Hysterectomy endometriosis ovarian cysts

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy endometriosis ovarian cysts

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn I had 2 large ovarian cysts removed last May along with a full hysterectomy. I had suffered from the time I can remember with Heavy periods and also bad cramps. I had endometriosis which destroyed my insides ...I am not aware that size matters regarding ovarian cysts..I would discuss your options with your doctor. I didnt want a hysterectomy..because of hormones, menopause etc... i was 40 at the time. I was told if there was cancer or anything susipicous I would need the hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn There is a study that says there is about a 40% risk of ovarian failure after hysterectomy. Another study says that the risk of ovarian failure is greater if one ovary is removed at the time of hysterectomy. Intact women's ovaries produce hormones into her 80's for optimal health and well-being. Ovary removal or failure is associated with many increased health risks and symptoms that reduce quality of life.
Avatar n tn I have a history of ovarian cysts as large as 10cm and have had 2 surgeries in the past with one surgery involving removal of my right ovary. After being infertile for 8 years, I did get preganant after that and had 2 children. For 8 years after, I have had no symptoms or pain. In May/June the pain/discomfort came back. Had ultrasound and had 2 cysts. One 5cm, the other one 3 cm. The small one was complex with 10 compartments and the doctor didn't like it.
Avatar f tn On March 30th, I had a laporascopy to have my two ovarian cysts removed (both on the left ovary). However, during the surgery my gynecologist discovered that one of my cysts had dissapeared (either reabsorbed or ruptured) and that my other cyst was twisted. On top of this she found a "small amount of endometriosis that was treated". I don't have a post-op until June 1st because I will out of province. I was just wondering what my prognosis is? Will it come back?
Avatar f tn (In my town, that was a reproductive endocrinologist, but your regular ob/gyn could find out.) If all that you have is ovarian cysts and endometriosis, removing the one ovary if it is compromised by the cysts, and removing the endometriosis, seems like it would be more to the point. If a specialist who is good at getting all the endometriosis tells you that your present plan is the only way, then go for it.
Avatar f tn In the IUI process I was treated with siphene (ovarian stilmulation drug) . I t was unsuccessful. My gynaec said it is endometriosis , if I conceive my endometriosis will disappear. But to be frank everytime I do the fertility treatment my cyst becomes worst . I think due to the hyperstimulation of the cystic ovaries. Now I have decided not to go to second child. Ia planning for hysterectomy after so much suffering I have regular menstrual cycle of 28 days, bleeding normal.
483733 tn?1326798446 You know... I read something the other day that tied smoking to Ovarian Cysts too. Now, I don't know if that's scientific or not.. But I used to be a heavy smoker. . Of course, they tie smoking to just about everything don't they?
Avatar m tn If they are taking your uterus are they taking your ovaries as well? Also the cysts can cause that much pain and be benign. Ovarian Cancer until the very last is not painful that is why it gets overlooked. My main symptoms was throwing up because one of my 8 tumors was blocking my bowel and diaphragm pain because the cancer was on my diaphragm. I felt like the wind was knocked out of me and I would have contractions for two hours. After my surgery and chemo both those things stopped.
Avatar f tn I am sorry you are dealing with this. The good thing is that most ovarian cysts are benign and most resolve on their own. However, these sound like the type that do not go away so need to be surgically removed especially the larger one due to size. According to radiology websites, hypoechoic cysts are usually endometriomas or teratomas (dermoids) both of which are benign (non-cancerous) cysts. Of course, imaging is not exact so they cannot know for sure until they do surgery.
Avatar f tn Not sure what to do, I am fifty, perimenopausal, Dr says I have complex ovarian cysts and endometriosis, (also two types of bladder problems going on) Dr says that I also tested positive for the MTHFR gene which makes me high risk for not surviving a hysterectomy, says if I do survive, I would have to go to a nursing care facility, also told me that she cannot say that I do not have ovarian cancer, ca-125 was normal, she says I have alot going on, put me on pill for bladder, wants me to start in
Avatar f tn in 2005 i had a full hysterectomy due to many many years of endo and cysts. in 2007 i had abdominal pain that i knew all to well. but i was shrugged off saying it was in my head. in feb. 2008 the pain came back again. i had ended up in ER and they did a MRI and siad my left ovary looks normal. after i got over the shock i told him he was wrong to look again.
Avatar f tn I'm a 42 year old woman and have just been diagnosed with stage 3/4 Endometriosis from 2 ultra-sounds. I've got several ovarian cysts and the latest ultrasound identified the largest one on my left ovary being 6.6 x 7.2 and the largest one on my right ovary being 5.6 x 2.1. From this, my Gynecologist is stating I need a hysterectomy .
Avatar n tn My clear cell was found in the pathology lab when I had a hysterectomy for complex cysts, fibroids and endometriosis . My oncologist said it was the endo that had under gone transformation into ovarian cancer . Clear cell and endometrioid are the two ovarian cancers that are thought to be linked to endo because they are usually found along side it. http://www.womens-health.co.uk/cancer.html http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12861175 http://www.endometriosis.
178345 tn?1242536246 I had huge complex cysts and endometriosis , my endo turned malignant into ovarian cancer unfortunately , I get backaches and sometimes feel like im going to get my period, I had a total hysterectomy over 3 years ago now , ovarian remnant syndrome is rarer than ovarian cancer , are you sure you haven,t strained your back? once you have done that once you can be plagued by pain.
Avatar n tn At month 27 on Tamoxifen, I had an ultrasound that shows a lickening of the uterean wall and 3 complex ovarian cysts. My Dr. is doing a biopsy but my question is why would my periods AND the hot flashes go away completely? I would have thought that if my period stopped my hot flashes would get worse not better. Does this indicate Endometrial cancer? This discussion is related to Tamoxifen and endometriosis.
Avatar f tn I am a 31 year old female with a history of endometriosis and ovarian cysts. I had a hysterectomy back in 2014. For the last 2 months I have had an aching sometimes sharp pain in my lower left side. It seems to get worse with a full bladder and will radiate to my hip. Does this sound like a cyst or a UTI or maybe a pulled muscle? Any advice you can offer is helpful and appreciated.
Avatar f tn Unless you have the BRCA mutation you have a 1.4 % of ovarian cancer in a life time. 98% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Most women have several benign ovarian cysts in a life time. Uterine cancer and ovarian are not related which is weird. It is good they are checking. It may all turn out to be benign endometriosis. In the old days if you were past child bearing years they would do a hysterectomy. Now they know how important ovaries are to a woman's over all health and do not take them.
Avatar f tn There is, however, one thing that makes me willing to seriously consider surgery, and that is the increased risk of ovarian cancer in women with endometriosis. And according to a recent European study, endometriosis increases the risk of some other cancers as well. I have also read that endometriosis increases the risk of certain autoimmune conditions (though that connection doesn't seem to be one that's made as often). I have a family history of RA, so that is a concern too.
1087187 tn?1256595051 I just got an initial pathology report back from a surgery I had a week ago and it said the mass they took out showed portions of hemorrhagic corpus luteal cysts and no endometriosis. After I had a ultasound before the surgery they thought it was cancer. After the surgery the surgeon said she thought it was a endometrioma. Now the report is coming back saying its basiclly a functional cyst when I don't have ovaries and I have gone through menopause. How is any of this possible?
Avatar f tn I also have had endometriosis for 20 years. Can the ovarian cyst be causing rib pain? My ribs, back and abdomen hurt on my right side. The pain is almost unbearable. I feel it constantly. I also have bouts of constipation and diarrhea. I've also gained weight. I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy in a month but I'm not sure I can wait that long. Is all this normal? I feel like I'm going crazy.

