Hysterectomy and pmdd

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and pmdd

hysterectomy

I was just curious to see if anyone else has had problems with severe PMS (or PMDD), along with their diagnosis of complex ovarian cysts? My cycle has been irregular for the past 6 mths. (been 3 mths. since my last period) I am 48 yrs. old, so I know this can be expected at this age. Also, I had light bleeding for 6 weeks in this time, which prompted making the appt. with the gyn/onc. But it seems when I start having symptoms of starting my period, (which I am now)...
I have been dealing with hypothyroid since birth, and between my thyroid levels being low and the PMDD, I want this to all end. I have an appt to see my gynecologist on Thurs and want to know if you think I should ask for a hysterectomy. I had an ovary removed 27 yrs ago and want it all out, what do you suggest?
I am currently taking Fluxentine, (anti-depressant) which helps but my symptoms do not fully go away. I am 43 now and was wondering if having a hysterectomy would get rid of my PMDD? Also, there are anyone out there that experiences a rash before your menstrual period?
I had a partial hysterectomy this last November. I still have my overies and tubes. I'm not sure about the bleeding. My Dr. told me that I need to come in and see him right away if I ever have bleeding because they close you up so nothing can get in or out. Maybe it might not hurt to get a second opinon? About the mood swings, I hear ya! lol Before my hyst. I had really bad PMDD about a week before my period. I still have that, but not as bad. My Dr. put me on an antidepressant and vit.
I also have pmdd and panic disorder. About 10 weeks ago my pmdd was so bad I ended up in a psych hospital. I did not harm or attempt to harm myself, but did have suicidal ideation and basically had a nervous breakdown in front of my therapist. My question is: If I have both ovaries taken out, will my panic disorder get worse? I know that pmdd goes away in the absence of the ovaries, but my concern is HRT. Will it worsen my anxiety condition? I take 20 mg. celexa and .
I have fibroids in my uterus and ovarian cysts and pretty sure I have endometriosis. I also have pmdd. I'm very concerned about HRT after the surgery. I have anxiety problems and am hoping this doesn't make it worse. Can anyone tell me any of their experiences with this?
No, it's not PMDD. I have a pretty classic case of Bipolar I Disorder and the condition responds to the therapy I get that is specifically for Bipolar Disorder. I do some wicked PMS, but not to point that it qualifies for PMDD. The surgeon has already explained and given me information about the type of hysterectomy he would do, so I'm assuming that means his plan is to do that in the event that I can't get the hormone. Another thing I worry about is weight gain.
Friends are concerned that I want to do something so drastic as hysterectomy, I'm fine with it and so is hubby, he was fixed after 2nd child born 4 yrs ago. I don't want to live like this anymore. What should I do??
He also said that he could tell I was quite miserable, and recommended a hysterectomy. I turned 31 on July 13, my surgery was July 15. I am two weeks and a couple days post-op right now. I have not had a migrane since and I cannot tell you the relief I feel of never having to have a period again. No more pain, no more rashes, no more wearing Depends to bed in case I overflow in the night.
it helped me alot and i had pmdd before my hysterectomy...mine was june 2011 for removal of cervical cancer i've been on premarin ever since, it does work ask your dr what he thinks.
I'm 40 with a history of pms/pmdd and pcos. Had a total vag hysterectomy ( both ovaries removed) 2 weeks ago. I feel I made a mistake having a total. I thought the hormones could be replaced, but my gyn says I don't need progesterone because I don't have a uterus. I use a rx spray estradiol. But, I thought my probs were due do estrogen dominance.
I'm just curious to know if anyone here in this forum who has panic disorder had a total hysterectomy. I want to know what recovery and hormone replacement was like. And if the hormone issues caused your panic disorder to worsen. Thanks!
I have fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cycsts and pmdd. I am very concerned about HRT. Will my panic disorder get worse after my hysterectomy? I am overcome with worry. Please help.
I am about to begin a 3-month regimen of Provera (1 pill a day for 10 days X 3 mths) for heavy bleeding, so I don't really have an answer for you yet. I am hoping for positive results, but, to be honest, I'm not holding my breath. As insane as it sounds, I was really hoping the doc would just move straight to a hysterectomy and skip the "trial" treatments. Female "issues" run in my family, and I am not interested in trial runs.
