hysterectomy

955060 tn?1251260239 Hi. I'm 26, have three kids and on August 6th. I'll be having a total hysterectomy. I've been dealing with severe endometriosis since I was 16 (shortly after the birth of our first daughter). it has spread and gotten so bad that I have to take prescription pain pills for the pain. I sometimes have to skip doing things with my kids (ages 10 years, 2 years and 2 months) because it hurts so bad.
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome to MH, Im so sorry your thinking of a hysterectomy as a form of birth control, your frustrated and dealing with a toddler can be quite a job, I know you likely wont like what I am about to say but I must be honest, ok, first off your too young, I am 99 % sure no doctor would consent to a hysterectomy for you with out a serious medical diagnosis, second you dont know what the future has in store for you , you may decide later to have more children.
Avatar f tn am i too young to have a hysterectomy.? or do i have to have kids before this process is possible.? will i still have periods after the surgery has taken place.? Please respond A.S.A.
888637 tn?1241034907 ve spent the whole week feeling absolutely lost, useless, and unable to whine about it to anyone because no one knows what to do. Hope someone knows a doctor in the Syracuse, New York area or even anywhere in the East Coast who could treat me quickly and effectively and not make me feel like I'm mental for wanting to be well, pain-free, and not living on BC pills and pain pills. And daring to hope she can have a baby someday!
Avatar n tn Fibroids on the outside of uterus and cyst on right ovary. It is feasible for me to have a hysterectomy. Doc wants to put in an IUD but with all of my blood clotting problems I do not think this is a good idea.
Avatar n tn I had the hysterectomy because I had a prolapsed uterus. I was 23 years old when I had it. I am now 28 years old and my symptoms are the same, if not worse. I have in the past 3 days started to feel even worse in that I am severely emotional. My husband and I are very concerned because now over the past few days we have tried to have sex and though my whole heart and mind are in it I spend most of my time feeling like a robot trying to get my body to catch up with the rest of me.
Avatar f tn If she was a young woman when she had the hysterectomy, and if they also removed the ovaries, it seems as though they might have asked her if she wanted HRT. The fact that they did not, suggests she didn't have her ovaries removed. Ask her doctor to find this out, and go from there. Also talk to her ob/gyn just about the headaches. Those could be hormone-related.
Avatar f tn I am schedule to have a hysterectomy in a couple weeks, and my concern is will my stomach go back to normal? Will I gain weight? Should I diet during recovery. Can't afford to buy new clothing right now... Will my sex life remain exciting?
Avatar n tn t seen it in teens and the gynacologists have done it but not in teens either and usually do a hysterectomy because they are older women. So my question is: Has anyone else known someone as young as me with this same problem and what was their treatment.
Avatar f tn Hi, You are too young for a hysterectomy. You have not mentioned the reason for doing so. It should not be done unless absolutely necessary. Also as far as possible, the ovaries need to be preserved to prevent the symptoms of premature menopause. Discuss with your Doctor. Take care and good luck.
478429 tn?1265244387 t continue to come back would be to have a hysterectomy, but then she followed by telling me that I am too young for that. Now only a couple months later I have to go back in for another diagnostic hystosonogram because when I went in for a TVUS a couple weeks ago they found 2 more cysts on my left ovary, more possible endo on my right ovary, my uterine lining was much thicker than it should be and there is a lump or something on my uterine wall.
Avatar n tn I just turned 30 in September and my Doctor has just NOW decided that a hysterectomy is the best route for me despite my medical history being as rough as it has been. I have been on birth control since I was 15 to try to regulate periods that were late, heavy, lasted over 12 days or didn't come at all for three or four months. I was on best rest with both of my children even though I've been pregnant...I miscarried two of them. I'm epileptic.
Avatar n tn For the last 4 years since returning to Illinois, I have been an extreme gardener and am no stranger to sweating all over! Prior to that, I was in project management in construction and engineering in Arizona. While in AZ, due to fibroids, I had a partial hysterectomy (uterus & cervix). 9 years before that I had an ectopic pregnancy rupture and my left fallopian tube was removed. 2 years ago here in IL, my right ovary was removed while having a recto seal.
