hysterectomy

955060 tn?1251260239 Hi. I'm 26, have three kids and on August 6th. I'll be having a total hysterectomy. I've been dealing with severe endometriosis since I was 16 (shortly after the birth of our first daughter). it has spread and gotten so bad that I have to take prescription pain pills for the pain. I sometimes have to skip doing things with my kids (ages 10 years, 2 years and 2 months) because it hurts so bad.
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome to MH, Im so sorry your thinking of a hysterectomy as a form of birth control, your frustrated and dealing with a toddler can be quite a job, I know you likely wont like what I am about to say but I must be honest, ok, first off your too young, I am 99 % sure no doctor would consent to a hysterectomy for you with out a serious medical diagnosis, second you dont know what the future has in store for you , you may decide later to have more children.
Avatar n tn It has only been over the last two years that I have had real fluctuations in weight- + or - 10 pounds in a month, and sweating, above the shoulders sweating, drenching my head, hair, face, dripping from my upper lip and forehead. Extreme sweating at night and severe dry month when I wake in the morning, and intermittently from time to time during the day. I will get hoarseness in my voice from time to time, and have had lingering headaches that seem to just hang around for days. My Dr.
Avatar m tn Ok so in 2012 I had a hysterectomy but they left my ovaries and tubes in tact. I am nervous because Friday I go in it has my tubes and ovaries removed as well as thinning of scar tissue from my hysterectomy. What do I need to expect as well as recovery since I have 3 kids under the age of 6. Also any information on different hormone replacement therapies would be much appreciated.
Avatar f tn On my father side my aunt became infertile at a young age due to pre-cancerous tumors on her ovaries and had them removed at age 30. My grandmother also had to have a hysterectomy for the same reasons. It's been two months and although my fluid filled cyst has gone away my solid cyst (or what the doctor sometimes refers to as a tumor) has not. They ordered a CA125 test and my blood levels came back elevated and borderline. i have not received another test yet.
Avatar f tn They wont do a hysterectomy on you. Youre too young. And no, once you get a hysterectomy, you dont have any more periods. They take everything out (uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes) for a complete hysterectomy making it impossible for you to have children. Your doctor can give you medication for nausea (metoclopramide works wonders) and may do a D&C. Best of luck!
888637 tn?1241034907 s bearable and I can block it except when once a day or so I get a serious contraction that has me paralyzed waist down from pain, moaning and gasping and sweating and shaking and nauseus for about 15 to 20 minutes. it even hurts to breathe and by the time the "attack" is over, I'm drained and scared to death. Last year my doctor did a laporoscopy to see about taking out the "endometriosis". Well, there wasn't a single one she saw!
1086111 tn?1256514891 My doctor has me coming back November 19 and he wants to a hysterectomy Laparscopic hysterectomy but i don't know if he is going to do a complete hysterectomy or not that is why i go back to him on the November the 19 and he will let me know if he is going to do a full hysterectomy or a partial hysterectomy.
Avatar n tn I had been fighting for this hysterectomy for years, but I was always told I was too young and that I might want to have more children. 1 child, many burst cysts, and 3 miscarriages later, they still wouldn't do a hysterectomy. I sought out a lot of different opinions, and they all came to the conclusion that I was "too young". It took ten years, a good OB/GYN, and a lot of me suffering, to get the hysterectomy I needed. If you are young they may try to force you to wait.
Avatar f tn 39 years of age is quite young to have even a partial hysterectomy done, so there has to be some reason for the suggestion. Do you have bad endometriosis? Some other problems? I would definitely find out exactly the reason for the suggestion and get a second opinion from a reproductive endocrinologist.
733497 tn?1231721078 They will do everything in your power to keep your uterus. I am 26 now and was 25 when I had my partial hysterectomy but I had already had three kids and my tubes tied.
Avatar n tn I had the hysterectomy because I had a prolapsed uterus. I was 23 years old when I had it. I am now 28 years old and my symptoms are the same, if not worse. I have in the past 3 days started to feel even worse in that I am severely emotional. My husband and I are very concerned because now over the past few days we have tried to have sex and though my whole heart and mind are in it I spend most of my time feeling like a robot trying to get my body to catch up with the rest of me.
