hysterectomy

Avatar f tn PVH-Partial Vaginal Hysterectomy, even abdominal procedure, still the risk factors and complications remain more or less the same. Post surgical complications are pain, bleeding, infection.Other side effects of surgery are Hormonal changes (preserved ovaries?) estrogen imbalance, decreased testosterone-finally emotional changes of mood swings-Increased risk of cardiovascular and skeletomuscular diseases.
Avatar f tn But the risks and side effects of hysterectomy involve a much longer list than prolapse. I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago and speak from experience as well as the knowledge I have gained since undergoing this damaging surgery. The bladder and bowel descend without the uterus to separate them and hold them in place. Even absent prolapse, this often alters their functions. I experience intense pain when both my bladder and bowel are full. And they sometimes do not empty completely.
482924 tn?1333203671 s push for a hysterectomy because they make good money from them and will continue making more money off of you, because of the side affects and complications. If interested I have tons of info on hysterectomy consequences and I will share more of my story if you would like. Just please do yourself a favor and at least seek a second opinion.
Avatar m tn I recently read that one of the side effects of circumcision is meatal stenosis and that uncircumcised men don't suffer from it. Is that correct? Also, would this side effect occur if a male had a frenoplasty? Do any of the other side effects of circumcision apply to a frenoplasty?
Avatar f tn I am 35 and recently undergone hysterectomy operation and two ovaries are left. The cause for this is uterine fibroid and a nabothian cyst in the uretus and right hydrosalpingitis. My Dr. told me if I want to keep my uterus, i need to undergo surgery of uterus removal after some time. Hence, I requested her to remove uterus as I had already undergone caesarian. Now, I am afraid will I need any hormonal tests ? How do I survive ? Will I get a menopause or any side effects.
Avatar f tn Sometimes hysterecomies or myomectomies are indicated, while other times they are optional, as the side effects and potential complications may not be worth it. You should have a discussion with your doctor regarding the benefits, risks, and alternatives. Most hysterectomies are nonemergent, so you have time to think about what you want to do.
Avatar m tn I was admitted again because of my pain and unable to barely walk or eat . I was told It was just gas and and to eat soft food and was released. Five days later I was in so much pain and dry heaving and went numb. I thought I was dying and to be quite honest I wanted to. Emergency admitted me this time because I they thought I might have an infection. I was given antibiotics for 3 days and finally an enema worked and I passed a lot of black liquid.
725741 tn?1245086607 wow we have something in common Im getting pimples since my hysterectomy too, Your not having pms symptoms your having post hysterectomy symptoms...very similar..I use Sea Breeze an alcolol based ski cleaner with a cotton ball solved my problem. Very very often for reasons unknown the uterus removal effects ovarian function by decreasing it.
Avatar m tn ve questioned the side effects of the Novasure and was told it was unrelated. I found that hard to believe. I had the procedure done in 2007. My bladder is out of control. I also have other complications within my digestive system. I've never had no health issues. I am during more research. It is another patient that goes to the same therapists for bladder therapy who also has the same problem after the novosure. Hopefully we can get some answers and results.
Avatar f tn ), went back today, and he burned more stuff off, and cultered, and sent my urine to lab. I have an ultrsound scheduled for next tuesday. Could I have an infection in my womb from the surgery, or could the coming and going of pain be scar tissue? Or worst yet, even though my pathology report came back benign, could ovarian cancer still be developing even though they removed everything but my appendix? Thanks anyone for their advice!
Avatar n tn Option 2 is something to think about, however as I discussed about scar tissue, you will get it,,,my ovary became wrapped in scar tissue and was attached to my bowels lead to lots of complications,,A hysterectomy has lots of pluses and minuses at your age, Of corse you will be thrown intomenopause. have you tried Leupron its an injection that will put you into a chemically induced menopause, I have heard many negative side effects as far as emotions running high, crying spells etc.
Avatar f tn I was just thinking about the pain during labor and im super nervous on what i should do.me and pain dont get along! Are the side effects from a epidural really bad and do it last a lifetime ?
Avatar f tn Hi Gayleen, I am going to suggest you consider it is time for a change in the dosage of your patch. I am hoping you are on a Bioidentical patch... all of the info I am about to share is info regarding this type of estrogen patch. I don't know much about the synthetic patches and from what I have read, you will not get the same type of relief since there are "issues" with the synthetics... dose often not high enough...
18070169 tn?1463175914 At this time I was also taking zolpidem every night. I read some stuff on zolpidem side effects and it appeared that after my surgery some of the rare side effects started cropping up. I attributed my anxiety to that. So I quit the zolpidem ct (which I probably shouldn't have) and did have a miserable few weeks, but a lot of the pains I was feeling went away. Of course new pains showed up like a back ache, which I still have.
Avatar n tn Hi there - Since you just had a hysterectomy, I would recommend taking the antibiotic. Your surgery was very recent, and things are still healing, and this makes it easier to get complications from a simple infection like bacterial vaginosis (gardnerella). I understand that you are opposed to it, but I am guessing at some point, you got some antibiotics in the hospital or during your surgery. That's common.
Avatar f tn I just had a total hysterectomy February 11th. dr. gave me a hormone shot the day after my surgery. and I'm not sure what the symptoms and side effects are. but I do know I have been super moody. very fatigued. and constant body aches.
120574 tn?1240767840 I too am on Avastin, but with daily cyclophosphamide pills and I'm not having many side effects either. I will tell you though, that I am exhausted lately...I'm assuming it's the Avastin. I had my last treatment last night and I feel ok today - really wiped out. I do tend to get mild headaches too, but never anything to severe. I would say that fatigue is by far the worst of it - so bad, it's making me mildly depressed. Thank God it's over.....for now!
Avatar n tn com , they focus on hysterectomys, surgery types, treating side effects, etc. They also have a free booklet they will send you on the topic.
Avatar m tn As far as needing to be on one of these drugs; you always have to weigh the benefit compared to the side effects and make a decision as to continue the drug or not. Your Oncologist would be able to advise you since he/she has all the medical information necessary to make such a decisiion. I don't think taking something to counteract bone loss is a waste of time though ..... every little bit helps. Don't apologize for the venting ...
Avatar f tn I have tried Arimidex, Tamoxifen, and Femera with no luck. Now the dr would like to do a total hysterectomy. I am 45 and stopped having periods 3 years ago. Is this beneficial or not?
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy and am suffering the many after effects. Knowing what I have since learned and experienced, I would not allow a hysterectomy unless I had cancer that was confirmed by a biopsy. And I would be sure the consent form clearly stated what type of surgery could be done. I hope this info helps!
Avatar f tn Will a hysterectomy correct a prolapse bladder? My mother is in her 70's and constantly has to go to the restroom to urinate she also feels the bladder is fallen and complains about the discomfort she feels in it hanging.
