hysterectomy

1367840 tn?1278194075 I had a total hysterectomy 20 years ago in my early 30's. I have been on Premarin since....625mg. At 52, do I need to continue the pills? I figure I'm at or close to being menopausal. Thanks!
Avatar f tn hi there, I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I would strongly suggest to go for a 2nd and even 3rd opionion. I had a total radical hysterectomy in my early 20's (I'm now in my 50's) and HRT introduced new problems. I would try to keep the one ovary.
1149921 tn?1297559913 I am due to receive an ultra sound for a fybroid condition in January. To my understanding some of my friends on here have already informed me that this does not necessarily lead to hysterectomy. I have hear that some women experience what is refered to as an early change or menopause following this type of operation (hysterectomy). I know that many women experience menopause in different ways.
345079 tn?1299202476 Hi there I currently have an ear infection and am on antibiotics(day 7 of a 10 day course) no fever with it just pain. But for the past two nights I have woken up completely drenched in sweat, I have had to change my clothes. Also I went from 131 to 134.8 in one night and the weight has not dropped. Which is very unusual for me. Lastly my pulse normally ranges in the 50's and was rarely in the 60's before. For the past three nights it has been 65, 65 and 65 again. Also not normal for me.
Avatar f tn It took me 13 years to find the first one and then 7 after my hysterectomy for endo to find a dr. who would hear me and go in and take a look..I was correct that my endo was still aggressively destroying my pelvis....so go with your gut if something feels wrong it most likely is! I saw 100's of Dr.'s through the years and have had to travel out of state at times! Don't be afraid to do that...definitely get to a different area of Dr.
Avatar f tn I had cervical dysplasia when I was in my 20's - I am now in my 40's. What they did was a cone biopsy and cryosurgery to freeze all of it. Ever since then it has never come back, but recently I had a hysterectomy - nothing to do with the dysplasia though. I just now realized you are 47 too - IMHO, it should be your personal choice, but do get a second opinion.
Avatar f tn Hi. I had what was called a Lapraoscopy for severe Endometrioisis when I was in my late 20's. Gyno swore that I would end up having to have a hysterectomy though and acutually tried to encourage me to have one. I declined the Hysterectomy and took the Lapraoscopy instead. She said I would have to have a Lapraoscopy almost every year or two if I didn't have the Hysterectomy. I said no to the Hysterectomy. Well, this is now approx. 17 yrs.
1615999 tn?1307461942 Being on the pill I should not be getting any at all. So when I go in for that u/s we will also be deciding whether or not to do a hysterectomy. If we do that then she would remove my uterus and one ovary (whichever is causing me more problems) along with any possible Endo build ups that she might find. She is leaving one so that I will not have to go through menopause at such a young age. That will still give me hormone production but not enough to cause a major problem with the Endo.
Avatar f tn my hysterectomy was in 2007. I have only had these recent symptoms for the last 2-3 years. I don't know where I am in menopause but one of the follicle tests showed that my levels were in the 60's when they were only supposed to be around 15. I can't take meds because it effects my burning mouth syndrome. My Hot flashes are insane.
Avatar n tn when a woman has not had a menstrual period for 12 months. However, since you had a hysterectomy 20 years ago, this is not an option. Instead, a blood test known as a follicle stimulating hormone (or FSH) test may be used in conjunction with your symptoms to better assess whether you are transitioning into menopause. That said, there might be other reasons for hot flashes and night sweats and it's best to speak with your personal physician.
Avatar f tn The only carbs I have Are multigrain or wheat and I have ZERO sugars in my diet. Any suggestions on how to improve my results?? I can feel my muscles getting stronger but it's underneath a layer of fat- especially my abs-I want to see the lines!
Avatar f tn I have been having issues with my periods. I bleed for sometimes months and most times my periods are heavy with huge blood clots. I recently seen a Dr. obviously concerned about this especially because my month long bleeding was draining me literally. I felt tired, sluggish and dizzy at times and I was noticing that I was becoming sick often, catching colds quite a bit. After seeing the Dr.
Avatar f tn i had a total hysterectomy 9 yrs ago.... a recent gallbladder attack... sent me to the hosptal.. findings from blood tests said i had a positive preg test... they think i may still have an ovary.. now bieng on estrogen therapy for 9 yrs.. what are the possible risks involed with that? and why does the preg test say positive???
Avatar n tn s but is up against a very lucrative industry. Hysterectomy is emphasized in Graduate Medical Education. Each resident used to be required to do at LEAST 70 hysterectomies. That was recently increased to 85... very concerning. Yet they don't have to do ANY myomectomies even though fibroids are a common cause of hysterectomies.
Avatar f tn I sweat and am depressed and the weight gain has taken me from my normal weight and size of 4-6 to a number that I have never seen on the scale in my life. It is freightening to go to the doctor every month and gain two or three pounds. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with me. I know my stomach was never this bloated and swollen. I am not consitpated either. Any thoughts for me????
Avatar f tn Hi. I am 40 years old and a Mom of 2 awesome teens. My husband had a hysterectomy when our youngest (14 1/2) was 2 (1998). From the time I started my period through my 20's, my periods were 28 days apart, without fail unless I was pregnant. In my 30's, my cycles were 30 days apart - without fail. I have never missed a period unless pregnant. I'm like clock work. Last month, my period showed up at day 33, lasted 5 days and for the next 10 days or so, I had spotting every day.
Avatar f tn I am 39, suffered with endo, infertility since age 20, I am at the end of my rope at this point. I have been on birth control pills for the last 10 years with hope of controlling the growth of my endo. I am still in pain, during intercourse, as well as everyday cramping, and lower back pain. I talked to doctor and she suggested an abdominal hysterectomy. Should I do this? Will it really help??
Avatar n tn I assume you had blood work done to determine your estrogen level? What is it? Do you possibly have endometriosis (endo)? Endo implants produce estrogen. Fat cells produce estrogen too so if you're overweight that could explain it.

Avatar f tn So before I knew it I was on 19 different medications and feeling much worse struggling to just get through my days as well as try to figure out what was wrong with me even though I was beginning to feel perhaps it was all in my head and really was doubting my sanity. But my TMJ Dr. told me to try to find ways to cope better with my stress and suggested books for me to read, yoga and self healing as well as pt for my jaw.
Avatar f tn I'm a 44-year-old healthy female. I've had seven children, ages 2 to 24, after my last one I asked for a partial hysterectomy, my doctor tied my tubes. I'm a 44-year-old healthy female.
