Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and rash

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy 3 days ago and have noticed a rash near the incisions...not directly on the incisions. Also, there is a similar rash under my breasts and along my c-section scar (from 25 years ago). I used to have severe problems with hives many years ago, but have not had the problem lately. I'm hoping this is not a return of same....or something more problematic. Please advise. So far, there is no itching, but it's very red.
Avatar n tn Hi, just wondering if anybody experienced hives on the entire body after total hysterectomy. Even after having been injected with antihistamine and stopping the prescribed antibiotic on the 5th day instead of 7 days as prescribed by the doctor, the rashes continues. Are these rashes a result of a low immune system caused by the operation (total hysterectomy) or by something else? Also, when I scratch my skin will show some yellow bruises. Is this something to be alarmed of?

Avatar f tn I had my hysterectomy on August 22 of 2006, I was 36 years old, started having thyroid pains within eighteen months of surgery. Cysts in both breasts within 3 months of my hysterectomy and again a year later. Cysts on ovary, now I've been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer (papillary) at 38. Could there be a connection between the Hysterectomy and Thyroid Cancer? No major problems before hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications. So check out the medications, clothes or toiletries that you are using as these may be triggering the hives.
Avatar f tn The insurance would pay for this type of termination of pregnancy. It is considered medically necessary for her to have her hysterectomy. Why can't she just call the GYN and talk to the nurse and see what kind of an issue/problem this presents for the hysterectomy? They usually don't charge to talk to you on the phone. Plus since it's her choice to terminate the pregnancy. I'd ask about just going on with the hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn m sure your rheumatologist will give you a thorough looking over and order more test. Be sure and keep a journal on symptoms. Even if you think they aren't important. Also keep track of your activity. Like I was in the sun this day, but had a rash this day.
Avatar f tn Hello, A year ago I started having pain and itchness inside my left breast nipple. No discharge, no color change or rash. I went to the Dr. and had a mammogram, which showed nothing. I went back to the Dr. last week because the pain and itching has increased. The Dr. order another mammogram and talked about having an ultrasound, a biopsy and dye injections.I had the mammogram to be told there was nothing there come back in a year.
Avatar f tn 2 of my doctors told me not to have it but when I needed a hysterectomy, I had the suspension done vaginaly and glad I did! That was over 20 years ago after we moved, was having some issues and had to find a new urologist. He did biopsies and diagnosed IC. Actually, he did DMSO bladder infusions and I have had no more problems. You stink like garlic for a day or so. About 4 years ago, began having problems with dry mouth and throat and globus.
Avatar n tn For the last several months I have had a rash under my left breast and sometimes under my right one also, I just figured that was due to heat but it comes and goes, but about 2 weeks about I noticed my left breast was very itchy just around my areola and nipple, when it started it was just a small almost looked like a insect bite but now it is spreading but only on the areola and now it is on my right areola starting the same way they itch all the time my nipples itch also but i dont see anythi
Avatar n tn what cause vaginal bleeding, and odor after having a total hysterectomy?
Avatar f tn ll want you to try a ton of different birth control pills and meds, and estrogen-stopping meds before you get the hysterectomy, because the hysterectomy is permanent, and even at 39, they don't think we can make our own decisions regarding having children or reproductive health. Get the cysts removed if they don't clear up with your next period, or if they are masses, but remember that the more surgeries you have, the more scar tissue you'll get. (Totally a double-edged sword here.
Avatar f tn I have GAD and panic disorder and am getting ready to have a vaginal hysterectomy. My obgyn suggested taking my uterus, cervix and left tube and ovary. At first I thought I wanted him to take the right side as well but I'm just not sure. I am scared with having the anxiety problem anyway that it will throw me way out of wack. If I leave the right ovary will it help regulate my hormones or will I still need HRT.
Avatar n tn I have had no outbreaks in the last 10 years or so....I had a hysterectomy including cervix over 2 years ago and thus going through surgical menopause....Ihave had a stressfull event in my life in the last 2 weeks...something like this would have normally brought on an "outbreak"..but what i have is a rash of 4 bumps on my chest under right breast that itches soooo bad ....its exactly like the sores that came with an outbreak.....
