Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy in uk

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn Just wanted to warn you. In case you're looking down the UK surrogacy routes. The woman who gives birth is always treated as the mother in UK law. She has the right to keep the child. Even if they’re not genetically related!! However, parenthood can be transferred by parental order or adoption. Surrogacy contracts aren’t enforced by UK law. Even if you’ve a signed deal with your surrogate and have paid for her expenses!! It’s illegal to pay a surrogate in the UK.
Avatar n tn Not sure what country you are in but in the UK hysterectomies usually only remove the womb in women that have not yet reached menopause. Obviously it depends upon the reason but a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (removal of both ovaries) is rarely carried out. You need to ask your Dr exactly what was removed during your hysterectomy. If both ovaries were removed then the Dr has screwed up or thats not an ovary showing on the scan.
Avatar f tn In the UK, do they check for dilation? Only really heard it done in USA, and I'm 37 haven't been checked so far!

Avatar f tn I under went proper staging (with a second opinion on the pathology ) and a complete hysterectomy in June last year aged 32 and yet an MRI and CT scan have showed growths in my bowel. I also have a painful swollen area low down on my left side which they are not sure what it is yet- reports from scan just say "thickened tissue". The scans were prompted by the pain and my ca 125 was rising gently (didn't know previously if this was a marker for me or not).
Avatar f tn I'm in the UK too, and am 41. I had surgery to remove a 10cm complex cyst along with my right ovary 2 weeks ago. It was all done by laparoscopy. My consultant only said that a hysterectomy could become necessary if they had trouble controlling the bleeding during surgery or of course if once in there having a look around they didn't like what they saw and thought it would be necessary.
Avatar f tn Do any of you know of any type drug that she could take? This is a new one for me. I did not know that former alcoholics could not take chemo. What about Avastin or some of the other drugs used outside of chemo drugs? She keeps posting and really needs some help from us. Bunni, You are very fortunate that your cancer is a Stage I. Sometimes doctor's don't recommend chemo for Stage I patients. I see you are located in the UK.
551343 tn?1506830518 I had a hysterectomy last year because of several problems that included endometriosis. My right ovary was left because it still looked ok. I was 44 so I am not sure that would be considered all that early.
178345 tn?1242536246 As you all know I had a full hysterectomy in May 07..well today I was shopping with my younger daughter and I started feeling a tight crampy feeling in my lower pelvis area. this was 6 hours ago and I am still feeling it,,it feels like a muscle spasm or something. It hurts more when I walk than when I sit. I am so uncomfortable. what could this be? Should I be worried? Please let me know.
1203024 tn?1265536718 I had a total hysterectomy in 97 age 25 for endometriosis. The previous year i had to have surgery for severe right sided pain which was discovered to be caused by ovarian cysts on my right ovary. Hysterectomy removed my ovaries, cervix, etc.. 4 years ago i develoved lower right sided abdominal pain which came and went and varied in severity. I had urine tests which ruled out kidney stones, an abdominal x-ray and blood tests which revealed nothing.

1151690 tn?1263504682 I am awaiting an appointment which the Dr said will be within the next 2 weeks. The health service in the UK is very poor but I remain hopeful that I will be seen quickly. I WILL post my results on this site. Please can you also put your results on this site to keep all us fellow sufferers informed. Thank you.

Avatar f tn Jon There are too many of us Jon's on here.....FYI - My wife was also diagnosed as stage 3a and with a poorly differentiated tumour. Do you know what type of tumour your Mum has (Serous, Mucinous etc.)? This is an important thing to know when it comes to response to treatment. One thing I would be concerned about in your description is that you said that the stage had been given as 3a yet they also said that the Lymph nodes had been affected.
