Avatar f tn Yes, it can, but you can also look at it the other way -- a big part of what protects us from mental illness are the beneficial organisms that live in our gut and intestinal tract and it is the disturbance of these organisms that allow yeast infections to find a welcome home. This often happens when we take antibiotics or eat too much sugar. Much current research is focusing on the connection between mental health and other diseases with imbalances in our beneficial bacteria.
Avatar f tn One theory is the increasing evidence of the essential connection between beneficial organisms that we think of in regards to the immune system and digestion but that also profoundly determine our emotional state as well. Antibiotics kill off these organisms, and sometimes the body can't recolonize them afterward. But that's just a theory.

Avatar m tn See, this is what makes the world interesting. I wouldn't trust Garden of Life. Their big selling point are soil organisms, which nobody has ever eaten, there's no independent research, and some of the most knowledgeable experts on beneficial bacteria believe some of them are toxic. Just goes to show.
Avatar f tn I had my hysterectomy on August 22 of 2006, I was 36 years old, started having thyroid pains within eighteen months of surgery. Cysts in both breasts within 3 months of my hysterectomy and again a year later. Cysts on ovary, now I've been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer (papillary) at 38. Could there be a connection between the Hysterectomy and Thyroid Cancer? No major problems before hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn The insurance would pay for this type of termination of pregnancy. It is considered medically necessary for her to have her hysterectomy. Why can't she just call the GYN and talk to the nurse and see what kind of an issue/problem this presents for the hysterectomy? They usually don't charge to talk to you on the phone. Plus since it's her choice to terminate the pregnancy. I'd ask about just going on with the hysterectomy.
Avatar m tn This is why you should take probiotics from the refrigerated section of the best health food store in your area to try to keep as many beneficial organisms intact as possible while taking antibiotics, and particularly after you stop taking them. This helps prevent the damage from antibiotics, such as yeast infections, fungal infections, etc. that can follow due to the die-off of beneficial organisms.
Avatar f tn Hi, In urine culture, the bacteria and other organisms responsible for a urinary tract infection grow on the media after a period of time, usually after 24 and 48 hours of incubation. If few organisms grow, the test is negative. If organisms grow in numbers large enough to indicate an infection, the culture is positive. The type of organisms causing the infection are identified with a microscope or by chemical tests.
Avatar f tn Yogurt is a prebiotic, primarily. If you buy most commercial yogurts, there are no live organisms in them, as they are killed during pasteurization.
Avatar n tn Ramp up your vitamin intake for a while and eat plain yoghurt with the live organisms. That will help restore the good organisms that the antibiotics destroyed.
Avatar n tn what cause vaginal bleeding, and odor after having a total hysterectomy?
Avatar f tn Tests may be done to determine the cause of intertrigo. A swab for microscopy and culture of micro-organisms to determine the responsible bacteria present or skin scraping is done if fungus is suspected. Treatment depends on the underlying cause, if identified, and on which micro-organisms are present in the rash. If this persists, have this evaluated by your doctor for proper management. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn m sure this study is too small to draw any conclusions from standing alone, but I do know that a lot of the most serious research being done today on the cause of anxiety and other mental illnesses is on the disruption so many people have today in their beneficial organisms. It is becoming clearer and clearer to researchers that healthy probiotic communities are necessary for mental health and disruptions can cause mental illness.
Avatar f tn ll want you to try a ton of different birth control pills and meds, and estrogen-stopping meds before you get the hysterectomy, because the hysterectomy is permanent, and even at 39, they don't think we can make our own decisions regarding having children or reproductive health. Get the cysts removed if they don't clear up with your next period, or if they are masses, but remember that the more surgeries you have, the more scar tissue you'll get. (Totally a double-edged sword here.
Avatar f tn I have GAD and panic disorder and am getting ready to have a vaginal hysterectomy. My obgyn suggested taking my uterus, cervix and left tube and ovary. At first I thought I wanted him to take the right side as well but I'm just not sure. I am scared with having the anxiety problem anyway that it will throw me way out of wack. If I leave the right ovary will it help regulate my hormones or will I still need HRT.
Avatar f tn I'm 26 weeks with my first child (baby boy) is it normal to have so much heavy discharge sometimes it itches or whatever my doctor gave me a vaginal insert cream because he thought it was a yeast infection but it came back immediately.. I'm a bit worried. And also I have really bad gas and it ***** cause I can't control it.. Any input ladies?
Avatar n tn m not saying do not tell your wife but rather you can tell her you had symptoms and were tested and were positive for these organisms. The problem is that she may develop symtoms and will need to be treated as well. If she ever wants to get pregnant and has these organisms she could have complications which can be serious.
Avatar n tn Hi, I had ovarian AND uterine cancer, at the same time. Boy, I wish I'd had a hysterectomy younger! If it were me, I'd have my uterus removed in a jiffy. Recovery really isn't bad at all.
Avatar f tn There are a lot of books written by women who are suffering the after effects of hysterectomy and did not get informed consent. And there are entire websites for post-hysterectomy support. There are also some good books about the overuse of hysterectomy by some physicians. A couple that come to mind are "A Gynecologist's Second Opinion" by Dr. William Parker and "The Hysterectomy Hoax" by Dr. Stanley West.
Avatar f tn Is it possible that he could have had a disease (he had two partners before me) and that I caught it after i touched the condom then my mouth touched the condom during oral? My other question is that I washed my hands twice after the oral sex. Then about 4-6 hours later I touched myself without clothes on then I put my underwear on and grined up against something for a while.

212059 tn?1292938529 I've read several posts indicating that pvc's tend to calm down after menopause. I am 44 years old and have had PVC's for close to 20 years. Now that I am peri-menopausal my number of daily pvc's has increased from 50 to 100 per day to 2,000 to 5,000 per day. I just found out that I have stage 4 endometriosis requiring a hysterectomy. I will be instantly thrown into menopause. Will my pvc's end? I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.
