hysterectomy

Avatar f tn t have confidence in the doctor, you can cancel and reschedule when you find a doctor you like better. But probably, if he knows you want to keep the one ovary, he will try harder to keep it.
Avatar f tn What would be the reason behind the removal of the left ovary and the uterus due to one large and several smaller fibroids, but to leave the right ovary behind? What are the benefits and problems associated with the remaining ovary? Can eggs still be harvested for future use.
Avatar n tn I have left only half of one ovary. The though of having a child have never crused my mind, But now i was at the ginecolgist and he toll me that its possible to take out som eggs from me, i wonder if that really its possible, its seems like surreal for me, at the same time im happy if i could do something like that. The problm is that for one month ago i have start experienced som heats in my body and i find out that i have develop an early menopausy.
351724 tn?1267537018 ive also told him ide rather leave one ovary in because im only 31 and i rather not go through menapause at that age . and if theres something wrong with that other ovary ill deal with ti later and get through this fine ! and thank you for responding to my post !
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy but they had to leave part of one ovary because it's attached to my intestines, now I have a cyst and I m in pain all the time. They said probably have to get another surgery in which they have to cut part of intestines in order to remove the remaining part of my ovary. What should I expect?
Avatar n tn My doc wants to take out both ovaries,\ and tubes, but only one is bad. If one ovary looks ok, should it come out also if one is past menopause?
Avatar f tn There is a study that says there is about a 40% risk of ovarian failure after hysterectomy. Another study says that the risk of ovarian failure is greater if one ovary is removed at the time of hysterectomy. It is a shame that your surgeon didn't remove the ovarian cyst and leave your ovary but that seems to be far too common. I had nothing wrong except an ovarian cyst and all my organs were removed.
Avatar n tn Hi i am recovering at the moment from a full abdominal hysterectomy. however the next day after the opp the Dr said to me," you didnt tell me you had had previous surgery", i replied i havent, he continued to tell me that my right ovary was missing. 9 years ago i had a section to deliver my second baby as i had a placental abruption and had to undergo an emergency section to deliver the baby. He was to leave my ovarys alone for hormone reasons.
398893 tn?1201315707 I had a hysterectomy done in 2004 because of Endometriosis and they left one ovary in and I was wanting to know, Is it possible that the endometriosis could come back into my one ovary? I still have severe stomach and plevis pain at times with some Sharp shooting pains in the Pelvic area....Anyone have any info that might help me? Please.......
Avatar m tn My sister is a 45 postmenopausal female which is because of two much fibroid(30 pcs) did hysterectomy two days ago and one ovary removed , one ovary remained ,I need to know does this one ovary can support enough hormone(Estrogen ,progesterone) for her body and does she have menstrual cycle or no ?
Avatar f tn i cant give you any adivse as to what to do, but i can tell you my story and maybe that might help. I was 26 yrs old when I had a hysterectomy ( I had a son and daughter already) for the same reason as pre cancerous cells. At that time that was the only thing they could do, they did leave one ovary. I'm 50 yrs old and having trouble again with the remaining ovary and I wish I had it removed with everything else.
1022162 tn?1258069511 Thank you everyone for all of your comments. I am 37 and when I had my left ovary and tube removed in April 2010 it was Emergancy surgery. My ovary twisted 3 times and was bleeding into my tube pain was horrible worse than giving birth so I didn't have much say in that. I have spoken with my doctor done some online research and now my problem is heavy heavy periods every 2 weeks. I am having a hysterectomy taking out my uterus and cervics and leaving my one ovary that I have.
Avatar f tn The 2nd is to perform a hysterectomy via an incision to my bikini line and leave my right ovary intact. The recovery time is exactly the same which made me feel a hysterectomy is my best option but now I'm having second thoughts. Can someone advise me?
Avatar n tn They can remove only the uterus and leave the ovaries, they can remove the ovaries and leave the uterus, or they can leave the uterus and remove only one ovary and tube and leave the other side.
