Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy methods

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn another form of hysterectomy is when they leave cervix in place...this helps prevent prolapse.....in any of the hysterectomy methods there is zero chance of pregnancy. as above said in a full hyster all female reproductive organs are removed,,,uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and cervix...they sew top of vagina area where cervix once was to leave vagina functional, when healed sex is possible, orgasms still happen most find them less intense though.
Avatar m tn I have connected with a number of women who suffered surgical damage from hysterectomy, da Vinci as well as other methods. Most of theirs was nerve damage but some were bladder, ureter, or bowel damage. I am not sure what my damages were/are but I have had bowel issues ever since my hysterectomy (severe diarrhea for many months post-op). My surgery was not da Vinci though. It appears that the da Vinci is more likely to cause harm than other methods.
Avatar n tn Hi I have had constipation problems the past 2 years since my hysterectomy. The last 3 months I've had severe ruq pain especially after I eat I've lost 30lbs and can only take in clear liquids. I also have nausea I've been diagnosed with IBS - C but none of the medications work or laxatives work I can get some relief with 2 to 3 bottles of mag citrate and enemas but I have liquid green watery stool. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn No one can really answer that as its a hypothetical question.
Avatar f tn I have had an hysterectomy, so would like to know if we still need to use 2 methods of contraception, or any contraception at all in fact. Many thanks for any assistance!
Avatar n tn Other than that surgical treatment myomectomy which is removal of the fibroid (by surgery, laparoscopic or hysteroscopic methods) may also be entertained. Last resort is hysterectomy. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn My doctor suggests that I get a hysterectomy. I do not want to try any medications because I feel that they will only mask the problem and eventually I will have to deal with it. I have two children, and don't plan on having additional children. My doctor suggested performing the hysterectomy laparoscopically to avoid opening me up again. She will remove the endometriosis through coagulation. Do you think that these two methods are the appropriate treatment?
Avatar m tn My girlfriend is 42. She had a full hysterectomy including removal of her ovaries. What is the best hormone replacement therapy and what hormones are necessary? How can she stay healthy, not gain weight and still be interested in sex? Any other advice about this whole situation would be helpful and appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have 4 small fibroids, one near the cervice (which is what is causing bleeding - very little though.) The dr wants to me to have a hysterectomy and also remove my ovaries, not sure about the cervix. I only want the fibroids removed from my uterus. He says that because of my age I do not need my uterus and for cancer prevention I should have it removed as well as my ovaries. My husband and I have an amazing sex life and I do not want the jeopordized because of the removal of my ovaries.
Avatar m tn Hello, Pain is a common symptom associated with fibroid and Anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen and mefenamic acid may help in easing this pain. Surgical methods are the mainstay of treatment include hysterectomy, or removal of the uterus (and the fibroids with it). Myomectomy is the selective removal of just the fibroids within the uterus. Myomectomy can be done through a laparoscope and hence you can opt for it.
7930203 tn?1395494387 I have not done birth control and have stuck with mostly natural methods. How much longer before this intense bleeding stops? Is surgery the only option?
922475 tn?1243962297 when you typr in your search dont just put Robotic hysterectomy, its actually called the "DaVinci Robotic Assisted Hysterectomy questions like how quick are hypothertical, never speculate as to what could happen,.
Avatar f tn s shocking that no doctor connected these symptoms with your hysterectomy. Hysterectomy has been shown to impair ovarian function. That impairment can be complete (as if the ovaries were removed) or partial. A woman with all her parts and in natural menopause has been shown via studies to have higher levels of hormones than women who have had hysterectomies, even those whose ovaries were not removed. I was a complete basket case after my uterus and ovaries were removed 12 years ago.
Avatar n tn in oct. 2010, i had a total hysterectomy. in nov. 2010, i had another ca125, with a result of 59.1. now my dr. refuses to give me any chemo. why is that? i am extremely worried.
Avatar n tn I am wondering why I am loosing so much hair after my complete (my ovaries are out too)hysterectomy? I was on 1 mg of Estrace which was very helpful the first month or two.I felt so incredibly good. My hot flashes were gone completely, and my moods swings were stable. Then after about one and a half months my hot flashes and mood swings came back with a vengeance.Because I couldn't get in to see the Dr. for another 2 months I started taking 1 and 1/2 mg of Estrace for another month.
Avatar n tn I masterbate on the right side to help releave the agitation. the doctor told me no BV, or yeast or std. I had full hysterectomy in 2003 due to uterusprolapse. Went to several doctors visists. This persistent arousal on the right side of my vagina is unbearable. I am seeing psychologist, and therapist. In addition to taking medications. I'm thinking it may be a persistent genital arousal disorder but then i can't understand why is it only aggitating me on the right side of te pelvic?
Avatar f tn I'm sorry, this will probably be a long read, but it's much appreciated if you give your time to read it. I'm seventeen and would like to have a hysterectomy. It seems to be frowned upon to want to make this kind of decision at this age but hear me out, please. I started getting my menstrual cycle at nine years old, which is normal and everything was fine for the first year. I had very short and light cycles, but gradually, things got a lot worse.
Avatar f tn Medical studies clearly show the harm of ovary removal or post-hysterectomy ovarian failure. Hysterectomy changes the figure too as well as other things (such as bladder, bowel, and sexual function). Hysterectomy and ovary removal (along with c-section) are the most overused surgeries. Only 2% are done for a cancer diagnosis. Even ACOG says that most hysterectomies are unwarranted with 76% not meeting their criteria.
804966 tn?1261895278 I would like to know if any of you suffer from clots and had a hysterectomy? I am not going to be able to take hormones. If you have had a vaginal hysterectomy I woulod like to know how you are doing and if you ahve any side effects and what you may be feeling? Please I would like as much info as I can get before my surgery on May 12th. Thank you!!
Avatar f tn I am having surgery the end of May and not sure if I should opt to have my ovaries removed or not. I am 46 and my hysterectomy is currently involves only the removal of my uterus due to fibroids. My OB informed me that there is a 15% chance of getting ovarian cancer. Can someone give me some of the pros and cons, I'm right in the middle and can't make a comfortable decision. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I am 39 with similar symptoms and contemplating endometrial ablation and fibroid removal as alternative to the hysterectomy. I would definitely get a second/third opinion as my OB-GYN recommended another OB/GYN for additional evauluation and treatment.
Avatar f tn I am 43 and want to concieve naturally. I would appreciate your input and stories of success with natural methods. Thank you!
