Hysterectomy and rectocele surgery

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and rectocele surgery

hysterectomy

1840640 tn?1318613270 Thank you for your reply. I have allready seen a surgeon and I do have rectocele. My question was "why was'nt it taken care of when I had the hysterectomy and cystocele surgery" ? seems like a waste of time and money to not do all procedures at once. There must be more to it . I feel good other than pain from rectocele. Mabe my Dr. wanted to see if my intestines would go back to their normal position after Hysterectomy surgery.
Avatar n tn I think it takes time to heal after a rectocele surgery. I think you're coming along fine. Your surgery was in Oct, how do you feel now? I just has the surgery on the 15th of Decemeber......healing is taking longer than I expected, but I'm doing okay. Is your life back to normal? I'm wondering if I'll ever feel "normal" again.
Avatar f tn I am 48-years old, diagnosed with gastroparesis back in May, hypothyroidism in June, and rectocele/rectal intussusception this past week (in October). I am status-post three c/sections, abdominal hysterectomy (still have my ovaries), and a ventral wall hernia repair while they were doing the hysterectomy due to compromised fascia that would not hold my organs in.
Avatar n tn Looking for a second opinion my Gynecologics feels that I need to have my uterus removed through the vagina so the can repair the rectocele and the weakness of the back wall of the vagina. They feel it might not take a good effect otherwise. I have never had any bowel movement problems or urine leaks. Thanking you in advance for your response.
Avatar f tn What I want to know is how long before the surgery should we use the estrogen (I have both vagifem and estrace cream)? I had a hysterectomy, total and done vaginally, in Oct 2009, then bladder fell 2 months after, had the cystocele repaired and then around 6 weeks later the rectum and top of vaginal vault fell. I have had a pessary in for around a year to hold it but it is getting so hard to have a BM. I want this rectocele repair to be the last surgery!
Avatar f tn I actually lost a few more pounds with the surgery-I have other health issues and I weighed 76#s at the time of the surgery and dropped to 72#s, so they kept me on an I.V. the entire time. I am not a doctor, but from my own experience, I would never have gotten the hysterectomy, because I read-later- that it like removing the anchor to your pelvic floor. My hysterectomy caused my enterocele & rectocele.