Avatar n tn Hi, I had ovarian AND uterine cancer, at the same time. Boy, I wish I'd had a hysterectomy younger! If it were me, I'd have my uterus removed in a jiffy. Recovery really isn't bad at all.
Avatar f tn There are a lot of books written by women who are suffering the after effects of hysterectomy and did not get informed consent. And there are entire websites for post-hysterectomy support. There are also some good books about the overuse of hysterectomy by some physicians. A couple that come to mind are "A Gynecologist's Second Opinion" by Dr. William Parker and "The Hysterectomy Hoax" by Dr. Stanley West.
Avatar m tn I am 43 and had a full hysterectomy 6 weeks ago but prior to that was having menopause symptoms. I went on the Vivelle hormone replacement patch the day of surgery and everything went away. Even all my menopausal symptoms prior to my surgery. I don't have any issues at all.
692643 tn?1372611227 I've had the same thing with BP, and hard to get off Cymbalta, it's not that effective as a frontline anti-depressant, there a others in the mood stabilzer category that will work better, I'm on Lamactil, and it's been a godsend. If you look at that med, there is a warning about a rash, but it's very rare, and going up on that med slowly (25mgs/week) will usually negate the chance of that rash ocurring.
212059 tn?1292938529 I've read several posts indicating that pvc's tend to calm down after menopause. I am 44 years old and have had PVC's for close to 20 years. Now that I am peri-menopausal my number of daily pvc's has increased from 50 to 100 per day to 2,000 to 5,000 per day. I just found out that I have stage 4 endometriosis requiring a hysterectomy. I will be instantly thrown into menopause. Will my pvc's end? I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.
Avatar f tn Hello, A total abdominal hysterectomy removes your uterus through an incision in your lower abdomen and it also removes the cervix. Sometimes a hysterectomy includes removal of one or both ovaries and fallopian tubes, a procedure called total hysterectomy with salpingo-oophorectomy. Abdominal hysterectomy usually requires a hospital stay of one to two days, but it could be longer.
Avatar f tn In my opinion, your worries are not unfounded. I have heard similar stories from other women (or their husbands/partners) after hysterectomy. It really messes with our hormones. I lost my loving feelings for my husband after my (unwarranted) hysterectomy. I don't even have the strong maternal feelings for my children. It makes me very sad and I held onto a lot of anger for a long time (I am still angry with my former gynecologist/surgeon).
Avatar f tn Only way to get pregnant after partial hysterectomy is the cervix wasn’t closed completely and a microscopic opening is there, or tubes wasn’t separated and closed in the stump. It’s so rare for this to happen. Better chance at winning the lottery.
Avatar m tn s any connection between the breast calcification and fibroids. Hysterectomy is a very destructive surgery and you don't need one for fibroids since fibroids are benign. Fibroids shrink after menopause and of course bleeding does too. Hysterectomy trades this temporary problem for a whole new set of permanent problems. You can eat foods high in iron or take iron supplements to increase your iron levels. Taking iron with vitamin C will enhance absorption.
351724 tn?1267537018 Yes...regardless ..they take everything out anyway your uterus, ovaries and cervix UNLESS yours is not a radical hysterectomy just partial that's different story. Sunes.
Avatar n tn Has anyone has a hysterectomy and a tummytuck together? I have an enlarged uterus and a fibroid, but my stomach is a mess after having 3 c sections. I have a huge vertical painful scar and a extremely poochy belly. I always had a great tummy and now it's just a fatty blob, stomach muscles stretched etc,, I havent talked to anyone yet about having both procedures, justr wanted to some opinions of others who have done it or thought about it.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing severe pain and discomfort from a combination of ovarian cysts and fibroids for 3 years now. I was treated with birth controls pills and then steroids and nothing has worked. I just got back the results of my most recent ultrasound. I have 2 cysts on an ovary and 2 fibroids. The doctor has talked to me about a myomectomy option vs. hysterectomy for the fibroid removal. I don't know which way to go on this.
Avatar n tn He said if he sees endo all over he is suggesting I have a hysterectomy. I am 39 years old and done having kids. I am unsure if a hysterectomy is necessary.