Avatar f tn You could theoretically leave the left ovary, and derive some benefit from it after the Tamoxifen therapy is over (usually 5 years). But if you were my patient, I think I would want to talk you out of AT LEAST the cystic ovary( if persistent) and the uterus. By the way, if the cyst is benign, you could be a candidate for a supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy, or a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy with removal of ovary(s).
Avatar f tn My options are 1. take left ovary and do nothing else 2. take left, do ablation. 3. take left, take uterus, leave rt ovary so i don't go through menopause. 4. take it all, there is a chance once on the table that I might also have endometriosis. So if anyone has any advice or experience to say please let me know. As of right now i have not decided what all im taking out or leaving in. Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn I have cysts on both ovaries and they felt that originally the blood tests for cancer were above normal, so I think they were erring on the side of caution. The surgeon says I will be prone to more if I leave one ovary (if he can save it), so I might end up having the operation again. It is the surgical menopause that puts me off really. Really good to hear something positive about vertical incision. Sounds as if you had alot done, how long ago did you have it done. And how do you feel now?
Avatar f tn My doctor performed an endometrial ablation 3 years ago due to heavy bleeding, but that has proven to be a useless endeavor since my bleeding not only did not stop but at this point has resumed to be a normal period. At this point my Dr is recommending a partial hysterectomy and would leave at least one ovary. However due to both my own medical history and that of my family the idea of leaving the offending organs in place seems to me not to be a good idea.
Avatar n tn I am 45 yrs old just had hysterectomy 5 weeks ago, with one ovary left. Approx 2-3wks after surgery I began having severe mood swings, crying, agitation, irritibility, night sweats, hot flashes, you name it. This is really interfering with my day to day life. I just had a blood test and Dr's office called back to say all FSH levels were not in the menopausal range.
Avatar f tn Hysterectomy might be the best treatment for you with such a complex history. Removal of whatever is left (utererus, ovaries). If still too young for menopause, perhaps one ovary can remain, but with the cystic history you could still have cyst problems with it.
Avatar f tn I am scared with having the anxiety problem anyway that it will throw me way out of wack. If I leave the right ovary will it help regulate my hormones or will I still need HRT. Someone on the anxiety forum posted awhile back about people with panic attacks feeling alot better after having a total hysterectomy and their panic attacks stop. Does anyone have any experience with panic disorder and having a hysterectomy?
489774 tn?1212935663 Because you have been otherwise healthy and since you feel so strongly on the hormone side I would suggest that if the other ovary is OK to leave it in place and to improve your quality of life by removing your uterus. Good luck and hope all goes well for you.
Avatar f tn When I had to have my ovary with a complex cyst removed I signed a form giving my gyno permission to do a hysterectomy if one needed to be done. I was also having issues with having irregular cycles ( having two a month..). She told me that it would only take a little bit to find out the pathology report and she would know the answer while I was still on the operating table and would decide on the hysterectomy once she got an answer from pathology.
Avatar n tn My ovaries both have cysts and with my heavy bleeding and thickened uterus lining they are recommending removing everything. She did say if one ovary is ok she would leave it if I requested it. My issue is blood clotting disorder so they want to do as few surgeries as possible since I clot more than normal.
10123610 tn?1408029225 its easy you will need a surgery , my mom just had one the hysterectomy it went fine , she better now , and no bleeding anymore , its better to get rid of it cause cyst can be real painful and they keep on growing, you will just need to take leave one ovary so your hormones wont get crazy .
Avatar f tn Just days before the hysterectomy I was told I had a nodule on my left ovary. The dr went ahead and did the hysterectomy and took my fallopian tube. After she ordered an ultrasound and I was told the nodule was gone. When dealing with my gastro dr I was complaining about the same pain I’ve had for over a year now in the flank area wondering if he could help or find something because no one seems interested and they make me feel like I’m making it up.
Avatar f tn I have sever at times. I had total hysterectomy 4 years ago, and last year I was diagnosed with a 3.5 cm cyst. My Dr told me it was reminent of an ovary. He put me on Birth control pills. I feel fine on that, but the pain is still unbearable. Any one having similr issues and what r u doing to re leave pain?
