hysterectomy

1416390 tn?1333901604 I had a c section 20 mos ago. since then my periods have been really heavy and there is always a day I seem to gush blood. Well- my period came a week early this month and last night I seemed to have passed a lot of blood- that seemed really red. Now that I am up it does not seem to be flowing so strong. I don't have any pain- slight cramping. I am not sure whether I should go to the ER or not- hate to go if it is just my period! Just seems odd there was so, so much.
Avatar n tn She also has past history endometriosis and has always had heavy periods and problems with her periods. She also has uterine fibroids that have been giving her problems, even more so since the warfarin. Between the uterine fibroids and the warfarin, her menses are extremely heavy. She is on iron because she tends to be anemic around her period. Her periods are so heavy that she can go through 4-6 large pads an hour, sometimes more.
Avatar f tn I know many people that have gone this route that have had success. A hysterectomy is not a cure for Endo so please don't let anyone tell you that as it can still grow back. Most doctors who say what yours did about how bad it was means its possible he is not educated or skilled in Endo surgery. If you let me know where abouts you live I could help you find a good Endo surgeon so if there is a time you would see one you will have the name on hand.
Avatar n tn Is Uterine Hysterectomy the only solution to fibroids. Menstral period so heavy, has caused enemia. Ultra sound confirmed fibroids. The largest 3.5 cm. G.P. recomends hysterectomy. My age 46.
Avatar f tn Re-doing question -spelling in first one. Heavy(hemmoraging periods last one 42 days) Cannot do the traditional birth control route - severe reaction to first pill. 4 Fibroids in muscle? Enlarged uterus 12 weeks size. Waiting for MRI test in Feb. Told not a good candidate for ablasion. So... option is hysterctomy. Anemic cannot get iron up. Tests -biopsy, colonoscopy and Vag.Ultrasound. Blood work thyroid normal B12 high, below 5 ferritin, low hem 105. Taking 2 iron pills.
Avatar n tn I had a uterine ablation on 11/24 for heavy periods and mid month sporadic bleeding. Since then, I have had two menstrual periods, not super heavy but not light either. Also, I never used to have menstrual cramps and now the first two days, they are borderline unbearable. And, now I am really depressed because I started mid-month spotting again.
Avatar f tn I want to know if this is normal. The hysterectomy was done because i had fibroids and heavy periods.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had or heard of anyone that has had a partial hysterectomy (cervix, uterus and tubes removed-ovaries left) instead of a tubal? I have heard so many horror stories of heavy periods after a tubal, and mentioned that concern to my OB/GYN. I currently use the Nuvaring, but we are sure we are finished having kids, and I would like to get off hormones (I get the automatic 5lb weight gain). My OB/GYN recommended the partial hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn I have experienced heavy bleeding with clots for 5 plus years and it is getting worse. My periods are regular, but very heavy. Last period was different however, only two days long. Pain and cramps worsening, as well as radiating pain down left leg, that feels like leg is heating up from the inside. Transvaginal ultrasound showed a thick uterus during 3rd day of period and exam showed uterus has moved to left side of abdomen. I often suffer from low back pain and pressure in lower abdomen.
Avatar n tn I also have spotting in between. Periods are so heavy, that I go through a super, super tampon AND pad in 40 minutes or less for the first 3 days. I agree-I don't want a hysterectomy. He said he would only recommend it, if the lining had hyperplasia cells. He seemed concerned it did-looking at the lining, etc. on u/s. I have had one laparotomy for the tumors; one laparoscopy for severe adhesions and then the 2 c/s. I definitely don't want another large surgery, it I don't need it.
Avatar m tn Novasure vs Hysterectomy Women's Health When was Novasure created 20 years ago? How long has the procedure been available? Is having the Novasure procedure and uterine ablation just a bandaid for a Hysterectomy? I'm 53 had ectopic pregnancy, 2 miscarriages, 3 abortions, (no full term) 3 D & C, PeriMenopausal, I go through 10 pads a day for the first 5 days of my menstral cycle and my period lasts for 10 days. I might skip 1 month ot 2 then I'm like clock work again.
Avatar f tn I have a list of symptoms such as heavy prolonged periods with discharge back pain and even irregular heartbeat. Asthma like symtpoms. And what is your advice on a total hysterectomy - I've had kids and under age of 40.
1043568 tn?1253450188 After I started taking Tamoxifen (age 52) my periods stopped for about 6 months and then started again about once every 3 or 4 months with the last one being quite heavy. I am 54 years old and I was still pretty regular before the Tamoxifen. My gynecologist is recommending that I get a radical (abdominal) hysterectomy since I am still having periods. I had a D&C last year and had a benign polyp removed. Just had a trans-vaginal ultrasound 2 weeks ago and everything was fine.
Avatar f tn I'm 27 and had a Mirena inserted over six months ago after very heavy periods lead to anemia and needing some blood transfusions. I had a lot of pain to begin with, couldn't walk without getting bad cramping and have had light bleeding almost continuously since having it inserted. My doctor keeps urging me to keep it in for a bit longer to see if it settles down, it seems like it's this or having a hysterectomy, which I'm not too keen on.