477837 tn?1457461992 Why are you having the hyster? Are you having one ovary removed or have you already lost one? Thirty one is terribly young. In my opinion, really, I would only have my uterus removed at that young age if I had cancer. Has your doctor really taken a lot of time with you and explained it all to you? I would suggest that you and your fiance seek out some counselling .... all these issues are hard on you and they are hard on him too.
Avatar f tn I just turned 23 & due in may with my 3rd & my Dr has already agreed to tie my tubes
Avatar f tn It separates the bladder and bowel and keeps them anchored in their proper places. Hysterectomy displaces these organs causing dysfunction especially down the road. Hysterectomy also destroys skeletal integrity since the uterus' ligaments are the support structures for the pelvis. Those ligaments keep the hip bones, spine and rib cage where they belong. Everything shifts after hysterectomy. This leads to back and hip problems and reduced mobility over time.
Avatar f tn Well, probably not. Even in a partial hysterectomy they usually remove part of your uterus right? So I wouldn't think so. Check with your Dr. to see for sure, but I doubt it. Sorry.
Avatar f tn chief complaint......................but I am so thankful not to have cancer and have some of the things these young dear girls have in this board. It is hear breaking. Life is precious and all to short. SO we have to stay healthy for ourselves and especially for our llved ones. Good Luck. Keep me posted on how you are.
Avatar m tn Ok so in 2012 I had a hysterectomy but they left my ovaries and tubes in tact. I am nervous because Friday I go in it has my tubes and ovaries removed as well as thinning of scar tissue from my hysterectomy. What do I need to expect as well as recovery since I have 3 kids under the age of 6. Also any information on different hormone replacement therapies would be much appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am 54 years young and in November of 2010 had a multiple procedure surgery.. I had fibroids since my twenties and one had grown large enough that I was told I had the uterus of a 16+ week pregnant woman which I wasn't. I also had an issue with the vaginal and rectal walls deteriorating from repair work that had been performed after the delivery of my first child resulted in 4thdegree lacerations. Lastly, I had developed incontinence issues that progressively increased in severity.
Avatar n tn No one can really answer that as its a hypothetical question.
Avatar f tn I've had endo since I was a young adult, followed by Adenomyosis adding into the mix when I was in my 30's and have been told hysterectomy is my only option to get rid of all my pain, excessive bleeding etc I had an endometrial ablation in 2005 to try and help, for a few months it worked then everything just grew back I still can't bring myself in my mid 40's to have one done even though the dr says I should.
Avatar f tn I have been on birth control pills for the last 10 years with hope of controlling the growth of my endo. I am still in pain, during intercourse, as well as everyday cramping, and lower back pain. I talked to doctor and she suggested an abdominal hysterectomy. Should I do this? Will it really help?? I have tried lupron, and had two laprascopies with removal of adhesions as well as countless chocolate cysts.
589148 tn?1218752415 I am wondering when and if I should press my doctor for hysterectomy? I had always had very painful periods from the time I started getting my period at age 12. When I was 20 I had my daughter and at 21 I had my son. Soon after that I my periods started getting even worse than before. After going to see my ob/gyn for a few months I had a laperoscopy, hysteroscopy, and D/C. I found out then that I had Endometriosis. I tried the Lupron shots to no avail I was still in alot of pain.
1086111 tn?1256514891 My doctor has me coming back November 19 and he wants to a hysterectomy Laparscopic hysterectomy but i don't know if he is going to do a complete hysterectomy or not that is why i go back to him on the November the 19 and he will let me know if he is going to do a full hysterectomy or a partial hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn I had a unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and Hysterectomy back in 2007 when I was 27 years old. 2 forms of birth control could not stop an 8 month long period. (Non-stop). I was prepared for the mood swings, hot flashes, and all the other weird stuff that came with it. But not for this long. And now depression, no sex drive, major hot flashes, and bad insomnia. Nobody can answer me on how much longer. I think I ran my only ova into the ground. What should I do?
Avatar m tn It can also be controlled with the help of hormones and GnRH agonists which help in suppression of the disease. Ovarian cysts are also likely to recur. However you are too young to have a hysterectomy and should not even think of it. You may seek a second opinion from a gynaecologist. Take care and good luck.