Avatar f tn I had hysterectomy and rectocele surgery done on Friday 2/13/15.. I'm not superstitious so the date don't matter...haha! But I did have a lot of scar tissue from having my cervix removed in 1993 from cancer and had a lot of scar tissue from endometriosis, and from several lapriscopes so my surgery took longer. The sent me home that night with a script of oxycodone/as a 4.835/325mg. This only my 3rd day I understand.
Avatar f tn ve seen a gynae who wanted to do nothing for over a year and insisted on ring pessaries and pelvic for exercises. Things got worse and she is now considering rectocele surgery and possibly cyctocele but she's sent me for urodynamics study first. So I decided to get a private 2nd opinion cos I'm only 38 and I can't keep going with my vagina in the state it is.
Avatar n tn bladder prolapse (cystocele) and urethral prolapse (urethrocele) and rectal prolapse (rectocele). He stated that surgery would be the only option to corrent these problems. He suggested a plastic ring thing but this does not interest me at all. He said my bladder was extending past pelvic bone during stress situations (coughing, sneezing). I am scheduled to see my GYN in a week and a half and the Urologist said she will make the surgery decisions with me.
Avatar f tn How complicated is the surgery to repair the cystocele and possible rectocele--is that an AP repair? Also how long would I stay in the hospital--I was given a pamphlet about these urogynecologists in Denver, and in the pamphlet they do talk about minimally invasive surgery for the cystocele with prolapse repair (without hysterectomy-already had the hysterectomy) or graft ad mesh repair for cystocele.
Avatar f tn I am 42, I had grade 3 rectocele, and grade 2 cystocele repair 4 months ago. I have had sex probably 10 to 15 times since surgery, everytime it is incredibly painful. Also, can not stop taking MIRALAX. Will I ever get back to normal, or will sex always be this way and will i ever get off MIRALAX??
Avatar n tn 5cm and is causing complications with bowel movements, both at the site of the rectocele and higher up, which requires me to splint both vaginally and rectally. I have found a urogynecologist who is very honest in stating that she is having difficulty in deciding whether to suggest surgery or not. She would be using mesh and if I had the surgery I would need to decide between synthetic or porcine.
Avatar f tn An year ago I had a resection rectopexy done by a colorectal surgeon for the intussusception and six weeks later a vaginal hysterectomy and rectocele repair done by a gyno. (No mesh was used - only dissolving sutures) I continued to have discomfort with my bowel movements and 10 months after surgery my colorectal surgeon has advised me that the rectocele has got worse and he suggests that I have a starr procedure to fix it. I am aftraid of more bowel surgery.
Avatar n tn , but now I have a larger cystocele. I believe the dr. would to the davinci method and give me a complete hysterectomy and use mesh to attach it to the pelvic bone. Is it better to wait or better to do it sooner than later.
Avatar m tn My bladder seems to be working about the same as before surgery I have a tiny amount of leakage. I had cystocele, rectocele, and prolapsed uterus so he said he had to remove the uterus in order to do the surgery. I bought some digestive enzymes and actually the last two days have been better. The gas and bloating are better in the morning and as the day progresses it becomes worse. I fell like I have to have a BM in the afternoon and evening, but I can't.
Avatar f tn Sinde you have uterine prolapse, it makes perfect sense to to a hysterectomy at the same time as doing the cystocele and rectocele.
Avatar f tn I had surgery in October for a fairly large rectocele. After the surgery the rectocele was not completely dealt with, and I ended up having a second rectocele surgery done in February. I now no longer have a rectocele, but still have the same bowel issues (actually worse) that I had before the surgeries.
Avatar n tn Well, another doctor needed the operative reports and the hysterectomy was totally unnecessary. My uterus and ovaries were completely healthy. The fibroid was very small and not the issue at all. 4 months after the hysterectomy I had an enterocle/rectocele repair, and my life has been nothing but miserable since then. I now have another rectocele.
Avatar m tn I had a repair for a rectocele and an entrocele and at the same time a hysterectomy. The hyst was done vaginally, the repairs were done laprascopically through 5 incisions. I am still having heavy discharge vaginally. I still have incontinence at times, and at others I am constipated. I am afraid the op has not been totally successful although the doctor says it will settle down. Has anyone had the same experience?????
Avatar m tn so 6.5 hours of surgery and I was good for 11 months before the pelvic floor dysfunction and weakness of my pelvis allowed another rectocele to form and so I had that repaired with sutures only from my vagina...now my vagina is more angry then before, my urethra is painful do to pfd which is spasms in the pelvic floor muscles...
Avatar f tn ve had surgery for 3 types of POP (cyctocele, rectocele, enterocele), grade 3, and I was extremely happy with the outcome. Some women are happy with treatments, some prefer surgery; it depends on your personal scenario. I do recommend women try treatments first, you generally know pretty quickly if you will be happy with that or if you prefer to go for a permanent fix.
Avatar f tn I had a total hysterectomy march 2016,@19..iam now sexual active but the problem is iam feeling pain when urinating and also smelly brown discharge.what could be wrong?
Avatar n tn Wow that's so nice to hear that at 6 weeks your feeling good. I go in the 27th for my surgery and I'm so nervous but anxious to feel better (eventually) too. Can I ask what did they do for support once they removed your uterus? What degree were your cystocele and rectocele? How is going to the bathroom after surgery? I'm so afraid that afterwards I'll go to the bathroom and undo things or something. Do you have to be on a restricted diet at all?
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy last June. They took my tubes but left my ovaries. I had fibroids, and the surgery has helped me amazingly.
