Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy in older women

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn Hi There, The fact of the matter is that eating disorders are very common in older women and I think that the reason that it is not a well known fact is simply because as older women this is something that we hide pretty well. I am 38 "Soon to be 39" and I also have an eating disorder. I flip flop between bulimia and just not eating at all. I am 5'0" and I weigh about 113. I have a medium frame and I work out like a demon. I both love and hate food.

Avatar m tn I have heard that hpv usually has cleared out in older women. Is this true ? How about repeated infections ? Also that mostly HPV is found in young adults in their 20s, is there any stats that i can look up ?
Avatar n tn t seen it in teens and the gynacologists have done it but not in teens either and usually do a hysterectomy because they are older women. So my question is: Has anyone else known someone as young as me with this same problem and what was their treatment.
1149921 tn?1297559913 To my understanding some of my friends on here have already informed me that this does not necessarily lead to hysterectomy. I have hear that some women experience what is refered to as an early change or menopause following this type of operation (hysterectomy). I know that many women experience menopause in different ways. I just need to know if it possible for a women to experience some minor symptoms in her mid to late 30's and what these symptoms consist of.
Avatar n tn reason why we see many older ( as well as other health conditions) ladies with bent shouders, reason why women "shrink" we dont shrink our spines lack density and vertebrae become compressed. so besides helping your primary symptoms it is really something to think of for other health reasons.
Avatar n tn Do the majority of older gynecologists (age 57) stay up to date on the latest findings or techniques/surgeries in their field or will they be more likely to turn to a hysterectomy as they did in the past more than was necessary(from what I have read)? I also tend to think that being a woman herself, a female gynecologist would be less likely to perform a hysterectomy if possible than a male gynecologist , though I could be completely wrong about that.
Avatar f tn I had a pap already they say its find and I'm getting a biosy in a few week...but I have had thus problem before do you think Vegas it keep show back up I will get cancer ????.that what I want to know ...Igotmy pperiod when I was 9 yrs old ....so I have problem all my life with...
Avatar f tn The doctors in your area must be more ethical than those in my area because hysterectomy as well as ovary removal (castration) occurs at alarmingly high rates where I live. Also, the uterine ligaments are the structural supports for the pelvis so severing them to remove the uterus explains why hysterectomized women have short, thick midsections, big belllies, and tend to develop chronic back and hip pain down the road.
Avatar f tn My lower abdomen is now a bulbous blob of fat even though I am underweight and have not had the weight gain of which so many women complain post-hysterectomy. The curve in my lower back is gone (since my rib cage fell) so my butt looks flat. Oh and one other thing - There is a fairly high chance that your ovaries will fail since the uterus, ovaries, and tubes work as a unit / system.
Avatar n tn ) He might just have a mental block that hysterectomy is for older ladies and sees you in some way as less desirable because of that. This one is easy to fix with sexy underwear and a racy attitude. But you need to know why your hysterectomy made such a difference to him. Very rarely, a woman gets a stretched-out vagina after many childbirths and if that is the story, perhaps your ob-gyn can suggest a surgical procedure to tighten the vagina.
401095 tn?1351391770 boosts levels of testosterone in men and estrogen and testosterone in women...I do know that if you have a reproductive gland tumor like prostate cance u r not supposed to take it...anyway i have been taking 10 mg for years but have never been diligent with it everyday...then my friend went to the doctor and she is worn out and he told her to take it....she is also a recovering addict...I was always scared it would make me grow hair on my chest so i took it in small doses...
Avatar f tn A good friend of mine was scheduled to have a hysterectomy in April, and she took a pregnancy test today which read 'positive'. She's 40 a yr old single mother of 2, and wasn't trying to get pregnant... in fact she'd had so many problems getting pregnant with ther boys and had so many problems with her period in recent years that she assumed she couldn't get pregnant (bad assumption!).
Avatar m tn All the related posts where from younger woman. Are there any older women that have gone through the same experience with a good outcome?
Avatar f tn Will a hysterectomy correct a prolapse bladder? My mother is in her 70's and constantly has to go to the restroom to urinate she also feels the bladder is fallen and complains about the discomfort she feels in it hanging.
19592380 tn?1480606612 d like to know if any of you have had a hysterectomy in your twenties and whether or not there are still other women out there who support the decision to have a hysterectomy at this age?
Avatar n tn This is not to say that imbalances cannot occur in younger women and so in doing your research on this topic, you might want to Google some of the key words (hormones, Cervical Dysplasia, Ovarian issues, etc) and see what you come up with.
Avatar f tn Be careful of having a hysterectomy without a suspension of the vaginal cuff as many women just get more prolapses of the vaginal wall and even the vaginal cuff later on. Can you see a womens physiotherapist for help with your pessary choice? Have a look at the wide choice of pessaries available and get measured by a Urogyne then get the right pessary for you. It is crazy to be told you cant exert yourself or bend over with a pessary in. I am shocked at this ridicuous suggestion.
Avatar f tn I had a rectocele and cystecle (sp?) I had an operation and also had a bladder sling put in at the same time along with a partical hysterectomy. Once I got home and recovered the pain came back so I went to another new doctor who did another operation and fixed the pain. Once in a while I would experience (maybe 1 time every other mo.) some pressure and burning pain. Mostly after working out. Now it is all back again. Hemoroids, pressure and burning pain when I do squarts or lundges.
1193817 tn?1264935040 Hi MiaMeme. there is a discussion on borderline tumors on this site. Just search under "borderline." I had an atypical proliferating serous tumor, 10cm, removed last year. I had a full hysterectomy, BSO, etc., etc., but I'm 55 (and lucky -- these kinds of tumors generally happen to younger women -- in older women it's usually full blown cancer). I was staged 1C. Staging is NOT subjective, but can only be done if you have tissue samples taken from in and around the tumor.
20632981 tn?1503687567 Hello! I'm wondering the same thing. Where are all the older women? What is going on with you, Countrymorninggirl?
