222282 tn?1210164939 If extensive ischemia or necrosis is the result of an injury, the ureter injury is best treated by excising the injured segment of the ureter and reestablishing continuity with the urinary system. If the ureteral injury occurred above the pelvic brim, the simplest reconstruction is a ureteroureterostomy, a procedure that is indicated for injuries to short segments of the ureter (ie, <2 cm), in which an anastomosis is performed between the 2 cut edges of the ureter" www.emedicine.
Avatar f tn From what you wrote above, it sounds as the uterus has swelled. The uterus swells and than lays on the ureter and blocks it. Than urine can not come out of the kidney and kidney damage can set in very quickly. Hydronephrosis (kidney fills with fluid) is the name and it is a very painful condition. You can not have a blocked ureter and at this point believe me it would be much more painful without the stent never mind the destruction of the kidney.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately during surgery the doctor knocked a hole in my bladder. My ureter swelled and kinked. Two days later I had stint put in my ureter. The stint stayed in for nine weeks. I continued to see the urologist for a year and did well. Now I am beginning to have a lot of pain in the kidney and area of the ureter. I have to urinate often, otherwise "'m in great pain. Has anyone experienced this? I'm in the process of scheduling a cat scan.
5318203 tn?1366353424 When you had the cystoscopy, the surgeon must have found something not right with your ureter and that is why a stent was inserted. Has your consultant said when it is likely they will take the stent out? They usually give an indication when this is likely to be. My friend actually had kidney failure last September, and had a stent put in. She still has it in now. She is to have a full hysterectomy, a vein cleaned out and a growth removed that is attached to her heart muscle on tuesday.
Avatar n tn I take Phayzme (simethecone) after each meal and at bed time and I still do, it does help. NOT diagnosing you but after a total hysterectomy it is a fact that the GI tract "drops" and can just "hang there" but for many of us when the GI tract drops adhesions cause it to "stick" to anything, the wall of the pelvic cavity, to other parts of the GI tract, around a ureter. Many possibilities.
Avatar f tn ve had a hysterectomy, left ovary with cyst removed, 8 ureter stents, ureter reconstruction, left kidney removed and a bladder sling installed. In amongst those, I've also had 3 partial bowel obstructions and a lysis of adhesions. I feel as if I have another bowel obstruction and have been fairly sick lately. My gastro will only order a KUB Xray. This Xray has never shown my obstructions in the past. For the past week, I haven't passed any stool.
Avatar m tn I've had pain, bleeding, and unbelievable tiredness since my da vinci robot assist hysterectomy. In fact, I had to undergo an emergency surgery 4 weeks after my actual surgery because the robot knicked an artery. I severely hemorrhaged from that mistake. Still today, now 6 weeks later, I'm bleeding and have excruciating pain in my lower right pelvic area. I'm so depressed, I'm having to take anxiety medicine.
Avatar n tn I would hope not as I have had blood in my urine for the past 3 months and no one mentioned it to me. I have had a hysterectomy my ovaries are still in. but geez I hope that means nothing. I don't have any infection either.
584880 tn?1218295380 My daughter was born with a duplicate ureter on her left side and the extra ureter was not draining into her bladder. It caused her to have constant uti's, leaking of urine and a greenish-yellow pus (due to infections). It took 4 1/2 years for dr's to finally figure out what was wrong with her and nonstop persistance from me. Her left kidney also has damage now but the right is totally fine. She had surgery over a year ago and is doing well now.
Avatar f tn I have had bladder and kidney infection since I was seven. I had bilateral ureter reimplantation sugery at 21. A hysterectomy and oopherectomy due to endometriosis and polycystic ovaries at 29. Now I am having heart symptoms. I have had 2 abnormal EKGs, 2 echocardiograms showing an ejection fraction of 55% and then 3 months later 50%. I also have low blood potassium and high potassium in a 24 hour urine test. I am tired and my blood pressure is low all the time now.
5833870 tn?1375118376 I have tried just about everything from various birth control, meds, surgeries, chemically induced menopause and the hysterectomy and nothing seems to affect the progression of this effing disease..
Avatar n tn I have been dealing this for quite awhile now I've tried different birth controls, had many scrapings done, I'm now on lupron injections. I've had 2 so far but now my pain has gotten worse and I'm bleeding a lot. I've asked about a hysterectomy but i'm just not sure how i'm going to react to it. I'm 28 yrs old and done w/having kids. My tubes are tied too. Does a hysterectomy cause bone issues? Will i have to take hormone supplements?
Avatar f tn I am 31 and had a partial hysterectomy march 12, 2013. Took only my uterous and cervix due to Adenomyosis. the dr. left my ovaries(even though I have had reaccuring cyst all my life) said he didn't want me to go through menopause. Ever since the surgery I have had constint bladder pain. At first they said I had a severe bladder infection. Was put on an antibiotic, that didn't help. Put me on another, still no help. Put me on a third one and it seemed to clear it up, 6 weeks later.
