Hysterectomy mood swings

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy mood swings

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn He has increased the dosage since and where the hot flashes are subsiding, the mood swings are now way out of control. Watching a commercial can literally send me into a complete crying tail spin. I have tried over the counter hormone creams, vitamins such as black cohash and all kinds of other things that "older" ladies have recommended and nothing seems to be working. I am not depressed or anything like that so i do not need those type medications.
Avatar f tn Extreme doesn’t even explain what I go through. Has anyone ever had a hysterectomy to stop the mood swings?
Avatar n tn Have you had your thyroid checked? This may be a partial cause of mood swings. Try lower carb diet / cutting sugars and exercise to help naturally with mood swings. Sorry you are feeling bad.
973741 tn?1342342773 Who is having mood swings due to hormonal changes and how do you handle it??
Avatar n tn Hi Katy, For me, it seems that the hot flashes and mood swings go hand in hand. It got so bad last summer that the doc started me on HRT. A few weeks later the hot flashes and mood swings started to mellow out, which was a BIG relief, but then I started having other problems. My breasts were sore and tender all the time, my joints started aching, especially my knees and hips, and I gained 10 lbs, which is unusual for me, as my weight has always been fairly stable.
Avatar f tn You may need to take hormones because you can have hot flashes and mood swings after the surgery. I would recommend talking to your Dr about this before the surgery. For 6 weeks you should try to rest as much as possible, not take stairs, lift anything heavy or have sex. Even though you will probably be feeling much better by then your still going to be healing inside so stick to the 6 week Drs orders.
Avatar f tn It turns out I had Adnomyosis and was full of fibroids even tho nothing showed up on previous testing. I am glad I made the right decision to have the surgery but now my mood swings are off the charts and I feel like I'm going crazy and losing control. I also suffer from panic disorder that I had under control without meds up untill now.
405824 tn?1201817954 I had all the typical symptoms of menopause even though mine was surgical menopause. My ongoing problem is severe mood swings. About 5 years ago I found myself actually hysterical and didn't know what to do. I was to the point where I almost admitted myself to an Emergency Room for some kind of help. I asked my pulmonary doctor for something and he gave me something (I don't remember what) with the stipulation I see someone. I did.
Avatar f tn Studies show that ovary removal or post-hysterectomy ovarian failure increases risk for many health problems including heart disease (the #1 killer of women), osteoporosis, hip fracture, cognitive and memory impairment, dementia, Parkinsonism, mood disorders (depression, mood swings, anxiety, irritability), vision and skin changes, poor sleep quality, urogenital atrophy, sexual dysfunction, more severe hot flushes (I think that's all of them!).
Avatar m tn Hot flashes, wakeful nights and mood swings, probably. If you aren't having those, you probably don't need hormones. Your doctor should be able to advise you.
Avatar n tn I am wondering why I am loosing so much hair after my complete (my ovaries are out too)hysterectomy? I was on 1 mg of Estrace which was very helpful the first month or two.I felt so incredibly good. My hot flashes were gone completely, and my moods swings were stable. Then after about one and a half months my hot flashes and mood swings came back with a vengeance.Because I couldn't get in to see the Dr. for another 2 months I started taking 1 and 1/2 mg of Estrace for another month.
Avatar f tn I agree with HVAC. Ovarian cysts / masses can cause changes in hormones so, yes, breast sensitivity and mood swings are possible. Is your doctor monitoring it for now since it is not too large? If it does need to be removed, hopefully, you will have a surgeon who can remove just the cyst since you only have one ovary and need to count on it for producing hormones the rest of your life. Speaking from personal experience, surgical menopause is a hellish existence!
Avatar f tn I too had a complete hysterectomy 11 years ago and had severe mood swings at about 2 months out from my surgery to the point of being suicidal...as the estrogen that had been in my "fat cells" had been depleted and although they did have me on a patch it was not enough for my needs...so it took a while to sort it out but I am ok now...my symptoms are tolerable most days with just the estrogen patch...
Avatar f tn Are you having any problems now with menopause, like night sweats and mood swings? With you high HPV risk you should be getting paps done on a very regular basis. Are you taking any thyroid meds? Sorry about all of the questions but the more we know the better we can help you.
Avatar f tn If you do have to have a hysterectomy there are hormone options that will help you with the possible mood swings and hot flashes. Some women do well with out hormones and others don't. We're here to help in any way we can.
Avatar n tn Hi Blueberryhill, There are a few antidepressants that help with the hot flashes and mood swings. Effexor, Cellexa and Prozac. I have heard Neurontin also can be helpful. She should discuss her options with her Dr. I am also 46 and tried to go without HRT after my hysterectomy in Jan. because of family history. It was very difficult and I am now on an estrogen patch. I feel much, much better. I really feel for your mom and hope she tries some of the options available to her.
Avatar n tn 1 week ago i had a partical hysterectomy with removal of my left tube and ovary i keep hearing all these stories about mood swings hot flashes growing facial hair ect im only 29 should i be on some type of hormones,,,i am not sure what i should expect any ideas
Avatar m tn This is a question only your Dr can answer for sure. You also need to talk to your Dr about the mood swings. It could be because of hormones or because of depression.
Avatar f tn Can you still have menopause 7 years after Hysterectomy. I have a list of symptoms as long as my arm, the main ones being really bad fatigue, vaginal dryness/itching, aching joints, mood swings, sudden tears, hot sweats, headaches, and no energy to name a few - I feel like i´m going mad. I did not really have any symptoms after my operation but as the years have gone on there is definately something happening and it´not nice. Any advice would be appreciated.
