Avatar f tn Does any one know of a natural treatment of endometriois? I have had a hysterectomy but have one ovary left. It's been 2 mths since my surgery and the endo is back. My doc wants me to take the Lupron shot. But I can only have one more. Any help will be appreciated.
1819252 tn?1317092002 peri-menopause (premenopause), menopause, and post-menopause. Hormone replacement is the answer to these problems. Bio-identical hormone therapy (BHT) and adding oestrogenic foods such as tofu, legumes may also help. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
1073454 tn?1317494199 I was fortunate in that I did not lose ovaries until after completing a natural menopause so I do not have the wisdom of experience to share with you. Others have prevented early menopause by hormone replacement. There's a patch that some have used with good results. All the other symptoms you mentioned can be prevented with a good hormone replacement until you are closer to a natural menopause age.
Avatar f tn A woman with all her parts and in natural menopause has been shown via studies to have higher levels of hormones than women who have had hysterectomies, even those whose ovaries were not removed. I was a complete basket case after my uterus and ovaries were removed 12 years ago. The effects on my brain were extreme - severe depression and inability to think, concentrate and remember. I had little energy and often felt shaky. I aged rapidly - lost so much hair and skin collagen.
491716 tn?1211048106 Oftentimes a hysterectomy will put a woman into early menopause. Those common symptoms of menopause are due to an imbalance of hormones between the gonads (which are now producing much less progesterone) and the adrenal gland, which now needs to take up the slack and begin the produce the now needed progesterone. If this doesn't happen, a woman will become Estrogen Dominant. And that can develop into many other health concerns.
14774527 tn?1436560759 Your symptoms could be an indication that you are going into menopause or that your ovary is failing completely. The ovaries of women who are in natural menopause produce hormones up to at least age 80. Hysterectomy can cause an earlier menopause or complete ovarian failure. Having your hormone levels checked may be helpful (estradiol and FSH). Estrogen deficiency is associated with a number of increased health risks along with some debilitating symptoms.
Avatar n tn ve had and the length of time you have nursed your children has an effect on how you will handle menopause (natural menopause) but I can only quote the source and not the thorough explanation... Dr. Erika Scwartz has some books out that are very interesting in that she explains how this need for hormonal help has become more and more necessary as families are shrinking and environmental issues play havoc with our hormone systems. It does get complicated.
621426 tn?1221537052 I had a complete hysterectomy back in December, no meds have been given to me since then. I had already menapaused at 36 an 9 yrs later I had the hysterectomy. I have become agitated very easily, anxious, and depressed. I believe it has something to do with my hormones or lack of them. I went to a Dr.
Avatar m tn I can relate! Did you go through natural menopause or "induced" menopause? My skin aged horrifically fast after an unwarranted hysterectomy even though I have been on HRT. My naturally menopausal sisters' and cousins' skin does not look nearly as old as mine.
Avatar m tn m getting an early glimpse of menopause. Your body natural progression to menopause I would think would be easier to handle to some point. Best of luck to you!
1472677 tn?1330175915 It has been a year since my TOTAL hysterectomy. I have seen four OBGYN specialist's since then. Not one has given me any answers about after care. I am on Estrogen (low dose). My estrogen level is still low along with all the factors. I am having stoach pain, my skin is wrinkly, vaginal dryness, cracked nails, a lot of back pain, night sweats, I am pale all the time, sex forget it for the pain is unbearable, urin sprays all over, depression, mood swings and a lot more....
476246 tn?1418870914 Because of rapidly declining estrogen levels, the hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and atrophy caused by chemotherapy-induced menopause may be more severe than the symptoms with natural menopause. As with natural menopause, the vaginal symptoms can lead to difficult or painful intercourse and sexual dysfunction. The psychological symptoms associated with premature menopause appear to be the same as the symptoms associated with natural menopause.
1321741 tn?1304530624 Some women do very well without HRT and some do not. Your around the age where natural menopause would be happening, but you've had a complete hysterectomy so you are not and will not be getting natural hormones in to your system. You can always try to stop the meds and see how you do. I know I'm not answering your question but it's really hard to say how long you will need to be on them.
Avatar f tn I am a very healthy 46 year old. I have 3 children and don't want anymore. I have had the mirena in for 10 years now and was looking for advice on a possible hysterectomy. I've only once had slight endometriosis before I started having my babies, over 17 years ago. No history of cancer, no heavy bleeding, no fibroids etc. I also haven't noticed any drastic menopause symptoms - no sweats, no mood swings etc.
