hysterectomy

Avatar m tn Surgeries change throughout the years. Laparoscopic surgery is great as well as the healing time is much quicker. Myself, I would go laparoscopic as it is a much faster recovery as I stated before. But I would definite talk to you gyn first. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am having laparoscopic hysterectomy with ovary removel.(Brca gene) I have a one year old baby. I was told I can't pick up anything over 10pounds. No yoga or anything either . For 4 weeeks. Wow is this really true?? Is there a procedure with better post op recovery?
Avatar n tn I just had a repair in combination with a laparoscopic partial hysterectomy. I am on day 3 post surgery and off all pain meds except the Motrin 800 which is more to reduce swelling. I would not have done repair if my hysterectomy was not medically necessary even though it was bothersome it was not life threatening. Overall not in much pain from the repair.
Avatar f tn How much time can I expect to be out of work after laparoscopic gallbladder surgery? I get a different answer from each person/doctor I talk to. I am a secretary and can keep from any type of lifting for whatever time I need to.
Avatar n tn I am scheduled for a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy in 4 days. I started my period and will be on the light days at the end by the time i have surgery. Is this a contraindication for proceeding with the surgery or can this procedure occur at any time during the menstrual cycle?
Avatar m tn If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time. God Bless you both and anyone else that's going through this!
Avatar n tn So glad to hear surgery went well and the cyst was all that was removed.
Avatar n tn Has anyone had the DiVinci machine for a hysterectomy? How long was recovery? How did it go?
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever had a hysterectomy that started out laparoscopic then went to abdominal? Do you have any advice for recovery ? Tips? Heads up?
Avatar n tn Hi everyone...I recently had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy and could use advice. 2 days at home and had to return. A cat scan confirmed an abcess. I became in patient for 4days then sent home w an abdominal drain and bag. 2weeks nearly and cut revealed should be able to remove abdominal catheter and bag this week. How serious is an abcess just above vaginal wall, what can cause it, and what kind of questions should I be asking my doc?
1809377 tn?1316520328 I have seen a lot of the posts out there, but I would like to know what I can experiece post up... recovery time... discomforts... how long will it take for my body to get back to my new normal self, how long it will take for me to have sex again (it's been over 5 months)!!! I suffer from endometriosis (confirmed with a biopsy) since 97, they suspect I have may lesions (scar tissue) due to the level of pain which is 24/7 for the past 5 months ranging from a pain level of 5-8.
Avatar f tn s eleven days post op with a hysterectomy, ovary and tube removal, and a sacrocolpopexy through the davinci robotic laparoscopic method. I returned to work yesterday as an accountant and worked for six hours. Lots of abdominal discomfort last night, some pressure, and what appeared to be some blood in my urine (pinkish color). My family thinks I'm pushing it. What do you think.
Avatar n tn It's so hard to say what may happen. They may want to do a laparoscopic procedure to get a good look at what is there. If it's nothing serious, they may not do anything at all. They may decide to remove only the cyst. They may decide to remove the ovary and the cyst. If they're concerned, maybe they will do a hysterectomy. We have all been through these surgeries. They are well worth the trouble and recovery to be healthy! Best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn Hello Ladies, I almost feel guilty for asking this question after some of the entries from today. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you!!!! My question is about recovery time. Those of you who know me know that I had a tumor removed and a total hysterectomy with "all-clear" for cancer two weeks ago tomorrow. You all have figured out I'm not a very patient person when it comes to myself, but, hey, it's been two weeks.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much. I relied heavily on the site when I had my hysterectomy. The recovery was not like the doctors told me, but was right on from what I read on this website ... I appreciate the support ....
Avatar n tn When I had my hysterectomy, my gynecologist took the works out. I'm talking the ovaries (well one, I had the other one removed last Dec.), uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes. The procedure he used was called lavh, laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy. I feel a lot better for it though. For me, I have a family history cervical and uterine cancer, which why the gynecologist took out everything. From what I understand though, there are other cancers us women can get.
Avatar f tn I’m scheduled to see the specialist in the next month, I’m curious if these are too big for laparoscopic removal and if so how long is my recovery?
Avatar f tn I am going to have a total laparoscopic hysterectomy (uterus and ovaries) in about 2 weeks. 1) How long will I spend in the hospital? 2) What are the tricky tasks around the house that I might do out of habit, but really shouldn't? I'm guessing laundry and loading/unloading dishwasher...what else? 3) How soon after surgery do women start on hormone replacement? Thank you!
Avatar f tn I think you will be fine and less recovery time with laparoscopic surgery. You may be limited to heavy lifting and driving for 4-6 weeks. Your doctor will advise you. Actually, I had a bladder suspension done when my uterus was removed vaginaly. That tecovery was very uncomfortable! I have never taken hormones. Again, discuss this with your doctor.
Avatar f tn The system does take longer to set up, but as Cherie points out, the benefit is significantly less soft tissue trauma, less bleeding, and a shorter recovery time...if I end up deciding on doing the hysterectomy, the DaVinci system is at the top of my list. There's always so much to think about!
Avatar f tn Hello! I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy the evening of May 28th and had only my uterus removed. After careful consideration and some heavy reading, I decided not to have my cervix removed for fear of prolapse sag. I am religious about my annual pap exams and felt comfortable with my decision. My GYNO and I agreed that she would only remove my remaining ovary if it was not healthy. Lucky for me it was ok.
Avatar n tn This will be a few finger width incisions in your abdomen. The recovery time is a couple of weeks. Push your doctor for answers and pain relief and educate yourself on ovarian cysts, etc. Take a look at the health pages (top right). The more you know the easier it is. Good luck and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I am 2 weeks post op....hysterectomy...I am experiencing severe left sided low back pain... Could this be related to the surgery?
922475 tn?1243962297 Newly diagnosed with uterine cancer... can a laparoscopic hysterectomy be done with this problem? Does it require being cut from side to side? Just wondering... would like to not have a huge wound site.
Avatar n tn My doctor suggests that I get a hysterectomy. I do not want to try any medications because I feel that they will only mask the problem and eventually I will have to deal with it. I have two children, and don't plan on having additional children. My doctor suggested performing the hysterectomy laparoscopically to avoid opening me up again. She will remove the endometriosis through coagulation. Do you think that these two methods are the appropriate treatment?
Avatar f tn Hi - I will have a total hysterectomy anterior/posterior; rectocele and cystocele in less than ten days. What does all this mean, how long will I be in the hospital, and how long will recovery take, approximately? I know we're all different and circumstances will dictate the exact amounts, but if you have had these three procedures will you please share your story? What was it like before, and after? Tips and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for sharing!
