Avatar f tn Hello Ladies, I am considered very high risk for Ovarian Cancer (family history), so my doctors have recommended a hysterectomy. They actually didn't have to recommend it, I was going to ask for it, if I had to! I am 42 years old with no real signs of menopause. My oncologist said I could wait a bit for the surgery if I wanted to get a bit closer to menopause to try to shorten the possible time on hormone supplements (if needed). That discussion was about 8 months ago.

1503643 tn?1311518238 This finally ended with the diagnosis of endometriosis and and emergency hysterectomy in 1994.I had 12 cysts on my left ovary and 9 on the right. Here's what happened. I was under a great deal of stress. I had to move back to Vancouver,Wa. and leave Palm, Springs because I was being sued for custody of my oldest son. I had a great life. I worked as a controller of a chain of mexican restaurants. I also sang at the local clubs with a back-up band.
Avatar n tn by definition a hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus with or without the cervix, a seperate operation is called a bilater salphigo Ooperectomy which is the removal of the fallopian tubes and ovaries, they are sometimes removed during a hysterectomy but not technically a part of a hysterectomy. Hyster means uterus in medicial terms.
955060 tn?1251260239 Hi. I'm 26, have three kids and on August 6th. I'll be having a total hysterectomy. I've been dealing with severe endometriosis since I was 16 (shortly after the birth of our first daughter). it has spread and gotten so bad that I have to take prescription pain pills for the pain. I sometimes have to skip doing things with my kids (ages 10 years, 2 years and 2 months) because it hurts so bad.

644974 tn?1312758070 Are you trying to write a journal through the Journal interface or through the Tracker interface? On My MedHelp, on the Journals panel, you should see a link that says, Write a new journal entry. If you click that, you should see a form that has text boxes for Title, Journal Entry and Tags. I am taking Cymbalta for depression and I wonder if I should not be taking some form of hormones. Avatar n tn Hi, I just did a Google search to see if it made a difference whether you had an abdominal surgery (hysterectomy) or a LAVH. It seems, according to some of the google hits that showed up, that you might have fewer surgical adhesions after a LAVH but that technically they don't really discriminate. For a very informative explanation of just what adhesions are, I suggest WebMD, which I just found after my google search (my search was, "Surgical adhesions after LAVH surgery.
922475 tn?1243962297 when you typr in your search dont just put Robotic hysterectomy, its actually called the "DaVinci Robotic Assisted Hysterectomy questions like how quick are hypothertical, never speculate as to what could happen,.
Avatar n tn I have read that women can infact have an ectopic pregnancy after hysterectomy if the ovaries and fallopian tubes are left intact. I have also read that many ectopic pregnancys result in an abdominal pregnancy and can result in a live birth. A recent article posted by the New England Journal of Medicine reported an abdominal pregnancy after hysterectomy though it was terminated at 12 weeks. Does this open the possibility of having children for women that had to have a hysterectomy?
Avatar f tn I had hysterectomy two years ago, all was taken except for my ovaries. I always had slight bouts of anxiety and feelings of depression but nothing I could not fight off until recently my daughter broke up with her boyfriend I really liked for her and between that and issues with my husband I have been crying for two days. I dont want to get out of bed and i feel like i am going nuts. Could this all just be my hormones? I cannot believe this is happening.
Avatar n tn Also one of the worst things you can do now is not walk, you simply must force yourself to take a breif walk around the house, avoid stairs, take your pain pills as prescribed, If they are not strong enough for you, ask for a different kind. I just made up a journal page with lots of good advice for post op hysterectomy, your welcome to check it out just go to my home page.
Avatar n tn Hi, I had a total hysterectomy on April 20 (3 months ago). I had my uterus, ovaries, cervix and tubes removed due to fibroids, ovarian cysts, and endometrosis (found during the operation). I also scheduled a urologist to come in after the hysterectomy and perform a bladder suspension. I'm 55 years old and prior to surgery I had not stopped bleeding on a regular basis, so the hysterectomy was my "menopause".
368844 tn?1262319347 I am having a da vinci hysterectomy and ovaries removed Dec 22 and want to know what things I should do before. What items should I have on hand, what should I shop for? What will make life easier if I prepare now? Help! Those of you who have been through this - care to share your knowledge and insights? Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn To deal with adhesions the best is to wait after surgery until it heals and start body rolling. You can see my journal about it of you can can google "Yamuna Body Rolling" There is also a place called "Clear Passage Therapy" which helps break up scar tissue and combat Endo naturally. The body rolling is cheaper and has almost the same effect. When was your last surgery? Was excision done? Where you put on anything to stop your periods from coming to reduce the pain?
