hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I had my last period from march 14th to the 20th and well gave my bf his birthday present on the 21. On the 25 I had some dark brownish fluid coming out and on april first I had a very vivid red spotting. Yesterday I had a bit of red spotting too. Is it posible I am pregnant? I'm on birthcontrol because I have Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding, anemia and Uterine myoma. I'm 24 and I'm really scared 'cause tomorrow I'll have an ultrasound to check on my illness and nobody knows.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your post :o)

2074741 tn?1331880740 A full hysterectomy includes ovaries. If they are removed you will likely have to have hormonal treatment and may go into early menopause. I do think it's prudent to get your uterus removed, especially if you have no desire to try for children later on and the risk of having them grow back is high. This is only a partial hysterectomy though. As far as if you should get a full one- I have heard there is some connection between ovarian cancer and uterine cancer.
Avatar n tn thank you for helping me to google some information about the myoma or cyst hope that i can find the answer that can help me?thank you very much.
1676653 tn?1391039945 I was recently diagnosed with uterine fibroids. I dont know where they are located. I have an appointment next Wednesday to go over my u/s results. My doctor told me not to be overly concerned about it. That put me at ease. ... Until I went to google and started doing research about it. Once I saw the word hysterectomy I started freaking out.
Avatar n tn I have 2 cysts on an ovary and 2 fibroids. The doctor has talked to me about a myomectomy option vs. hysterectomy for the fibroid removal. I don't know which way to go on this. I'm concerned about the success rate of a myomectomy and don't want to go through a surgical procedure and then end up having to have a hysterectomy in the long run. Naturally, I also don't want to have a hysterectomy and end up with complications and am really afraid of menopause.
647397 tn?1307056615 to fix the dysplasia. BUT last thursday I got an untrasound and it turned out I have uterine fibroids(Myoma) in large number and size (the biggest one almost 4" - or 10 cm), some subserosal and one peduculated (inside the uterus). She said I have 3 options: 1.- let them there and keep checking the bleeding during my periods and doing ultrasounds each 6 months, with the knowledge that if the bleeding becomes heavy the uterus is gone for sure.
Avatar n tn i found out last year around March that i have uterine fibroids and the largest was 4.2cm. i'm 24 years of age and i was told that uterine fibroids are rare in people my age. i get occasional pains on the side where the uterus is situated and the doctor said my tummy will bulge and i'll look like i'm a coupla weeks pregnant. i'd like to know if i really have to get them removed and if i dont will i have problems during pregnancy? what are my options?
Avatar n tn I am 67 yrs. old. My ob/gyn has told me I have cystocele and uterine prolapse, and that I need a vaginal hysterectomy and TVT. I have not had bad or noticeable problems, maybe leakage with a bad cough. I have not noticed anything with my uterus, but the dr says while they do the TVT I should have the hysterectomy. My question: Should the ovaries be removed or left in tact? I think perhaps I am still producing some hormones because I haven't had problems that might suggest otherwise.
Avatar n tn Hi. The "endometrial stripe" refers to the innermost layer lining the uterine cavity, which appears as a "stripe" on ultrasound. A stripe thickness of greater than 5 mm is abnormal and needs to be investigated further, usually by means of a biopsy. Your endometrial stripe thickness of 4 mm is normal.
Avatar f tn I had a Uterine Arterial Embolization rather than hysterectomy. It will basically cut off the blood to the fibroid tumor. Not sure what your symptoms/issues are?
Avatar f tn I'm 50 and have always been in good health. For the past two years I have been anemic. Recently, I had a 30 day bleed and my gyn gave me meds to stop it. I have had a good pap, good ca125, good uterus biopsy, but the ultra sound and ct we're abnormal showing a baseball size mass in my uterus and abnormal ovaries. I'm scheduled for a complete hysterectomy on 11/12. Should I get a second opinion? Is this customary procedure for these issues?
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, FAR TOO MANY women lose their uterus and/or ovary(ies) unnecessarily for benign growths. Hysterectomy and oophorectomy are the gold mine of the Gynecology specialty. If you do want or need this mass removed, there are procedures that preserve the female organs and their LIFELONG functions. Myomectomy or hysteroscopy can be used to "shell out" fibroids leaving your uterus and its anatomical, skeletal, hormonal, and sexual functions.
Avatar f tn A study published in 2008 showed that these problems can develop up to at least 8 years after the ablation and increase the risk for hysterectomy (to resolve the pelvic pain). I recall a woman saying that a gynecologist at a renowned east coast institution told her the procedure should not be done on women under age 50. I hope you can get resolution without having to undergo hysterectomy which has its own set of short and long-term problems.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 43 yr old mother of 2 and was diagnosed with Uterine Fibroids a couple years ago. I have annual ultrasounds that showed 4 fibroids, 1 being much larger than the others. My most recent mri showed 8 or 9 of them, so I know they are growing in size and number. HELP!! I have been reading alot about different procedures available and want to know if anyone out there has had success with any of them. I do not want my organs removed but I am done having children.
Avatar f tn I am 63. I recently had an abnormal pap smear. Subsequent a cone biopsy and uterine scrapings came back negative. A CT scan showed no masses. Still my Dr. is recommending a hysterectomy. He says I definitely have cancer and a hysterectomy is the only way to make sure we have it. I am wondering why a hysterectomy is advised based on negative biopsies. Kaiser is my provider. Do their surgeons get paid additional for surgeries?
Avatar n tn Is Uterine Hysterectomy the only solution to fibroids. Menstral period so heavy, has caused enemia. Ultra sound confirmed fibroids. The largest 3.5 cm. G.P. recomends hysterectomy. My age 46.
1740983 tn?1312873366 I rcommend that you have a discussion with your gynecologist specifically on treatment options that do not involve hysterectomy if desired. Some necrosing fibroids within the uterine cavity may be associated with abnormal vaginal discharge. I recommend that you be evaluated for more common causes fo vaginal discharge however such as vaginitis and STD's. Hotflashes are not caused by fibroids. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, removal of the uterus increases the risk for bladder and bowel prolapse. And there are other adverse effects of hysterectomy (as mentioned in my other post) so you would trade one set of problems for another. If your bladder is by chance already prolapsed as well, it would seem reasonable to suspend both the bladder and the uterus which would allow you to keep your uterus and its lifelong non-reproductive functions.
Avatar f tn How can my cancer travel to the uterus without passing through the tubes? Is it ovarian cancer or uterine? I am scheduled for a hysterectomy next week and my doctor says only the second biopsy would tell. Anyone else who has seen this before? I really want to keep my system - I am 30.