1615999 tn?1307461942 I had an u/s today to check on a couple ovarian cysts I have on my left ovary and to get a better look at a build up or something that was found on my uterine wall durning my last u/s. I found out that the lump or whatever that was on my uterine wall is gone now, so that was good news. However I do have to go back on May 6th for another u/s. She needs to monitor the 2 cysts on my left ovary and make sure that I do not get anymore. Being on the pill I should not be getting any at all.
Avatar n tn I had extreme endometriosis on many of my organs so I had an abdominal as opposed to vaginal. I always had cysts on my right ovary but my doctor told me is was better to keep my ovaries than not. Since the hysterectomy, I have continued to have cysts on the right ovary. Lately I have alot of pain on my lower right side and down my right leg. I am nauseated almost everyday. I have alot of gas buildup and my stomach is swollen.
Avatar f tn June 2013 Partial hysterectomy where my uterus only was removed. Several months of daily bleeding and pain prior. Endometriosis was suspected prior, but doctor's notes say there was no endometriosis. April 2017 A complex 3 cm left ovarian cyst is probably physiological, but may be the cause for pain. Given the complexity, a follow-up with pelvic ultrasound is recommended in 6 weeks. Aug 2017 Pelvic ultrasound revealed 3.2cm complex cyst on left ovary.
Avatar f tn 4% chance of Ovarian Cancer in a life time. I think your plan is a good one since Ovarian cancer gets missed. Most cysts are benign and some can cause pain and discomfort. Let us hope yours is benign.
