Hysterectomy endometriosis ovaries

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy endometriosis ovaries

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn That is why hormones are given to suppress the estrogen or removal of ovaries is suggested. A complete hysterectomy is often suggested as best remedy for severe endo. Endo is difficult to image by any means (US, CT, x-ray). Only an endometrioma or "chocolate" cyst that results from endo entering the ovary, can be imaged, but it is not 100% accurate in determining the type of cyst (typically no imaging is).
10905170 tn?1414131788 This is normal if you still have your ovaries and they are still functioning (about 40% of the time they shut down after hysterectomy). Women who have endometriosis and have their ovaries removed at the time of hysterectomy sometimes report the symptoms you are experiencing. The likely reason in this scenario is that any remaining endo implants produce estrogen which is why they say that hysterectomy is not a cure for endo.
Avatar n tn I have endometriosis, and I am allergic to latex. I have a long history of breast cancer in my family. I cannot have children, I have adverse reactions to hormone therapy and birth controll. I have an IUD right now but am in severe pain. Non latex condoms do not offer enough protection. I am 28 and thinking about having a hysterectomy, but am unsure if that will increase my risk for breast cancer, and other hormone issues, any feedback or help would be great!
Avatar m tn I am thinking about having a hysterectomy because of terrible endemetriosis, I am 47 and have a history of breast cancer, so I cannot get any hormone replacement therapy. But i have read that maybe it won't help. Does anyone have any thoughts?
Avatar f tn info/ and read accurate info on endometriosis...since my hysterectomy and ovaries removed 11 years ago I have had my pelvic organs glue together 2 more times and have to be surgically cut apart and endo excised...so don't let your Dr. dismiss you...get copies of your medical records and see a specialist...most will review your records for free...the way it was explained to me...until all the endo is excised (cut out) it's much like when you have a piece of sand in your eye...
Avatar n tn Had a hysterectomy 7yrs ago. did not remove ovaries or fallopian tubes. Starting to have lots of pelvic pain again. Will I have to have them removed eventually?
314833 tn?1263259499 NO not at all. I had a hysterectomy for the same reason. endometriosis amoung severe scar tissue. I am so much happier now that I have had my hysterectomy and don't have to be in pain anymore!! Please also post this on the hysterectomy forum so you can get other's opinions there as well.
Avatar n tn 1) laparoscopy( a tiny tv camera is inserted through an incision near the belly button) to possibly remove ovaries/scar tissue/endometriosis depending on what we found in there OR 2) try a high fluid/high fiber bowel regimen to see if that alleviated symptoms without having to resort to more surgery. OR 3) try medications like lupron or birth control pills to try to supress endometriosis symptoms again without putting you through more surgery.
Avatar f tn I had a total hysterectomy in 1997 which took care of my symptoms. The last couple of weeks I have had symptoms that feel like my endometriosis has returned. Is this possible?
Avatar f tn My doctor wanted to leave my ovaries, but having read a lot on your site about other women who ended up going back in for surgery within two years to have there ovaries removed, and also that the ovaries are what also helps your endometriosis grow, I insisted they be removed. My mother, about 10 years ago had breast cancer caused from estrogen replacement therapy, she also prior to the breast cancer, had cervical cancer(18 years ago).....
Avatar f tn I'd just have the cysts and whatever endo they can removed/clean out your tubes and see what that does. And for a lot of women the pain is thier ovaries and yeah a hysterectomy doesn't really help that. I'd talk to your surgeon and if she just pushes the hysterectomy which sadly a lot do then get another opinion. Have you had any other surgery for this? Because hysterectomy really is like the absolute last option. Well second to last, the last option is having everything removed.
398893 tn?1201315707 I had a hysterectomy done in 2004 because of Endometriosis and they left one ovary in and I was wanting to know, Is it possible that the endometriosis could come back into my one ovary? I still have severe stomach and plevis pain at times with some Sharp shooting pains in the Pelvic area....Anyone have any info that might help me? Please.......
Avatar f tn Endometriosis is a medical condition where the endometrium (the lining of your uterus... aka the stuff that comes out when you have your period), grows in other places outside of the uterus (like on your ovaries etc.). This can be incredibly painful. Hysterectomy is the removal of all or part of the reproductive organs (uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix).
Avatar f tn Hmmm - So they did a "complete" hysterectomy (uterus, ovaries, tubes) because you had an ovarian cyst? Yet they could not remove the cyst? Maybe I am misunderstanding.
1087187 tn?1256595051 I have had a hysterectomy and both ovaries removed years ago. I just got an initial pathology report back from a surgery I had a week ago and it said the mass they took out showed portions of hemorrhagic corpus luteal cysts and no endometriosis. After I had a ultasound before the surgery they thought it was cancer. After the surgery the surgeon said she thought it was a endometrioma.
Avatar n tn A hysterectomy means removal of the uterus. The ovaries are often not removed. Oopherectomy (sp?) means the ovaries were removed. Find out if you still have them. It is possible to get ovca following a hysterectomy. Please see your doc for a workup. I wish you the best.
Avatar f tn I had severe endometriosis finally confirmed after I diagnosed it clear back in 2004...I had a complete hysterectomy with my ovaries removed and my endometriosis continued to destroy my pelvis...now 6 surgeries later I am doing better in regards to pain...but I still have pain every day...
Avatar f tn About 18 years ago I had a hysterectomy because of Endometriosis. They removed uterus, cervix, left ovary and both fallopian tubes. All they left me was my right ovary. For a few years now I been having problems with a mass on my right ovary. It measures 5 x 6 cm. I have alot of pain, the even makes my right pelvis bone hurt, the pain goes into my groin and down the front of my leg. My groin also has a large lump in it.
Avatar f tn Hi! I wish I could help, but I know very little about endometriosis. There is an endometriosis forum on this website that seems more active than this page. If you don't get a response here, maybe try there? Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have always had female problems. In 2016 my OB decoded it was time for a complete hysterectomy. I don't have my ovaries, tubes, uterus, or cervix. In the past year I've begun having what feels like menstrual cramps. I don't understand what's going on. What could be wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Avatar f tn I’m 47, I had a complete hysterectomy 6 years ago (both overdoes, filopion tubes, uterus) due to endometriosis. I have not done any HRT but have had the hardest time with anxiety, hot flashes, brain fog, fatigue, achy joints. Is it pointless to start HRT now 6 years later?
19592380 tn?1480606612 Well I recently had a hysterectomy but I'm older. I'm 48. I did keep my ovaries but worry because I had some endometriosis. I didn't know about it until after surgery. I went in for Adenomyosis and it was bad. I think if your doctor agrees with you and you have weighed all your options and feel this is the best thing for your body, then have your doctor fight for you with the insurance company. Don't let others scare you about all the negatives.
Avatar f tn I was a year older than you when I had my hysterectomy for endometriosis. That was 25 years ago when they had only a couple of treatments. I tried them but they did'nt work. The surgery was the best option for me. But, now they have more treatments available. Can you say which ones you've tried? How advanced is the endometriosis?
Avatar f tn If they are found to be in menopausal levels then, hormone replacement therapy will help a lot. Even if the ovaries are not removed, post hysterectomy many women suffer from such symptoms. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn had a hysterectomy 30 yrs. ago and am still cramping why?
