Hysterectomy endometriosis laparoscopy

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy endometriosis laparoscopy

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn org/endometriosis/diagnosis/ .... Endometriosis can only be diagnosed via laparoscopy with “visual inspection” unless disease is visable in the vagina or elsewhere [1]. – but the surgeon performing this procedure needs to know what s/he is looking for [2] – in fact: the incidence of the diagnosis of endometriosis is down to the curiosity of the surgeon – and the pathologist!
Avatar f tn I had laparoscopy surgery done about 8 weeks ago. I actually went in to have a cyst removed, but the cyst had already ruptured, but they found endometriosis. I have hurt and hurt and I still hurt. I go tomorrow to my ob to discuss further options. At my 2 week post op, he mentioned about the Lupron shot which I do NOT want to take for various reasons. I hurt mainly on my right ovary, but when he did the lap. he said my ovaries looked fine.
Avatar f tn Doing a laparoscopy is the only way to confirm an endometriosis diagnosis, have you even had that done? Or is a hysterectomy your doctor's first treatment suggestion? There are plenty of other things you can try before doing something that extreme. There are plenty of birth control/hormone drugs that can be tried to reduce symptoms (but be sure you research them before taking because some, like Lupron, have permanent severe side effects that stay even when stopping the drug).
Avatar f tn My doctor has suggested laparoscopy and even a hysterectomy to help treat my painful mental cycles. Today I had a sonahystagrsm and they found 2 follicular cysts ( one on each over measuring 2.5 cm in diameter) and a fluid filled sac under my c-section scar. The doctor believes none of these things are contributing to my severe abdominal pain and cramping. I guess I am wondering what your opinions are or if you have had anything similar.
Avatar f tn Laparoscopy. I had that done to get rid of scar tissuesvand doc gound i had a little endometeriosis. He got rid of it.
Avatar f tn I had the same symptoms for years, and dealt with it until I started having extremely irregular periods. Long story short I have stage IV endometriosis, had a hysterectomy. I didn't know I had endo before the hysterectomy, I had it because I had severe adhesion and ovarian mass, and basically frozen pelvis. I kept one ovary so I still have cycles, and 6 months later I am still in severe pain at that time every month. My leg hurts so bad I can't walk, and nothing really helps.
Avatar f tn I’ve been worried it could be something more serious but, the thought also occurred to me today that it might be the endometriosis since a hysterectomy never really cures it. I haven’t had any pain or issues since the hysterectomy 3 years ago until now. My question is, is there anyone else out there who also had a hysterectomy but experiences endo pain??? If so, was it similar to what I’m describing?? Thanks in advance for your help!!
Avatar f tn I am 20 years old and have been diagnosed with endo in june when i underwent a laparoscopy. The drs found a significant amount of endo and said that they had removed it, but i am still in a lot of pain. I have had two periods this month which isn't fun for anyone normally, but its just cruel for someone with endo! I have been looking into a tubal ligation as it is reversible and i would love to have children in the future. Does anyone have any experience with this? did it help at all?.
1151690 tn?1263504682 Ultrasound showed nothing. My Dr thinks it is Endometriosis. My mother had it as well (before her hysterectomy). I still want one more baby :( What are my chances of concieving again if it is Endometriosis? The most painful days are on CD 7 and 8 - just after my period. But most of the month there is always a dull ache.
1214188 tn?1272324207 is it time for me to have HYSTERECTOMY and accept the truth.......? last laparoscopy i had 6 months ago, my last period was excrutiating, pelvic area felt like on fire for 2 weeks than it stopped........i felt fine....next period is comming i feel it....
1253584 tn?1332877954 1 is I could get the shot and it would put my end in remission but will also put me n menapousd or 2 have a hysterectomy. I have no kids and always dreamed of having one. But its not looking good.
231903 tn?1281482584 I suffered from endometriosis for 11 years before finally having a hysterectomy. I had lots of laparoscopies because it always came back. But I think that you should have one for sure. First as you said at least you can confirm or rule out endo. Second if you do have it and it goes untreated the longer you wait the more it may become difficult to get pregnant when your ready.