Avatar f tn I would certainly talk to your doctor about seeing if there is anything that can be done about the periods. My mom went through really heavy periods, had the uterus scraped. That didn't work so they did a hysterectomy. I would suggest talking to your doctor and seeing if any type of birth control could help lessen the periods. I know I'm young but I did get 3 periods a month and really really heavy ones for a few months until i finally got on a different birth control pill.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with PCOS a yr half ago. I'm positive my hormones are imbalanced, periods have always been irregular, heavy bleeding & clots. I've now been diagnosed with thick lining of my uterus, bleeding for over a month, almost 2, with light bleeding, not heavy, no clots. Bloated tummy, abdominal discomfort (not like heavy cramps). I am awaiting hear back on a referral to a Gynecologist, from what I was told by the referral coordinator could take 3-6 months to get into.
Avatar n tn Hi everyone. My history is: age 48, pre-menopausal, very heavy frequent periods and recently had an ovarian cyst that burst. CA-125 in 2008 was 22...this week it's 37. (lab said they only have part1 of the test back...is it a 2 part test?) U/s shows I have a complex 4mm x 4mm cyst on left ovary that grows and shrinks and I have always had something on the left side. Had a ueterine hysteroscopy and it showed negative for cancer, no fibroids but very thickened wall.
Avatar n tn Thank you for all your subsequent postings. I just saw them today on 5/28. I have been thru all the tests, I have no fibroids, had a normal biopsy, lots of bleeding which is now easing back into normal periods every 32 days except for missing two consecutive months (march and april). The bleeding is more normal now. I had estrogen levels normal to child-bearing years just last month (sigh) and didn't go on progesterone.
Avatar n tn Sounds like menopause is about to start for you. My mom went through the same thing when she was 38. Her periods were totally messed up etc for about 3 years. She finally gave up and told them to do something about it.She couldn't afford to buy pads every other day. They waited another 6 months and did a hysterectomy on her because she was bleeding way too much.
1811258 tn?1316528846 I remember bleeding non stop for three months after each pregnancy as well as the heavy periods . The only relief I had was during my three pregnancies . Hope this helps ,let us know what you decide and how it all goes for you.
Avatar f tn You could also try a heating pad on your lower abdomen to see if it helps alleviate some of the pain, although when I had horribly painful and heavy periods (I had to have a hysterectomy in 1998 at age 35), I did find that even though the heating pad did help my pain a little bit, it did sometimes make my bleeding increase, so beware that that may happen. It may be something as simple as a hormonal imbalance, but it's definitely something to be looked into.
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with adenomyosis and have similar symptoms as you. I have extremely painful periods, heavy bleeding, with clots, very intense back pain, and now I have started having periods that lasts as long as 35 days, bleeding. Needless to say not only am I exhausted but I now have anemia. My OB told me my only option is a hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn If someone has recommended a hysterectomy for endometriosis, look for another doctor. A small fibroid is not a reason to get a hysterectomy, either. Endometriosis can be treated by laparoscopic surgery, but it is to remove the endometriosis, not the uterus. Are you sure your doctor wanted you to have a hysterectomy? Here is a link that describes endometriosis. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn Want to pray for the best but cannot help but fear the worst. Also she was a heavy smoker for a good 30 years of her adult life, but kicked the habit approx. 10 years ago. She is 69 years of age.
Avatar f tn I have never heard of this medication. I also have endometriosis but cannot be on any kind of hormone due to Hemiplegic migraines. The only thing that helps me with the severe cramping is naproxin. Please update with how you're doing and whether or not the ponstel seems to help. My doctor is recommending that I have a hysterectomy but I am not ready for that, so I'm just riding it out for now. Do you have heavy periods? Have you tried anything for them?
Avatar f tn Most lesions were removed at that time, but I still continued to symptomatic (heavy, long, painful periods and significant daily pain). I was put on Femara, then Lupron (for a total of 1 1/2 years post-surg). There was no improvement and, to make matters worse, I fell into a very deep depression while on Lupron. I was taken off of Lupron in February and had a Mirena IUD placed shortly thereafter. Again, minimal improvements. I had another lap/hysteroscopy done last month.
Avatar f tn do not do any heavy lifting or vaccume or heavy house work for 6 weeks ...stock up on some crossword puzzles, needlepoint ...movie rentals whatever you like for quiet time....ask for and accept help your gonna need it....wear loss clothing...be prepared for very serious pain your pain meds will handle it .....take them....the vast majority of women feel completley physically healed by 6 weeks....take it very easy for 1st intercourse after 6 weeks and doctors ok.....
Avatar f tn I have been having issues with my periods. I bleed for sometimes months and most times my periods are heavy with huge blood clots. I recently seen a Dr. obviously concerned about this especially because my month long bleeding was draining me literally. I felt tired, sluggish and dizzy at times and I was noticing that I was becoming sick often, catching colds quite a bit. After seeing the Dr.
