar f tn It sounds as if that may be good news. Don't worry. If you're having a hysterectomy....warning, prepare before the surgery for a few changes for a while.
Avatar f tn 3 days before her hysterectomy that was scheduled on a Tuesday she had been feeling weird and took a pregnancy test bc she thought what the heck y not. Guess what shes Pregnant. Its def a Miracle! Sometimes its good thing that doctors dont know it all and only god is in control. Ill be praying for ur miracle dont give up!
Avatar m tn I am terrified because the doctor had me sign surgical consent to a hysterectomy if necessary meaning that if the cyst was cancerous he would have to perform a hysterectomy. I am only 20 and have always wanted kids. Has anyone had a cyst this large and complex without cancer? How prepared should I be to receive a hysterectomy? Also I am getting and exploratory laparotomy- how much time does it take to recover from that?
Avatar m tn I expressed this to my doctor and he was willing to do a total hysterectomy on me, but he wants me to give the Seasonique a go before we proceed. He would do a full hysterectomy on me because of the endo, but my concern is that I simply do not want to age fast. I don't want to go through menopause and I heard sex gets weird after a hysterectomy. I don't want to be reliant on BC forever.
Avatar n tn For one thing, if you are going to lose your ovaries during this hysterectomy (called a complete or Radical hysterectomy) then you are losing a source of estrogen and testosterone. Your ovaries will continue to 'drip' some estrogen.. estradiol... until you are about 75 or 80. Your ovaries will also continue to drip some testosterone until you are about age 75. Of course, you won't get much in the way of these hormones but you get some.
Avatar m tn well found I had hpv, on top of that found out that pap smear was abnormal, not even 3 days later, found out it was cervical cancer. my ob was like, bad news is its adenocarcinoma which means its in your glands. its a rare form.... great!!!!! fantastic... luckily they caught it in time, because I found a dr who finally listened to me, but I needed a hysterectomy to get rid of it.
Avatar f tn That is great news!! Congrats on the benign finding. I am so sorry to hear about needing a wound vac. I am sure the dressing changes are uncomfotable. I have honestly never heard of them removing the staples that soon after surgery. Did they tell you why they were doing this? Just curious.
1222892 tn?1312148824 My question is this. I am having a complete hysterectomy next Wednesday May 12th. I am by no means shallow but I am VERY concerned on how much weight I will be gaining due to hormones etc. Any one have any suggestions on how to prevent this or what medicines to avoid??? Any advice will be greatly Appreciated.
Avatar n tn Hi: I forgot to include this question in my last post. I am postmenopausal (about a year and a half) & am scheduled for a complete hysterectomy. I read a lot about physical/emotion effects of hysterectomies on premenopausal women, but can't find any information about the physical and emotional effect on women who've already gone through menopause. Is there still some hormonal effect on 'p. m.' women?
922475 tn?1243962297 when you typr in your search dont just put Robotic hysterectomy, its actually called the "DaVinci Robotic Assisted Hysterectomy questions like how quick are hypothertical, never speculate as to what could happen,.
486831 tn?1209148864 Well - I had surgery on Monday. It looks like it was endometriosis. Had to do a full hysterectomy. Oh well - It WASN"T CANCER! Yippie! Of course they will do more in depth biopsy and that will take a few weeks. But doc said he was pretty confident. In a little bit of pain mostly in the shoulders from the laproscopy, but other than that doing well. I want to thank each and everyone on this board for their support, advice and encouragment. It's meant so much.
Avatar m tn I also would like some advice on what to talk to my doctor about, future MRI or CT scan, certain blood work, or maybe hysterectomy. This is the second scare I have had in the last year with all this menopause. Most recent was a swollen lymph nod in my breast that appeared on my mammogram which after an MRI doctor says nothing showed up so we have moved on, so now this endometrial situation has me concerned something serious maybe going on with my body.
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy in September, I still have both ovaries but no uterus. I was having pain on my left side 3 days ago(still am) I went to the ER, they did a CT scan and the results I received are: 9cm circumscribed Lt adenexal systic lesion w/mural mass, cannot exclude neoplasm. 2.5 cm cystoc right adenexal, no free fluid or sig pelvic adenopathy. I was told to make appt as soon as possible. Can't see the Dr. until next Tuesday. Can you please tell me what this means.
Avatar f tn I'm 38 and in a few months, I am scheduled to get a hysterectomy due to uterine prolapse. I'll also have my cervix removed due to history of polyps (benign). The intention would be to leave my ovaries. My mother had a hysterectomy at 50 due to heavy bleeding issues, but I recently found out that she had precancerous cells in her ovaries - haven't had this discussion with my doctor yet since it's new news.
883607 tn?1241847511 That is an awesome suggestion for a tracker...there is alot of depression...would be great to post something funny and not offend anyone.
211043 tn?1337050701 Well it's not cancer, but it is NOT good, DEFINITELY NOT good :o( For those who don't know, I had a lap done on July 1st and they found over 100 spots of what he told me was a 50% chance endometriosis and 50% chance adhesions (scar tissue). He explained them further to me today, and told me they were small, clear cysts. Of course, as with everything with me, this is something weird and rare and not entirely definable.
Avatar f tn i had a total hysterectomy 16yrs ago where also they took both my ovaries. after just visiting the loo i found that i had quite a bit of brown on my underwear along with some bright red spots of blood and this was also on the bathroom tissue. as i am writing this i am starting to get some pain in my lower abdomen. i am getting a little worried.
Avatar n tn - I wrote back in December because I was having horrible pains in left ovary area and had slightly elevated CA125. Had a complete hysterectomy in January - turned out I had scar tissue from a 15 year old surgery that had attached to ovary, uterus, colon. Apparently it was pulling and tugging on organs causing pains. 6 Weeks later, I'm feeling great and greatly relieved. Thanks for your help.
