About 10 years ago I went to rare diseas clinic in Chicago and they put me on Cholorpromide and Chlorathizide and I have had no problems until the last 3 months. I am having a terrible time with low blood sugar, I knew this could be a side effect, but why am I just now having problems. I there anything I can do to prevent this. Thank you for any help.

Avatar f tn I did a lot of research on where to go in Chicago and as luck would have it, the Univ. of Chicago is where the Vertex trials have been. I had heard about Dr. Jensen from a nurse I know who has hepatitis C. I had also seen him a couple times in Chicago Magazines yearly "Top Docs" issues. (He was actually on the cover of their last "Top Docs"issue.) Dr. Jensen has a great CV and I knew the first time I saw him with my page of questions that I was in the right place.
Avatar n tn Here in the Chicago area, only the University of Illinois @Chicago has such offerings, but they are not highly rated. Neither Northwestern, Rush, or U of Chicago appear to have well recognized ophthalmology specialty services, according to my searches. But I'm going by published ratings for the ophthalmology specialty. Does Mayo have a referral service? Thanks in advance.

Avatar f tn Interesting thing about this earthquake was that its epicenter was in Elgin. Usually, an earthquake that Chicago feels will be from the New Madrid fault or the Wabash fault. Historically -- late pre-cambrian (900 million years ago) the continent started to split apart in what is today far southern Illinois. The split never completed, but giant rift valleys formed. Later they eroded away or filled with the passing ages.

785188 tn?1279928405 Yes, a gynecological oncologist did the surgery at Rush Hosp in Chicago. He was highly recommended by many. He didnt do the full hysterectomy because he said the cancer attached itself to the colon and rectum so he wanted to do what he could which wasnt much, do chemo and then go back and get the rest. My mom is at Christ hosp in Oak lawn know under the care of her internal med doc who is wonderful! She was severly dehydrated and is receiving her 3rd back of potasium.

Avatar f tn An 18-year-old from Chicago was arrested during an undercover operation in which agents pretending to be extremists provided him with a phony car bomb that he intended to detonate outside a downtown bar, the U.S. District Attorney's office in Chicago said Saturday. Adel Daoud of Chicago's Hillside suburb was arrested Friday night. The U.S. Attorney's Office said in a news release Saturday the device was inert and the public was never at risk.

Avatar m tn Are you working with a pituitary center? What type of tumor? Is all of your tumor operable and do you know if it grew around the optic nerve and/or carotid(s) or down into the cavernous sinus? First and foremost, make sure that the neuro-endo has properly determined the type of tumor and that any medical treatments that can be used can be tried first - so it is essential to know the type of tumor (so just saying pituitary tumor is misleading - there are many types).
Avatar f tn In general, a CT would not show a pituitary lesion unless it is really large - and a 4-6mm lesion is not a large one (in size, not effect). MRIs are much better at pituitary lesions. They are better at soft tissue. So, I would find a skilled doctor who should be sending you for lab testing - as that is THE most important item - as that can tell you what the nature of the lesion can be - as the treatment is determined on the type of lesion.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm originally from IL and we looked into it for my son's surgery. You may want to try University of IL-Chicago, in Chicago, or possibly Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge IL. Not sure where you're from but hope it helps!