Business woman2 Hi Purple, After your hysterectomy, did they not put you on HRT, as this would have sorted your hormones out, because that would have stop you hot flushs and night sweats, thats if you were a good candidate, or you could try Black Cohosh.
Avatar f tn If they were not removed, this could be symptoms of natural menopause or a more severe menopause if the ovaries are shutting down. Studies show that naturally menopausal ovaries produce hormones until at least age 80. Hysterectomy with ovary preservation can cause the ovaries to die which increases risk for a number of health problems such as heart disease and osteoporosis. Estrogen typically alleviates the symptoms you are experiencing.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and noticed an increase in the symptoms of menopause, especially hot flashes. My gynocologist perscribed estrogel which I have found somewhat helpful for the hot flashes, but I had lost 30 lbs before the surgery, and now have gained it all back and more. I feel very drained mentally, physically and emotionally. I prefer not to used synthetic drugs and hormones. Can you recommend a relief for the hot flashes, and maybe the rest of the unwanted symptoms.
Avatar f tn I had a total hysterectomy in January of 2008 because I had endometriosis everywhere. Since that time I still feel as though I have the same pain from the endometriosis as prior to the surgery. Also I have some bleeding after sex. Is the bleeding something I should be concerned about? Can endometriosis spread to other organs in your body? I guess I'm not as educated on this as I should be. If anyone knows please contact me. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn First, I will apologize for asking this question because I know it is very trivial, and there are so many others that are important. Second, I would like to know about the great days a head that's associated with menopause. Now, I don't feel it because I am almost a month late, and for the majority of 39.5 years of having a period, they have been normal. I am very miserable. I feel like I am 2 or 3 feet tall and 5 feet wide.
Avatar n tn I had a radical hysterectomy followed by chemotherapy for ovarian cancer in '07. I have had a terrible time losing weight, I cry easily, I have hot flashes, and insomnia. I cannot take HRT due to my cancer and family history of breast cancer. Are there any natural products I can use to help any of these symptoms? Will soy milk be of any help or am I putting myself at risk of breast cancer.
Avatar f tn especially, natural progesterone (made from natural mexican wild yams that mimic progesterone). You can also speak to a pharmacist from a "compounding pharmacy" to see what there may be in terms of your history. Better yet, speak to your doc about this idea. I've also heard that Black Cohosh and a few other herbs from healthfood stores (NOT Red Clover as I believe but, could be wrong that it stirs up estrogen).
Avatar f tn therapy (HRT) can be helpful for women going through a severe natural menopause or those in surgical or induced menopause (from ovary removal or post-hysterectomy ovarian failure).
Avatar f tn i am past menopause. the dr is going to do a complete hysterectomy on me. will i go through menopause again. how will i feel emotionally and physically. i have adhesions so they have to open me up. please help me. i have an ovarian cyst and a thickened endometrium.
Avatar n tn Yes, if you have a total hysterectomy you will go into menopause. Your ovaries provide hormones that keep you in the reproductive stage of your life. When the ovaries slow down or stop functioning (as in a total hysterectomy) then you go into menopause. I am in menopause and dealing with hot flashes daily. My sister had chemo and radiation for breast cancer. Chemo targets fast growing cells which includes cancer cells, ovaries, and hair (which explains why you go bald).
Avatar f tn s also a possibility that you would need hormones because you will be put in to surgical menopause. Are you having any problems now with menopause, like night sweats and mood swings? With you high HPV risk you should be getting paps done on a very regular basis. Are you taking any thyroid meds? Sorry about all of the questions but the more we know the better we can help you.
1089270 tn?1257174234 I had a Complete Hysterectomy (Surgical Menopause) and have gained over 30 pounds. Prior to this surgery, I was athletic and toned. The lack of hormones taken during surgery make me less energetic. I have been taking natural hormones and feel better. I have joined Curves and have been feeling better. I am bound and determined to get this weight off. I use to weigh 140 and now I weigh 179. I know it will take some time to remove this weight, but I know I can do it! One day at a time.
195145 tn?1255636447 She did go through a menopause like condition when she had the hysterectomy (so she says) and then menopause hit her full force at a few years ago at 50. But if you do have the ovaries removed then some sort of menopause is going to be expected. I think the severity differs by woman. Fears (this is going to be funny, sarcastic and TMI and an effort to cheer you up): Surgery...they are all scary, I'll give you that, but an ovary, tubes and uterus have to weigh something...
