hysterectomy

733437 tn?1232182023 I am not to sure about anything on what exactly a hysterectomy calls for, but Im sure that I dont want kids/babies EVER. So I was wondering if it is healthy for someone who is 18 to have a a hysterectomy, or is there other ways to becoming sterilized?
Avatar f tn i was told it was impossible to have another. i was diagnosed with cervical cancer and when i went in for my pre op visit for a hysterectomy Suprise your pregnant. mind you i was on the shot too! now i am 32 weeks with my fist little girl. i have two boys already.!
Avatar n tn The only reason I need to go ahead and do something is the fibroids are pushing up against my kidney and causing that to inflame and has caused pain in my lower stomach and my side/back. Is a hysterectomy the only option?
Avatar f tn Wow, I really would tell her to postpone the hysterectomy. She would have to get an abortion and many people don't agree with that, maybe she's against it herself. I would tell her to talk to her doctor. She will definitely have to mention this b/4 her surgery. Good luck, I wish her the best.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing severe pain and discomfort from a combination of ovarian cysts and fibroids for 3 years now. I was treated with birth controls pills and then steroids and nothing has worked. I just got back the results of my most recent ultrasound. I have 2 cysts on an ovary and 2 fibroids. The doctor has talked to me about a myomectomy option vs. hysterectomy for the fibroid removal. I don't know which way to go on this.
Avatar f tn Gardasil is a VLP (Virus Like Partials) vaccine (so it is safe) protecting against infection by HPV types 16, 18, 6, and 11. GARDASIL was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in boys and young men ages 9 to 26. So it could b used "off label" in an older male. Again, I think the Infectious disease doctors could make a recommendation here. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I also had diarrhea after my hysterectomy and it was awful and lasted a long time (over a year) but my gyn / surgeon refused to see me (even though he'd been my doctor for 20 years). I didn't see another doctor (a gastroenterologist) until about 9 months post-op. I didn't know to take a probiotic... wish I'd done that starting immediately post-op. My bowels have never been normal since surgery.
Avatar f tn m scared to have the hysterectomy because the recovery process seems so long and painful and one of my biggest fears is pain. Any and all positive stories and tips will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Did they explain why they took your cervix? My husband and I have been discussing the possibility of a hysterectomy for me and he mentioned that if I do need one that he hoped they'd take my cervix too. Since I don't have any large colon everything kind of moved around and found new homes. my uterus is dropped and my cervix hangs pretty low thereby causing him issues with sex.
Avatar f tn t wear anything but sweats periods. After a sonagram I am told I have a 2.7cm fibroid pushing against the lining of my uterus. And a polyp. I was going to do the novasure thing but because of the position of this fibroid the success rate decreased by more than I'm happy with. I do not want to continue being housebound for days at a time each month, she suggested a hysterectomy might be an answer. What can I expect?
Avatar f tn I think you have to decide for you. I had one at 32 yr. old and was just miserable for several months prior. I felt sooo much better after the hysterectomy! I didn't realize until after how much trouble a uterus and ovaries could cause. Goodluck!
Avatar n tn Thank you for posting and warning other women about the damaging effects of hysterectomy, weight gain being just one of many. I regret mine every day too. :( My doctor was deceptive about my condition and treatment options and I should not have trusted him. Having been his patient for 20 years, I thought I could. Unfortunately, deceit is the main reason there are so many hysterectomies in the U.S. and some other countries.
Avatar n tn If your doc tests you for things like thyroid and even hypoglycemia, and if you are already cutting sugars and exercising, you might ask also for hormone tests, and see if the doc will prescribe hormones for a while to see if this eases. Depending on why you got the hysterectomy, he or she might do so if you explain the problems you are having.
Avatar m tn My mother has had clear cell carcinoma that was diagonosed after total hysterectomy in march 2006. She was disease free for 21 months after receiving Cisplatin and Taxol. them a small mass in her omentum which was surgically removed and received doxil +cycophosphamide. Now after 7 months She had Isolated recurrence in her 1 lymph node (3c,x2cm) anterior to Aorta.Doc did not bother to treat and waited 3 months and CA 125 elevated to 536 from 128. Node became 3.
Avatar f tn I have Hashimoto's for 7 years. In May they removed my Thyroid. To date I have not had any stability with my TSH levels. A month after my thyroid removal my TSH levels were 0.54. Two months later it was 29.3 and new symptoms started creeping in. Notably my abdomen is the size of an 8 month pregnant woman (I had a hysterectomy so this isn't a possibility). I feel full all the time and have loose stools all day.
Avatar m tn I am terrified because the doctor had me sign surgical consent to a hysterectomy if necessary meaning that if the cyst was cancerous he would have to perform a hysterectomy. I am only 20 and have always wanted kids. Has anyone had a cyst this large and complex without cancer? How prepared should I be to receive a hysterectomy? Also I am getting and exploratory laparotomy- how much time does it take to recover from that?
Avatar f tn I had my hysterectomy on August 22 of 2006, I was 36 years old, started having thyroid pains within eighteen months of surgery. Cysts in both breasts within 3 months of my hysterectomy and again a year later. Cysts on ovary, now I've been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer (papillary) at 38. Could there be a connection between the Hysterectomy and Thyroid Cancer? No major problems before hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn Do not overdo it - no strenuous work or exercise or lifting (they usually say for 6 weeks or so) as it can cause tearing of internal and external sutures and adhesions.
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy and my cervix removed , the top of the vagina is stitched and so nothing can come out i thought .
Avatar n tn Going in for surgery Nov17'08. The total hysterectomy, hernia and sling will be performed. I am very nervous after reviewing this site and the "horror" stories told. I have fibroids pressing against the badder, which is now, poorly distended, a overly large uterus ,as well as a hernia. I have a calcified kidney stone"which is being "guarded".
Avatar f tn When I had my cysts removed via laparotomy, they had planned to do a total hysterectomy and spinal anesthesia is common for hysterectomies. I believe that standard anesthesia is used but is inserted through an epidural in your spine. Afterwards this is left in place for a bit and your pain medications are fed through it. They will keep close attention and continually test your freezing with cold. I had an epidural with my son and this did feel differently.
1467678 tn?1370941532 i had problems with acne and hairiness hence different pills, and i experienced depression and moodiness on different pills. Nuvaring ( I got continuous uti infections from having this inside me) Implanon- no sex drive at all ( relationship issues due to that) Depo provera injection worked for me was happy with this but I'm not sure its suitable to my above conditions.
Avatar f tn If you are struggling with pms, you should discuss the possibility of a hysterectomy with you gyno and see what they would suggest. It was the best thing I ever did.
Avatar n tn t know about the low cortisol, but after my hysterectomy I had facial hair, weight gain in the abdomen and thighs and my breasts shrunk. Don't know why yet. Go to www.***********.com Lorna V. has the best information I've come across yet. If she is doing a seminar in your area, go to it...she's quite knowledgeable as she has gone through more hormonal troubles than most.
