Hysterectomy healing scar

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy healing scar

I have never been able to lay on my stomach because the pressure hurts too much. The <span style = 'background-color: #dae<span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>8</span>f4'>scar</span> and the area around the <span style = 'background-color: #dae<span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>8</span>f4'>scar</span> for about an inch or so on each side 8f4'>is hard. Th8f4'>is feeling also extends inward. It feels like I'm carrying a weight in my abdomen. I know many women who have had like surgeries and their 8f4'>scars are soft and pliable. Mine 8f4'>is heavy and hard and seems to weigh my abdomen downward. What 8f4'>is my trouble? Adhesions? Abnormal growth?
Hysterectomy wounds can sometimes separate superficially, like yours did. If th8f4'>is happens in my patients, I generally go to once daily wet to dry dressing changes, but some surgeons prefer twice daily changes. The wound slowly heals from the bottom up. Depending on your skin type, the healed 8f4'>scar may be slightly larger (wider) than if your inc8f4'>ision healed without the dressing changes. Dr.
Also I still get pain on the inc8f4'>ision once in awhile. My gyno told me it could be my <span style = 'background-color: #dae<span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>8</span>f4'>scar</span> t8f4'>issue not healing right inside. And also today and on sunday I bled very little but i'm cramping alot. What does th8f4'>is mean? I stop taking my estrogen pills since the beginning cause the side effects said higher r8f4'>isk of heart attack. My dads family side all h8f4'>is siblings died of heart attacks under the age of 50. So I didnt want to take any chances. Can you plz tell me what could be my problem? Thanks!

