hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I've been prone to cysts for 5years which only got tested and discovered last year! I am almost always in AGONY and have tried everything from birth control to surgery but they always return! I honestly cannot cope anymore and my docs useless! Please help!!
Avatar f tn HI, Even though you may not want any more children, you are too young for a hysterectomy. The bleeding can be stopped with help of haemostatic medicines and with use of hormones like progestins. Also a D&C may sometimes be necessary to stop the bleeding. The ovarian cysts need further evaluation regarding their size and nature. Many of the cysts in young women respond to birth control pills or regress spontaneously. Hence it would be best to consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing severe pain and discomfort from a combination of ovarian cysts and fibroids for 3 years now. I was treated with birth controls pills and then steroids and nothing has worked. I just got back the results of my most recent ultrasound. I have 2 cysts on an ovary and 2 fibroids. The doctor has talked to me about a myomectomy option vs. hysterectomy for the fibroid removal. I don't know which way to go on this.
Avatar f tn So I have looked up symptoms of ovarian cysts and one that caught my eye was weight gain. Has anyone ever gained weight because of cysts? I can not seem to lose any weight. I wonder if the cysts are causing this?
Avatar n tn m 46 and just had a hysterectomy for bilaterial ovarian cysts. I actually had 3 cysts and all were benign. Remember 95% of all cysts are benign. Best wishes to your friend.
Avatar f tn Lo and behold she told me it could be caused from ovarian cysts and she agreed to do a total hysterectomy. She wanted to do a total hysterectomy. Any advice or similar stories and outcomes would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I had 2 large ovarian cysts removed last May along with a full hysterectomy. I had suffered from the time I can remember with Heavy periods and also bad cramps. I had endometriosis which destroyed my insides ...I am not aware that size matters regarding ovarian cysts..I would discuss your options with your doctor. I didnt want a hysterectomy..because of hormones, menopause etc... i was 40 at the time. I was told if there was cancer or anything susipicous I would need the hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are odd, they can seemingly "pop" out overnight..there are several different kinds the type you have is not a functional cyst as those are always on the exterior of the ovary. We here at MH have an ovarian cyst forum perhaps you may wish to look there at some of the posts. let me know how you next visit goes.
Avatar f tn I have ovarian remnants on both sides. Also, the right side has developed ovarian cysts which is causing a great deal of pain and abdominal bloating. My concern is that none of my doctors have spoken with me about ovarian cancer. Is this normal that they are not worried? I was diagnosed with cervical cancer three years ago and had a hysterectomy, two years later they had to take my ovaries. I am having a great deal of pain on my right side.
Avatar n tn I have a history of ovarian cysts as large as 10cm and have had 2 surgeries in the past with one surgery involving removal of my right ovary. After being infertile for 8 years, I did get preganant after that and had 2 children. For 8 years after, I have had no symptoms or pain. In May/June the pain/discomfort came back. Had ultrasound and had 2 cysts. One 5cm, the other one 3 cm. The small one was complex with 10 compartments and the doctor didn't like it.
Avatar f tn I have been having lower abdomen problems (burning constantly) for about a year. I have been seeing a Gastroenterologist and have numerous test done and have been diagnosed with GERD and Barretts Esophagus and IBS. I take medication and watch what I eat but nothing helps. I had a CT Scan for these problems and it showed a cystic mass on my ovary so I had to go to my Gyn and had a Pelvic Sonogram. I have read that sometimes Ovarian Cancer can have the same symptoms as these other problems.
604168 tn?1222537786 Although the study finds the CA-125 blood test useful for evaluating treatment progress, the study results do not suggest the test can be used to screen for ovarian cancer. A recent email making the rounds urged women to ask their doctors for this test. For the CA-125 test to be a useful screening tool, it would have to detect most ovarian cancers in their early stages and not give positive results in women who do not have the cancer. The CA- 125 test does not meet these standards.
Avatar n tn Did they explain why they took your cervix? My husband and I have been discussing the possibility of a hysterectomy for me and he mentioned that if I do need one that he hoped they'd take my cervix too. Since I don't have any large colon everything kind of moved around and found new homes. my uterus is dropped and my cervix hangs pretty low thereby causing him issues with sex.
Avatar f tn My mother had an Ovarian Cyst for 14 years. It grew bigger than a Soccer ball. An Ultra sound would get things cleared.
Avatar f tn t see my doctor for a while and I am so anxious after finding this out and reading stuff online. I have almost all of the risk factors for ovarian cancer and now I am scared. I have had problems with heavy abnormal bleeding all my life and now I am 34 years old. When I say abnormal, most frequently I typically bleed for anywhere from 1-3 months without stopping. Please help! Thanks!
Avatar n tn i had a mri for hip pain and it came back with ovarian cysts and bone cysts is there a connection?
Avatar n tn Hello, my wife had a full hysterectomy approximately 10 years ago and everything was taken out, EVERYTHING. She had a few cysts and her gynecologist suggested a full hysterectomy due to the fact that the cysts could come back if she were to get a a half hysterectomy. Long story short, she's a strong woman who really keeps it together but she has recently expressed that she's been battling depression.
Avatar f tn Are you saying your history of ovarian cysts puts you at risk for uterine cancer? Do you have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and miss a lot of periods? Other than that, I have not heard of ovarian cysts increasing risk of uterine cancer (or ovarian cancer). Have you tried birth control pills to try to prevent the cysts and regulate your cycles?
Avatar n tn Cirella, thank you so much for the response ....... My sister didn't tell me how big the cysts are -- and she really isn't telling me anything because she knows I've been stressed out over my own cancer (I'm Stage II melanoma since Aug 08), but she does tell somethings to our younger sister...... She has had stomach indigestion since August but she is prone to that when under stress and I"ve certainly been the source of that in the past 3 months since my diagnosis.....

Avatar n tn I am not over weight, 42 years old and do have a family history of ovarian cancer on mothers side but my mother did not have ovarian cancer - she had a full hysterectomy at age 40. Should I go ahead and have my ovary removed?
Avatar f tn I have had issues so often with repeated ovarian cysts ever since 2011 when I had a hysterectomy. This past Friday was the third time I was in the ER since November 2017 because of the excrusiting pain from it. And because of my age of being 43 and not yet having gone through menopause they really want to conserve my ovaries not even by just taking one out and leaving one in they want to conserve both of them.
Avatar n tn What was exactly a full hysterectomy for you? Some doctors call a hysterectomy just removal of the uterus. For my full debulking hysterectomy I had my uterus, cervix, both ovaries, both fallopian tubes and full omentum apron and my appendix... Did you have your ovaries removed? If you did you could have remnant ovarie tissue that has cysts.. you need to ask more questions... I hope you find the answers...
Avatar f tn I had grapefruit cluster of cysts removed just over a year ago and at that time I wanted a complete hysterectomy since surgery with me is risky - they needed 2 surgeons fo rme. Well, they didn't do it (just took the cysts, ovary and tube) because of all the adhesions I had and all my organs were glued together. They were afraid they'd hurt something else. It was at the time that I started suffering from that cyst that my Lupus started flaring.
Avatar f tn 5 years ago i had my left ovarie removed due to cysts growing around it so they decided to take the ovarie out. I have recently had pains again on the other side only to go to the doctor to find out i have a 6cmx3.5cm cyst on my right one. I asked him what he was planning and he said to try and save some of my ovarie so i would not need a hysterectomy as i am only 36 years old.