505857 tn?1329681517 i had a laparoscopy on wednesday i was told the surgeon had removed adhesions but i have no idea how i got these or how they started. I have never had open surgery before, could these be from endometriosis?
605458 tn?1539228808 I was just diagnosed by laparoscopy with stage IV endometriosis, adhesions, endometriomas on both ovaries, etc. I'm betting I've been suffering from its existence long before I actually had the severe pain that sent me to the ER every time I had a period because I'd been to doctors with chronic bowel problems and distention and was diagnosed with IBS, which has very much improved since some adhesions and the cysts were taken care of during laparoscopy.
Avatar f tn I had laparoscopies beginning at age 15 because of severe endometriosis, I am now 29 years old & have had 6 laparoscopies. My last surgery which was a year & 3 months ago I went in for a routine laparoscopy & was waken up after what was supposed to be a 30 minute surgery turned into 2 hours. The doctor (which was never discussed or mentioned in office visits of what could possibly happen once I was opened up or what to prepare for the worst).
Avatar f tn they were all great but I am still scared that I will never feel normal again. This is my fourth surgery in seven years including a complete hysterectomy. This is my first attempt at excision and I could use some reassurance from any of you who have had success with this surgery....thanks!
Avatar f tn I want to recommend, crwstar, if you have any endometriosis, ask them to excise, not laser burn. I did this for my hysterectomy, but was burned when I didn't know it with the first laporotomy. I later learned that it is better to cut than to burn, because the body treats the burns like foreign bodies and more scarring can happen. Adhesions are no fun.
Avatar f tn endometriosis of ovary, Endometriosis of rectoviginal septum and vagina, Endometriosis of pelvic peritoneum, before my consultant said I also have adenomyosis, my next surgery on 3rd October to remove all endometriosis..I'am really tired of this disease, its true this disease destroy your life, relationship, work, family, everything....
Avatar f tn out of my previous hysteroscopic myomectomy (with laparoscopy to clean up some of the endometriosis adhesions -- she recommends I add a laparoscopy this time to, to do the same), but agrees there is some risk of not having symptom resolution of the cramps, since those intramural fibroids can't be removed, and that the bleeding submucosal fibroids may return. I need that crystal ball to see when I might anticipate menopause! Arghh. But I have to do something...
Avatar n tn With a partial hysterectomy your uterus is removed and the cervix and ovaries are left. You can not carry a child without a uterus. Have you talked to a doctor about your options? Does he think a partial hysterectomy is necessary? Have you explored other ways to treat your condition? Birth control pills are actually a great treatment, it actually helps with the pain and can help shrink the implants.
Avatar m tn I have had painful periods for a few years and they have become heavier with many clots since a laparoscopy 4 months ago where they found some endometriosis that they cut away. Every doctor is pushing birth control because I'm "too young" at almost 38 yrs old to have a hysterectomy. I have had issues with OCPs in the past with moods; causing terrible mood swings. Every doctor keeps pushing the hormones, though.
Avatar f tn I've never had a surgery before and I'm nervous. I will be having a cystectomy on my left ovary (golf ball sized cyst inside my left ovary, most likely a cyst of endometriosis). I've never had a breathing tube in...support/encouragement needed.
Avatar f tn I am 17. I was diagnosed with endometriosis in November 2009. I had a laparoscopy and I am currently on the 6 month Lupron shot, but they are not working so my doctor wants to send me to a specialist. My question is what would be the next step (if anyone knows), as in what else can they do?
Avatar f tn I had a laparoscopy to get my tubes removed last Monday and they found a lesion behind my cervix sent it out for biopsies and came back as suspiciously endometriosis! My dr doesn't think it's endometriosis I'm very fertile i have four kids ages 9, 6, 4 and 2. I've been having a lot of pain especially during sex but I still have the same pain maybe a little worse so I don't understand.
