Avatar n tn I agree with tmarland04. An ultrasound usually does not detect endometriosis. I personally had endometriosis. I underwent laparascopic surgery in 2001 and battled it for 6 years until I finally had to have a complete hysterectomy (ovary removal) and I am only 31 years old.
Avatar m tn I am thinking about having a hysterectomy because of terrible endemetriosis, I am 47 and have a history of breast cancer, so I cannot get any hormone replacement therapy. But i have read that maybe it won't help. Does anyone have any thoughts?
314833 tn?1263259499 NO not at all. I had a hysterectomy for the same reason. endometriosis amoung severe scar tissue. I am so much happier now that I have had my hysterectomy and don't have to be in pain anymore!! Please also post this on the hysterectomy forum so you can get other's opinions there as well.
Avatar f tn I have adenomyosis another related type uterus issue. I didn't develop this until a few years ago so with my first pregnancy I didn't have this condition. This pregnancy is very much so different. I have extreme pressure and pain, bleeding and spotting. I typically gave mild to moderate pain in my pelvic area right before, during and after my periods so I'm guessing maybe for me this will just be the case with this pregnancy.
Avatar f tn info/ and read accurate info on endometriosis...since my hysterectomy and ovaries removed 11 years ago I have had my pelvic organs glue together 2 more times and have to be surgically cut apart and endo excised...so don't let your Dr. dismiss you...get copies of your medical records and see a specialist...most will review your records for free...the way it was explained to me...until all the endo is excised (cut out) it's much like when you have a piece of sand in your eye...
Avatar n tn I have endometriosis, and I am allergic to latex. I have a long history of breast cancer in my family. I cannot have children, I have adverse reactions to hormone therapy and birth controll. I have an IUD right now but am in severe pain. Non latex condoms do not offer enough protection. I am 28 and thinking about having a hysterectomy, but am unsure if that will increase my risk for breast cancer, and other hormone issues, any feedback or help would be great!
Avatar f tn I want to recommend, crwstar, if you have any endometriosis, ask them to excise, not laser burn. I did this for my hysterectomy, but was burned when I didn't know it with the first laporotomy. I later learned that it is better to cut than to burn, because the body treats the burns like foreign bodies and more scarring can happen. Adhesions are no fun.
Avatar f tn If someone has recommended a hysterectomy for endometriosis, look for another doctor. A small fibroid is not a reason to get a hysterectomy, either. Endometriosis can be treated by laparoscopic surgery, but it is to remove the endometriosis, not the uterus. Are you sure your doctor wanted you to have a hysterectomy? Here is a link that describes endometriosis. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn I have endometriosis and m/c in june and still have not gotten pregnant we've been trying for two years any idea's
Avatar f tn I heard that pregnancy and hysterectomy can cure endometriosis. It can also attack again as far as you still menstruate. Menopause will cure completely. What type of surgery you had?
Avatar f tn I had a total hysterectomy in 1997 which took care of my symptoms. The last couple of weeks I have had symptoms that feel like my endometriosis has returned. Is this possible?
Avatar f tn my question is, when you have a baby by hysterectomy and some of the placenta is left behind can this then lead to endrometriosis as thats what i have and now i am having to have a hysterectomy which i am really scared off. im having it done in 3 weeks time.
1222892 tn?1312148824 Yes endometriosis can be on the bowel and bladder for example. Sometimes there are places in which the doctor is unable to remove it all.
Avatar f tn i dont want to get a hysterectomy if possible as i do really want children, but i am finding it too hard being in pain all the time and trying to keep up with life too which still happens in the background, such as work and studying for the degree i am currently working towards. If anyone can help, please do! i would really appreciate it!
Avatar f tn I’ve been worried it could be something more serious but, the thought also occurred to me today that it might be the endometriosis since a hysterectomy never really cures it. I haven’t had any pain or issues since the hysterectomy 3 years ago until now. My question is, is there anyone else out there who also had a hysterectomy but experiences endo pain??? If so, was it similar to what I’m describing?? Thanks in advance for your help!!
Avatar f tn I've just been told I have endometriosis, my mom had it, and she had a hysterectomy. Has anyone experience conceiving a child with endo? Can you tell me if it was difficult or okay. I'm nervous for when I eventually do want to have kids.
Avatar n tn Anyway, if you want children, then find a Doctor that specializes in endometriosis and pregnancy cases. This Doctor will treat you until you are at an age that you feel ready to have a baby. Don't let ANY Doctor force you into a Hysterectomy at SUCH a young age if you are even thinking of one day having children.
Avatar f tn Hi! I wish I could help, but I know very little about endometriosis. There is an endometriosis forum on this website that seems more active than this page. If you don't get a response here, maybe try there? Good luck!
Avatar f tn endometriosis of ovary, Endometriosis of rectoviginal septum and vagina, Endometriosis of pelvic peritoneum, before my consultant said I also have adenomyosis, my next surgery on 3rd October to remove all endometriosis..I'am really tired of this disease, its true this disease destroy your life, relationship, work, family, everything....
Avatar f tn I have DIE (deeply infiltrated) endometriosis even after my complete hysterectomy because a hysterectomy is not a cure...the endometriosis lesions/implants must be cut out by a specialist and their are very few. so I would suggest you come on over to the endometriosis board so maybe we can help you find a specialist...they actually cut the disease out...they don't burn it...they don't take organs unless absolutely necessary and most will look at your medical records for free...
Avatar m tn I had my hysterectomy with ovaries removed 11 years ago for endometriosis..the endo was not excised as it was not a specialist so my endo continued and it then took me 7 yrs to find a true specialist who believed it could be endo after having all my female parts removed...he went in and sure enough frozen pelvis again...I also thanks to having my organs removed deal with pelvic organ prolapse...sex is very different...
