hysterectomy

Avatar n tn Hi, I just did a Google search to see if it made a difference whether you had an abdominal surgery (hysterectomy) or a LAVH. It seems, according to some of the google hits that showed up, that you might have fewer surgical adhesions after a LAVH but that technically they don't really discriminate. For a very informative explanation of just what adhesions are, I suggest WebMD, which I just found after my google search (my search was, "Surgical adhesions after LAVH surgery.
Avatar f tn On left side and between belly button and incision, have had a pain there like a nerve pain, burns and stings, can only sleep on my back, to have no pain, standing no pain. only when I get up and down or sit for very long and lay on side or stomach it feels like I have been branded and like something is pushing on something against my belly button when I lay on side. My right side is great no pain at all. I am 2 weeks post op, hoping this will get better and I can start sleeping better.
Avatar f tn t dissolvable stitches, it seems like you should be getting those stitches out! Also, since you have a gyn, and this is a hysterectomy forum, I'm assuming your female. You may want to change your profile to reflect that. They used dissolvable stitches internally for my hysterectomy and removed the external staples before I left the hospital (three day stay).
Avatar f tn I had a LAVH along with bladder repair on June 13th. I was cleared by my Gyn at the 2 week check-up to return to most activities. Five weeks earlier, I had arthroscopic knee surgery and really needed to get back on the exercise bike to help with that therapy. I started back at the gym this week working on the bike. I'm now having pains in the lower right side of my belly. When I cough or sneeze it now feels like someone is poking me with a sharp stick.
Avatar f tn I am almost 4 weeks post-op LAVH (vaginal assisted laproscopic hysterectomy) and have experienced heavy bleeding for almost a week. It is as if I am having a period with clots and bright red blood. I called my Dr and had to leave a message with the nurse that I had started bleeding. She called me back and said it was normal, but I am still concerned. This just doesn't seem normal. Both ovaries and tubes were taken as well.
Avatar n tn When I had my hysterectomy, my gynecologist took the works out. I'm talking the ovaries (well one, I had the other one removed last Dec.), uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes. The procedure he used was called lavh, laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy. I feel a lot better for it though. For me, I have a family history cervical and uterine cancer, which why the gynecologist took out everything. From what I understand though, there are other cancers us women can get.
Avatar f tn I had a Full LAVH done 23 years ago. For the last week Ive had severe back pain anytime i stand or walk. Pain decreases by a lot right after i empty my bladder and slowly progresses again as my bladder refills. Is this most likely a back, spine or bladder issue?
Avatar f tn I had a LAVH on December 23, 2010. I know it's only been a little over a week but today I started spotting. I don't know if this is normal or not. I was told by my doctor at my last visit for suture removal that I have a UTI but wasn't sure if that would cause the spotting or not. It's not heavy but it's noticeable. Can anyone help?
Avatar f tn My ferriten level has remained at a 4 for the past year, due to heavy bleeding and I was started on Progesterone to decrease it, the amount has slowed, but the length is 7-9days. They (pain clinic DO and OB/GYN) are reccomending a laproscopic hysterectomy. Has anyone had back pain secondary to the uterus. Upon exam, my uterus was very tender. I would classify the back pain as 6-7/10 and there 100% of my day. Nothing relieves the pain.
Avatar n tn I am contemplating wheether to have a total LAVH as a preventitive measure. My sister tested negative for the BRAC mutation and still has cancer and therefore they are saying that I can not be tested because they do not have the technology to test whatever family gene seems to be there. I was also told that even if you have a hysterectomy, you still could get ovarian cancer in the cavity.
Avatar f tn Just curious if anyone else in this forum after having hysterectomy was having nightmares every night right after the surgery? I seem to be having VERY vivid, strange, scary, and weird nightmares since having my surgery. It's not just once a night, it's more like two, three times a night. Sometimes I wake up crying and sometimes I wake up screaming and yelling. These are so bad that I am almost afraid to go to sleep at night now.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 49 years old had a Total LAVH 4 years ago, so no uterus and no cervix. Yesterday morning I woke up went to the bathroom and there was bright red blood when I wiped. I also had some cramping. I made sure that it was vaginal before I called my GYNO. He saw me a few hours later and told me he found no blood in the vagina just at the opening and asked me if I'd had sex...not for 4 days, asked me if I had burning or itching...no.
Avatar f tn I had a total Laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH). It has been 3 weeks now. I had my post op appointment in which I told my GYN/OB physician and he told me It should go away after I am completely healed, another 3 to 5 weeks will be 6 to 8 weeks. I am no longer spotting, however I still have lower back pain and cramping in my lower abdomen. Sometimes certain days I do not have cramping and feel fine however on other days I feel like I am having menstral cramps.
Avatar n tn My wife just had a laproscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy yesterday morning. I brought her home today. She is in a lot of pain, mostly from what she describes as shooting gas pains. I guess that is normal. But I'm very concerned about her inability to urinate. She was only able to urinate a very small amount in the hospital, so they let her go home after they reinserted a catheter. She has to keep it for 1 week and then go back to the doctor to have it removed.