Avatar n tn Had hysterectomy april 26th and bleeding daily till it turned bright red doc said would need to schedule another surgery to re-stitch vagina cuff. Had re-stitch June 7 with yellow discharge doc said was normal and at 5 week appt said all looked ok.. Next day started bleeding bright red & doc gone on vacation. Saw another doc who said didn't see where blood could be coming from & shouldn't bleed anymore. Wrong, still bleeding 7 days later.. Took pics to show doc it was bright red.
Avatar n tn Last year the cancer had spread to my left ureter and I had to have my plumbing rerouted. I have had a complete hysterectomy in the past with chemo. This time, I had six weeks of radiation directed at my ureter. Now I have metastasis to my liver. My MD says it is about 3/4 of an inch big. I also have breast cancer. My ca125 has gone down to normal after 3 chemo treatments. Do you think this means I could be cured, or could it be that it will spread when I finish the chemo.
Avatar f tn The forum hystersisters is excellent as it has a whole section on endometriosis and how women have dealt with it through hysterectomy or other means. Take a look and I do understand how you're feeling. It's a very hard thing to come to terms with as a woman. Look after yourself and don't be afraid to cry when you need to Prayers sent your way.
1034241 tn?1252721169 My concerns are the fact that I have an ovarian cyst with no ovary. And that I am being tested for ovarian cancer. HOW CAN THESE THINGS HAPPEN after a Hysterectomy? ANY IDEAS LADIES?????????????? I am waiting.........
Avatar n tn There is mild dilatation of the left renal calyces and of the left renal pelvis. The left ureter can be seen arising from the mildly dilated left renal pelvis and appears of normal diameter. Features suggest a mild pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction. The previously noted cortical cyst is noted to lie immediately adjacent to the left pelvi-ureteric junction. The left kidney otherwise appears normal. No abnormality is noted in the left ureter.
714049 tn?1232641094 (prior to my kidney stone attack) and had a upper GI endoscopy (I think thats what its called) and a CT w/contrast, and colonoscopy, all came back normal. Last week I decided to start taking probiotics and I am feeling better, but I cannot miss taking it a single day because the nausea and pain returns.
Avatar n tn When the kidney floats down, the ureter kinks, causing an obstruction. If they did an IVP laying down and one standing up, they might see exactly what is going on. I've been talking to a couple of ladies that have been through pyleplasty for obstruction in thier ureter. They would know much more than I on that subject. Their nix is wildrehab & got_my_life_back. Not sure if you could do a search on medhelp. Wildrehab just had pyleplasty a few weeks ago.
Avatar f tn Thx for your response I have passed one of the stones in the hospital a few days ago still have another in my right ureter and a 7mm in my right kidney and several small stones 35 wks pg now and they are going to induce me in two weeks due to the kidney stones causing contractions and wanting me to have lithotripsy after her birth. I was told I wouldn't be able to pass the 7mm stone without intervention what are my chances with that they said its in the middle of the kidney.
Avatar f tn Is it normal to have extreme pain in the ureter and in the bladder from a stent? I have been to three urologists in the last 5 weeks and nobody will give me answers.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have one atrophic kidney and the other kidney is compensating for this and is now 15.6 cm in size and emptying slowly. After tests and scans I was told that the ureter has a bend in it and the renal pelvis is distended. This was found out a year ago and no medical staff actually did anything about it other than test my bloods, do ultrasounds and a nuclear tracer to find out my situation, but nothing has been actually done.
Avatar f tn The only way to completely rule this idea out is a CT. Seveal things can cause hydronephrosis. They are crossing vessels that lay on the ureter and cause an obstruction, another is a floating kidney tat drops down when you stand up, and of coarse if you had a stone blocking the ureter. One of the things that can go along w/ hydronephrosis is UTI. This is because the urine stays in the kidney too long and causes infection to build up.
Avatar f tn Hi. I was diagnosed with endometriosis on my ureter, bladder, and behind my uterus about six months ago. I had a laparoscopy (also six months ago) and the doctor got rid of most of it, but was unable to get rid of what was on my ureter, because she said doing so could cause a blockage and cause me more problems. I'm really suffering with frequency and urgency with urination.
2167803 tn?1338529751 About 5 months ago same thing happened and several tiny stones were seen in left kidney, ureter and bladder. The urologist gave me antibiotics and I drank a lot of water but pain in bladder was not over.I had another ultrasound but this time there was no stone in ureter, kidney or bladder but for the last about 3 months I have been feeling pain, burning and warmth in my urinary bladder and urethra especially this increases when i urinate.
727136 tn?1231182664 You name it, I had it. My left ovary was enlarged to size of grapefruit, wrapped around my ureter and the artery nearby, then that was all plastered to my left pelvic side wall. I opted for total hys due to endo, etc. I have 1 happy, healthy boy - he's almost 10! Anyway, the Dr. told me the day after surgery that he had to "chisel" out all the tissue he could but I would have to have surgery again due to tissue growth - this time it would have to be with a GYN Oncologist.