I just had hysterectomy 7 weeks ago.
I saw the consultant yesterday and he was happy with my progress. <span style = 'background-color: #dae<span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>8</span>f4'>scar</span> healing really nicely and tummy even though sometimes sore 8f4'>is ok. He says I have been through two traumas, firstly the operation and then the removal of the overies, and I had not forget that. I still have to take things easy for another two or three weeks, but otherw8f4'>ise all ok. I have now been given HRT in patch form and will see how that goes.
I had a horizontal inc8f4'>ision, bikini to belly button only 7 wks ago, th8f4'>is was to remove large oc tumour I am being reopened on the same <span style = 'background-color: #dae<span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>8</span>f4'>scar</span> for my full hysterectomy, 8f4'>is th8f4'>is going to be heaps worse?????
Has anyone experienced th8f4'>is? I had a total adominal hysterectomy 8 weeks ago. Recovery went generally well, but about 4th week I began to have sharp needle type pain, tingling, sensitivity to touch on my stomach above the inc8f4'>ision. Also, pressure and pain on the lower right side of my stomach. I saw my dr for post op. She pretty much said she had no clue what it was. I've gone back to work now and these symtoms are painful. Any clues?
I am seeing my GYN tomorrow to make an apt to have a partial hysterectomy. I have seen a lot of the posts out there, but I would like to know what I can experiece post up... recovery time... d8f4'>iscomforts... how long will it take for my body to get back to my new normal self, how long it will take for me to have sex again (it's been over 5 months)!!!
I had the option of them just taking my ovaries and tubes or doing a total hysterectomy. One of the Dr's. recommended the total hysterectomy as I have several fibroids. The main Dr. (th8f4'>is 8f4'>is a teaching hospital - I've never had so many people in the room!) said it will extend the surgery by an hour and she didn't really offer an opinion other than to say if it 8f4'>is cancer they will take everything and do staging etc.
I had a total abdominal hysterectomy over seven months ago. My inc8f4'>ision <span style = 'background-color: #dae<span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>8</span>f4'>scar</span> has not healed. It develops "puss pockets" which drain and bleed frequently. Antiobiotics have already been tried.
I have had 3 csections and one hysteretomy with one ovary removal and bladder lift / so a total of 4 abdominal transverse inc8f4'>isions. Hysterectomy was one year ago. Now I have a very large and painful ovarian mass 14cm x 13cm. I am very worried about the it all, my CA 125 was only 5, so hopeful its not cancerous, the other worry 8f4'>is the abdominal inc8f4'>ision, th8f4'>is time it will be a large vertical inc8f4'>ision. How does that heal? I have always had a belly which grew more after three kids.
Im going to send you a private message
You could consider medical therapy such Mirena IUD, Lystedia etc... However hysterectomy 8f4'>is definitive. I am not certain how hysterectomy may or may not effect you gastric bypass being that I am not able to review your operative report. Perhaps th8f4'>is question 8f4'>is better addressed with your prior surgeon.
I had a hysterectomy 3 1/2 weeks ago, removing uterus and right ovary due to very large ovarian cyst. My gyn did not remove my left ovary indicating it was healthy, due to my age (37) and not wanting to put me into menopause. All has been fine until approximately 1 week ago. I began having severe pains on my right side. Questioning my gyn, he felt that due to the work that was performed on my right side, the ovary being remove, it was just normal healing........
Hi , Thought I,d just say I experience similar symptoms when I had my hysterectomy . Like you I had a bikini cut and my ovaries were left intact. I,m not sure if its related to <span style = 'background-color: #dae<span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>8</span>f4'>scar</span> t8f4'>issue and healing which obviously takes a while. Don,t do too much and take it easy .
No help. I just thougt mabe I was still healing from the hyster so kept waiting for it to improve on its on. 9 wks post op the pain was worse. The longer I'm on my feet the worse the pain 8f4'>is . Went back to the gyno who checked my urine and sure enough there was no infection. He suspected IC but gave me URELLE to try. It has seemed to help but still when I'm on my feet constantly (I own a Restarunt!) the pain 8f4'>is back.
I'm starting to think that from all the years of agony it might be best to get a full hysterectomy which might happen anyway depending on what they find when they go in. Just not sure what to think about any of it? My last surgery the doctor knicked a large vein and didnt seal it properly, long story short I had two surgeries and lost all my blood volume, now I cringe at the thought of going back in..
May will be 2 years since I had my hysterectomy with ovary removal. They took everything. I had stage 4 endo. I did 6 months of lupron. Now I'm having lower right cramping, almost stabbing pain at times. I tend to have a little spotting every now and then. I have been to the dr and she told me it was bc they took my ovaries, and thats 8f4'>why i have the cramping. Now I'm not a dr. at all. But does that make any sense what so ever?
I've had 3 c-sections; a partial hysterectomy (just my uterus removed); and now a total hysterectomy (my ovaries removed) due to cysts. When I had my ovaries removed, they told me that my intestines were glued together with my ovaries and my 8f4'>scar t8f4'>issue. They also told me that th8f4'>is may also occur again. I was pain free for a few months after the surgery. But, now the pain has returned and I don't know what to do. I live in Japan on a military base. I feel like I am falling apart.
I have had two C-Sections, tubal, and now the hysterectomy and they have cut along the same <span style = 'background-color: #dae<span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>8</span>f4'>scar</span> each time so my guess 8f4'>is they didnt get it all because of all the <span style = 'background-color: #dae<span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>8</span>f4'>scar</span> t8f4'>issue. Right now I have a cold and when I cough I can actually feel exactly where it 8f4'>is. I am calling my Dr back again tomorrow to get another referral. I am retired military so I have been bounced around from Dr to Dr over the past year.
Ladies I am so glad I am not the only person with th8f4'>is weird pain. I was 4 months preg. (22 yoa) and the Dr removed cysts from my left ovary; I delivered normal birth and had no problems. I formed bigger cysts and in 2005 had a hyster at 35 yoa (one of the best things I did) removing left ovary and uterus. I kept my cervix and right ovary. When seeing my gyne he told me (vaginal ultrasound) I have 8f4'>scar t8f4'>issue on my right ovary.
but if it's just tension or tightness it's most likely normal healing. The bloating 8f4'>is most likely just your body adjusting and fluids retained in the healing t8f4'>issues. be patient your are only at 2 months (8 weeks) that 8f4'>is VERY early in the healing phase...they did ALOT of work in there! if it feels ok and you are ok'd to do exerc8f4'>ise at th8f4'>is point...I would suggest gently stretching the area to keep the 8f4'>scar t8f4'>issue pliable (yoga 8f4'>is how I do th8f4'>is and after 8 abdominal surgeries...
If it was to keep from opening me up by inc8f4'>ision i think I could handle a <span style = 'background-color: #dae<span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>8</span>f4'>scar</span> better than having a period every month. That was the whole reason of having the hysterectomy. I could have just had the the oversized ovary removed if I would had known what I know now. 8f4'>why guess at th8f4'>is kind of stuff, 8f4'>why tell me from the office that it would eventually stop if theres a chance th8f4'>is will go on for ever. Yes I also say MALPRACTICE!!!
I've gone for the lipod8f4'>issolve on my abdomen since my pregnancy, hysterectomy surgery, and <span style = 'background-color: #dae<span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>8</span>f4'>scar</span> left me with stubborn fat that diet and exerc8f4'>ise won't cure. Hopefully, it will kill the fat cells and not just remove the triglycerides from them.
Hello, I was wondering if any of you all have been put on hormones after a total hysterectomy. My doctor says there are too many r8f4'>isks and I don't need them...I am 38. I don't know what to expect here 2 weeks after surgery, I keep waiting for a hotflash or something weird to happen. :) What can happen if I don't take them? I've had nightmares of growing hair on my face or my voice getting manly. Are my fears real? Can anyone share their experience or knowledge about hormones?
I had a laparoscopic supracerival hysterectomy. The time healing was great, but there was a complication. If you are NOT having your cervix removed, you may still have periods. My cervix 8f4'>is still intact and some of the uterus was left behind resulting in all that area not properly sealed up. So, although the odds are against it, I highly recommend you confirm your doctor has Laparascopic experience, a lot of it at that, and all your questions are answered in terms you can understand.