Avatar f tn However, most of the women in my family have had cervical cancer, and while that does put them at higher risk for vaginal cancer none of them have had a single abnormal result after getting their hysterectomy. So keep in mind that a hysterectomy can be very very effective. That being said, I have never heard of a biopsy making a tumor (cancerous or non) grow worse than it would otherwise.
1670196 tn?1306841245 m not sure what which procedure the doctor is going to use to perform. I had mine via LAVH, Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy. I really hurt for a solid week. But after that, I started feeling sore but okay. I feel good now. I do have days where I'll see a little baby, like newborn, and I'll feel a knot rise up in my gut. It's like seeing the baby is a solid reminder, total slap in the face, that I'll never, ever have another baby for the rest of my life.
Avatar n tn I wish to ask a question reg drugs taken before Laproscopic vagial hysterectomy happened . I was prescribed trapic MF which I religious took for more then 6 years every period ., becuse I feared hysterectomy and did not want it . The pin went on increasing and blood clots increased as well.,and the duration of periods occuring were shortened gradually like every 30/28/25/ 20 days every 18 days etc Finally i could no more withstand the pain and the gynae immediately ordered hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn either an hysterectomy/bilateral oopherectomy or hormonal therapy (Lupron for a few months, add-back therapy and then the pill). I'm nearly 47 and fertility is not an issue, but the surgical option still strikes me as a bit drastic for a number of reasons, among them sudden menopause, possible complications from the surgery, and the long recovery time (I also have fibroids and LAVH may not be possible if my uterus is too large).
Avatar f tn I am 44 yrs old, have never had children, been physically disabled (due primarily to pain and severe fatigue) with no quality of life for almost a year, have been suffering with progressively worsening pelvic pain which has become almost unbearable, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis, and am seeing an Ob/Gyn today about his experience with treating women via surgical hysterectomy...I'd appreciate some feedback on how a hysterectomy has helped your life.
Avatar f tn I had a laparoscopy hysterectomy 5 days ago and came home day two I am extremely bloated and although not eating a lot drinking plenty but the gas doesn’t seem to be dissipating at all. Is it to early to expect it to have gone or even reduced by now? The gas pain is far worse than the op itself with shoulder tip pain being the worse I was told to expect this do not to concerned about it but just feel so blown up. Eating seems to make it worse. Any advice would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn In 1994, she was first detected for ovarian cyst and got her laparoscopy done. In 2004, she got detected of Ovarian cyst again and got her hysterectomy done. now after almost 12yrs of her operation, she is having excessive fluid coming out of her vaniga and she is becoming very weak. Can you please suggest, what may be the cause and also the way of recovery?
Avatar f tn I had a LAVH 6 weeks ago. At 2 weeks post op, I went back to work but I work in an office so my doctor thought this would be okay and I felt pretty good. However, I started having pain on my right side. I chalked it off to sitting in my chair for 8 hours a day the first week, but by the end of the 2nd week, I was in so much pain, I called my doctor. He said the pain I was describing did not sound related to my surgery.
863457 tn?1239141724 I had a LAVH 1/21/09 also ended up taking Left ovary because "it was attached to the uterus" and ended up bleeding in recovery. Exp. Lap to stop the bleeding. Transfused 8 units as well as FFP and Albumin. Post op ileus 9 day hospital stay. Ok here is the current question. 2 weeks post op I was back in the MD's office c/o RLQ/pelvic pain CT w/contrast done 2/1009 showed Complex pelvic collection Cranial/Caudal distance of 6cm and about 3.5cm in transverse diameter. it is about 3.
Avatar f tn I had a laparoscopy with right ovarian cyst, ovary and tube removal. The pathology report returned with the endometrial ovarian cancer 1.1, graded 1c. No mets noticed. Surgeon sugested the total hysterectomy with uterus, left ovary and tube, lymphnodes and abdominal fat removal. Very emotional. can somebody gime me advise what to do?
Avatar f tn I had a LAVH in April of 2008. I believe I wouldn't be as healthy today if I did not have this surgery. I do have a major problem though. The doctor decided to leave my left ovary so I wouldn't have to take HRT at such a young age. Now I am having serious pain from this region. It is not a constant pain but it is almost daily. It feels like someone stabbed me. After I go swimming I have to take a pain killer just to be able to move. Is this due to scar tissue or something more serious?
782368 tn?1244854467 Has anyone had a vaginal Hysterectomy and how did it go for you? What was the pain like?and how did your healing process go?Mines coming up soon just wondering about others thats had this type done?
Avatar f tn I had laparoscopy surgery done about 8 weeks ago. I actually went in to have a cyst removed, but the cyst had already ruptured, but they found endometriosis. I have hurt and hurt and I still hurt. I go tomorrow to my ob to discuss further options. At my 2 week post op, he mentioned about the Lupron shot which I do NOT want to take for various reasons. I hurt mainly on my right ovary, but when he did the lap. he said my ovaries looked fine.