Avatar f tn s hard to know if the problems are from the repairs/sling or the hysterectomy. Hysterectomy causes the bladder and bowel to drop down which can cause problems with elimination. Constipation is common after hysterectomy due to the displacement of the bowel which of course can cause hemorrhoids. And as Dr. Wanjari mentioned, vaginal atrophy can cause pain with intercourse. But the shortening of the vagina with hysterectomy (with removal of cervix) can also be a source of pain.
Avatar f tn She said thats not going to fix the problem you need a hysterectomy. 13 years of heavy bleeding and severe pain on left side and dermrod and 2 other kinds of cyst removed.
Avatar f tn If she was a young woman when she had the hysterectomy, and if they also removed the ovaries, it seems as though they might have asked her if she wanted HRT. The fact that they did not, suggests she didn't have her ovaries removed. Ask her doctor to find this out, and go from there. Also talk to her ob/gyn just about the headaches. Those could be hormone-related.
Avatar f tn I'm 24 years old and I'm scheduled to have a complete hysterectomy next month on the 24th. Can anyone tell me what to expect after surgery, please?
Avatar f tn I am schedule to have a hysterectomy in a couple weeks, and my concern is will my stomach go back to normal? Will I gain weight? Should I diet during recovery. Can't afford to buy new clothing right now... Will my sex life remain exciting?
Avatar n tn With a partial hysterectomy your uterus is removed and the cervix and ovaries are left. You can not carry a child without a uterus. Have you talked to a doctor about your options? Does he think a partial hysterectomy is necessary? Have you explored other ways to treat your condition? Birth control pills are actually a great treatment, it actually helps with the pain and can help shrink the implants.
386450 tn?1263733624 Bill marries Nicolette, and then Margene, so he can continue to have more and more children. But guess what? Barb doesn't die and now Bill has three wives. Last season they touched on a recurrence that turned out to be a false alarm. I was hoping that it would be a bigger part of the story line so that it could raise awareness.
Avatar f tn There are a lot of books written by women who are suffering the after effects of hysterectomy and did not get informed consent. And there are entire websites for post-hysterectomy support. There are also some good books about the overuse of hysterectomy by some physicians. A couple that come to mind are "A Gynecologist's Second Opinion" by Dr. William Parker and "The Hysterectomy Hoax" by Dr. Stanley West.
Avatar f tn t Agree To It Because Sometimes The Procedure To Get Your Tubes Tied Ends Up With Complications Leading To Needing A Hysterectomy.
Avatar n tn Recently had an hysterectomy and a unilateral oophorectomy and was released from hospital with no info about hormone treatment, whether its necessary or not. Will follow up with my gyne but wanted to get feedback from others. I don't want to grow facial hairs if can be avoided.
Avatar f tn Those ligaments keep the hip bones, spine and rib cage where they belong. Everything shifts after hysterectomy. This leads to back and hip problems and reduced mobility over time. It also explains why women's figures change after hysterectomy. Studies show an increased risk of thyroid and renal cell (kidney) cancer after hysterectomy even when ovaries are left in place. You said you had surgery to remove some of the "endometrial tissue." Was this inside or outside the uterus?
Avatar f tn However, because of that (vanishingly small or even impossible) chance discussed above, if you have been having unprotected sex and are young enough to have viable eggs, and then feel pregnancy symptoms, it is not entirely foolish to take a pregnancy test.
Avatar f tn I would have a detailed converstion with your doctor. I too am a runner. But I just had a normal redical hysterectomy and I was able to return to running. I would say it may take you alot longer to heal, but I am not a 100% sure you will not ever be able to run again.
Avatar n tn Do not get pushed into a hysterectomy,I was and I did not know you could have fibroids removed,I asked and was told there was no treatment for them,l I understand know is wrong so please dont just be told hysterectomy is the answer because its not and I am regretting it.
Avatar n tn I think you should definately give your body a chance to heal and grow stronger and then have tests and evaluations and take your time to make an informed decision. Hysterectomy should be a last resort, especially if you are young. Get more oppinions.
589148 tn?1218752415 I am 25 and had a hysterectomy one year ago because of the same reasons, I thought that would fix everything, but now I have other problems caused by the surgery that i am trying to figure out and my endometriosis is now back. This is a big decision, and I wish you all the best, I would just advise to research as much as possible.
