Hysterectomy laparoscopic cancer

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy laparoscopic cancer

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn By the way, if the cyst is benign, you could be a candidate for a supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy, or a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy with removal of ovary(s). I'm sure that you don't want more surgery, but you even more don't want more cancer! Good luck!
Avatar n tn When I had my hysterectomy, my gynecologist took the works out. I'm talking the ovaries (well one, I had the other one removed last Dec.), uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes. The procedure he used was called lavh, laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy. I feel a lot better for it though. For me, I have a family history cervical and uterine cancer, which why the gynecologist took out everything. From what I understand though, there are other cancers us women can get.
Avatar n tn I am scheduled for a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy in 4 days. I started my period and will be on the light days at the end by the time i have surgery. Is this a contraindication for proceeding with the surgery or can this procedure occur at any time during the menstrual cycle?
Avatar f tn I have recently found out that I am getting a complete hysterectomy (removal of my cervix, uterus and ovaries). It is being done with robot assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy. I am only 35 yr old and a little bit concerned with menopause and the hormone replacement therapy. I am just wondering what other women have experienced with having a complete hysterectomy and the symptoms of menopause.
Avatar n tn Other than that surgical treatment myomectomy which is removal of the fibroid (by surgery, laparoscopic or hysteroscopic methods) may also be entertained. Last resort is hysterectomy. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn If you do not have a family history / predisposition for ovarian cancer then your risk for ovarian cancer is very low. In the U.S., a woman's LIFETIME risk of ovarian cancer is less than 2%. Since the ovaries are ESSENTIAL for lifelong health (they produce hormones at least until age 80), you do not want them removed unless it is necessary. Their removal is associated with numerous increased health risks, two of which are heart disease and osteoporosis.
Avatar f tn I just had a hysterectomy done on Feb.11 (full one) by laparoscopic surgery. I can say I do not have ANY issues so far. I did have it done vaginal & laparoscopic but have the 3 small incisions on my belly, but nothing really noticeable. I am 42 and my gyno immediately put me on the HRT patch the day after. My surgery was "day surgery", I went in at 7:30am and home by 11am.. I only took 1 week off work. I can not tell any difference as far as being on the HRT patch.
1852163 tn?1321383972 I have recently been told by OBGYN, that they found a large mass on my right ovary and will need a Hysterectomy, with the removal of ovary and falipen tubes, they also ordered a CA-125 test to be done. about 7 mths ago, I had a papsmear done, and she found a lump the size of an orange in the same place, she didnt make a big deal out of it, so I thought it was fine, then about two months later, I had an ultrasound done, again they didnt make a big deal out the cyst or whatever they found.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am having laparoscopic hysterectomy with ovary removel.(Brca gene) I have a one year old baby. I was told I can't pick up anything over 10pounds. No yoga or anything either . For 4 weeeks. Wow is this really true?? Is there a procedure with better post op recovery?
Avatar f tn I’m 45 and had partial hysterectomy 7 years ago because of endometriosis, no cancer history, healthy very active. Two months ago I started being awoke at night with lower back pain, especially with a full bladder. I finally got an appointment with my pc she ordered an abdominal ultrasound that show a 17x19cm simple cyst along with several follicular cyst on my left ovary, and on my right side a 16x21cm septate cyst with blood flow present.
701563 tn?1228359916 Thank you so much for the prompt reply. It was very helpful. You touched on all the points of my concern. I didn't like the idea of just leaving the polyp in there and always having to worry about it. I guess it is time for me to get a second opinion from another gyn to see if they think they can possibly try another hysteroscopy and if not, have a discussion about a hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn I am 2 weeks post op....hysterectomy...I am experiencing severe left sided low back pain... Could this be related to the surgery?
Avatar f tn When I was 21, I received results from my Pap smear tbat they came back abnormal and I'll eventually have to go through treatment. I was on taxotere for a few months because of my Pap smear with positive results for SIL (Squamous intraepithelial lesion) on the outer part of my cervix, lost a bit of my hair and weight due to the taxotere. All of this was an effort to be a precancerous patient and avoid any further complications. .
Avatar n tn My doctor suggests that I get a hysterectomy. I do not want to try any medications because I feel that they will only mask the problem and eventually I will have to deal with it. I have two children, and don't plan on having additional children. My doctor suggested performing the hysterectomy laparoscopically to avoid opening me up again. She will remove the endometriosis through coagulation. Do you think that these two methods are the appropriate treatment?
Avatar n tn Last July, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer; I had an 8 pound tumor removed, and was surgically debunked. Imediately after surgery I began 6 rounds of carbolplatin and taxol. I finished in November, and had my first cat scan in December. My cat scan did not show signs of cancer, so I was placed in remission. However, in February my doctor did laparoscopic surgery to confirm what the CAT scan had read in December. This day was the biggest let down of my life.
Avatar n tn Like spreading my legs part is not comfortable to do. Why do I feel any pressure an pain down there I thought laparoscopic hysterectomy meant we did not touch my vagina? And if it is normal, it has been almost 3 months now why is the discomfort still there anyway?
922475 tn?1243962297 Newly diagnosed with uterine cancer... can a laparoscopic hysterectomy be done with this problem? Does it require being cut from side to side? Just wondering... would like to not have a huge wound site.
Avatar f tn I had a ovarian cystectomy in 1986, total abdominal hysterectomy in 1994, bilateral salipingoophrectomy and ovarian cysts removed in 2005. This year I had a CAT scan for another medical issue and it was discovered that I had masses both right and left adenxal area. I went to the Cancer Institute of NJ for a consultation with a GYN/Oncologist. After numerous tests including MRI, Ultrasounds, CA-125 (negative) and I had lab work done which indicated I was premenopausal.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. Recently I was diagnosed with endocervical adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS). I had a leep procedure and that's how it was discovered. I'm now scheduled to have a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I get to keep my ovaries. I'm 31, no children and I don't want any so that's not a problem for me. But I'm still struggling. I'm scared to have the hysterectomy because the recovery process seems so long and painful and one of my biggest fears is pain.
Avatar f tn I saw my obgyn today and was told in order to relieve my menstrual cramping the next step would be a laparoscopic hysterectomy. I had an oblation 2 years ago and it wasn't helping anymore. I was wondering if i will still get my period, he said he would be leaving my ovaries in.
Avatar f tn I had hysterectomy and rectocele surgery done on Friday 2/13/15.. I'm not superstitious so the date don't matter...haha! But I did have a lot of scar tissue from having my cervix removed in 1993 from cancer and had a lot of scar tissue from endometriosis, and from several lapriscopes so my surgery took longer. The sent me home that night with a script of oxycodone/as a 4.835/325mg. This only my 3rd day I understand.
Avatar f tn Could someone let me know what questions I should ask. . The gynocologist said that he cannot remove the cyst because it might be cancer and that's why he sent me to a gynocologist/onocologist. He said that a gny/oncol is the only one that can remove it. . What does serous cyst and municous cyst mean?
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever had a hysterectomy that started out laparoscopic then went to abdominal? Do you have any advice for recovery ? Tips? Heads up?
Avatar f tn A small fibroid is not a reason to get a hysterectomy, either. Endometriosis can be treated by laparoscopic surgery, but it is to remove the endometriosis, not the uterus. Are you sure your doctor wanted you to have a hysterectomy? Here is a link that describes endometriosis. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