I am becoming somewhat frustrated with the way a lot of my colleagues practice medicine. Disenchanted, angry would be the other words that could be used. We all get ostensibly that same training and all of us are supposedly in it to help our patients. So, how come have I been getting so many letters lately on my addiction forum from desperate people unable to quit taking the tramadol pills that their own kind doctors have so freely prescribed for them?
I have 6 children and I hate to throw leftovers away... I think thats my problem) Last year I had a hysterectomy and now have to deal w/ estrogen injections that put and extra 30lbs. on me... before Topamax .. I started on July 28th at 220lbs... as of today I'm at 194lbs.... To me that is A MIRACLE.... That Phen stuff does not work for me... Adipex makes me grumpy when I come off of it.... and my doctor said Xenical and Meridia cause really horrible bowel problems.....
If you remember, I have panic disorder with agoraphobia. I also have PMDD. When I have my PMDD my anxiety and depression becomes unbearable. Two weeks out of the month. I am 43, am having a full hysterectomy in two weeks. Do you think that will aggravate my panic disorder? If you know anything about endocrinology, what would you suggest for my hormone replacement therapy? I am just now feeling semi-normal after being on celexa 20 mg, klonopin .
The relief from the pain and relief of all the crappy monthly symptoms is the next best thing to a hysterectomy. And, it's a certainly a LOT easier than having your uterus removed. I am so grateful that my GYN gave me the merina IUD as an option.
Both PMDD and PMS share symptoms in common that include depression, anxiety, tension, irritability and moodiness. What sets PMDD apart is its severity. Women with PMDD find that it has a very disruptive effect on their lives. Please read on to get more information about PMDD -- what it is, how it is diagnosed and how it is treated.
Mild dysplasia and HPV was found when a pap smear was done. Next, they did a colposcopy and claimed there were no abnormalities. (I should add that I was prescribed Ponstel nearly a year ago to combat the cramping) The next month after the colpo, I had several symptoms I had never experienced before and found them bizarre (insomnia, extreme moodiness, depression, lack of appetite, fatigue, anxiety, and several other symptoms normally associated with PMDD).
Have you ever considered PMDD? Look it up. I know quite a few woman that suffer from it! And a lot of woman with endo and pcos have it! Just a thought!
I think everything is over and I clean up. I walk out of the toilet and in about 2 minutes time the stomach cramp and the fainting sensation comes back (I've fainted only once to date from this and was out for about 15-20 minutes). 6. When I get back to the toilet I have a really violent Diarrhoea episode in pure liquid state.
I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago at the age of 29 after suffereing from PMDD. I have only recently started using HRT in the form of Estreva Gel. I was wondering what the possible side effects are of this HRT as I have been suffering from muscle ache and lower back ache on and off since starting this HRT. Is there any relation to the achy muscles and the medicine? I would appreciate any advise on this matter as I live in a foreign country now and have no support. Thank you.
Have had PMS since I was 20yrs old. I am 44 yrs old when I 1st went to the doc to tell her that the mood swings the hot flashes, tender breast, bloating and you now the rest. I explained that i would experience this all month long until the week of my period. they said that isn't true you only have PMS 1wk before or 1wk after.
I hallucinated several voices and believed what they said... all good, like I was going to save the planet. I am a wife and mother and it is freaking me out. It culminated into a panic attack which I was hospitalized for for 1 night. I am seeing a pyschiatrist who isn't sure what it was. I was placed on birth control because it coincided with my period. I am also taking an antianxiety/antidepressant.
He also said that he could tell I was quite miserable, and recommended a hysterectomy. I turned 31 on July 13, my surgery was July 15. I am two weeks and a couple days post-op right now. My son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes last summer and I had to have a full hysterectomy because of 4 years of suffering from PMDD. So the doc, took a short cut and treated me with the meds, and will get the diagnosis later to see if this might be a cause. The strangest part is the pulsing through my torso and i can't bend over (head build pressure) and i get the PACs throughout the day and with position change.... but hey, nothing like a good mystery huh.....thx for your help!!!
I had a complete hysterectomy two months ago because of PMDD (age33). In getting my estrogen levels to what I needed, i went low. among other symptoms i got atrophic vaginitis. NEVER had ANYTHING like this before. Crying pain-filled nights and days. thanks to this blog i was able to better understand some things. I tried: Coconut oil, pure lanolin, monostat 1% cream, aquaphor, neosporin, epsom salt soaks, diaper rash cream, A & D ointment.
