Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and older women

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn The insurance would pay for this type of termination of pregnancy. It is considered medically necessary for her to have her hysterectomy. Why can't she just call the GYN and talk to the nurse and see what kind of an issue/problem this presents for the hysterectomy? They usually don't charge to talk to you on the phone. Plus since it's her choice to terminate the pregnancy. I'd ask about just going on with the hysterectomy.
Avatar m tn I was knowing very little about sex but i had found those kisses and touches arousing and sometime i tried to touch her boobs and *** intentionally and she used to smile and it went on for few years. Now this altered my sexual orientation and i feel attracted towards older women and sometime lose control in public places where i touch them intentionally and many time i get positive response from them. But this is not acceptable society and i personally find it guileful.
Avatar f tn So now my doctor Says we can do a partial hysterectomy, removing the cervix and uterus and the tubes but leaving the ovaries. I have no history of any cancer is in my family. Says we can do a partial hysterectomy, removing the cervix and uterus and the tubes but leaving the ovaries. I have no history of any cancer is in my family. My doctor did not say anything about an organ prolapse for any long-term potential risks.
Avatar n tn what cause vaginal bleeding, and odor after having a total hysterectomy?
955060 tn?1251260239 ve read online about HRT has me totally confused. Both my older sisters have had a hysterectomy and they both feel great. I know one of them took hormones but only for like a year. How am I supposed to know what type of hormones I need or don't need? What things should I expect after the surgery? I also have heart problems(it beats too fast and my blood pressure drops like something crazy), will this affect my surgery? Or my recovery? I'm afraid of losing my mind afterwards.
Avatar f tn I am not surprised you have having pain and pressure after working out with squats and lunges. Some women can do lunges when instructed by a women physio therapist who can show you how to do them carefully within safe limits for you ( if this is possible for you to do safely) but without specific training with a womens physio I would not do any lunges or squats. Your body is telling you that doing this is not good for you operations/prolapses etc.
212059 tn?1292938529 I've read several posts indicating that pvc's tend to calm down after menopause. I am 44 years old and have had PVC's for close to 20 years. Now that I am peri-menopausal my number of daily pvc's has increased from 50 to 100 per day to 2,000 to 5,000 per day. I just found out that I have stage 4 endometriosis requiring a hysterectomy. I will be instantly thrown into menopause. Will my pvc's end? I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.
Avatar f tn You grow older and less active and your metabolism slows down and wala, you ain weight. I am saying, its not the hysterectomy if you are past menopause......I did not say that earlier....big difference......dealing with hormones can be tricky.
Avatar f tn I have GAD and panic disorder and am getting ready to have a vaginal hysterectomy. My obgyn suggested taking my uterus, cervix and left tube and ovary. At first I thought I wanted him to take the right side as well but I'm just not sure. I am scared with having the anxiety problem anyway that it will throw me way out of wack. If I leave the right ovary will it help regulate my hormones or will I still need HRT.
Avatar f tn Hysterectomy is a pretty big deal for women. It actually marks the end of reproductive ability, and for some women, the end of a sexual life, too (though this need not happen). After a hysterectomy, a woman needs, more than ever, a kind, supportive husband who has read a lot about the subject. You admit that you're kind of distant, which needs to change. I strongly suggest marital counseling. If your wife will not accompany you, go alone.
Avatar n tn Should a woman who has had her uterus and cervix removed (ovaries are left) take any HRT for hot flashes? It has been 10 years since my hysterectomy and the hot flashes have just begun. I was 42 at the time of the hysterectomy I am now 53.
Avatar n tn Well, first, it sounds like you haven't gone through menopause - but are dealing with effects of the ovarian cysts and weight. Have you been told by your doctor that you need a hysterectomy? Unless there are extreme problems with the cysts, I can't see any reasonable gynecologist recommending a hysterectomy - of any age or gender. I have found that younger female gynecologists tend to be a little more open towards women having their own opinions about their bodies.
Avatar f tn Hi There, The fact of the matter is that eating disorders are very common in older women and I think that the reason that it is not a well known fact is simply because as older women this is something that we hide pretty well. I am 38 "Soon to be 39" and I also have an eating disorder. I flip flop between bulimia and just not eating at all. I am 5'0" and I weigh about 113. I have a medium frame and I work out like a demon. I both love and hate food.
Avatar f tn If you have had your period since 9 and pain since 11 (similar to me) then it is a very good chance because the pain your are in and how early you got the pain that you have severe endo and if that is the case you need a top surgeon. Secondly. Once that surgery is done and all the cysts, fibroids etc are removed and you are put on medication this should help tremendously.
675329 tn?1297288378 my gyn plus gynoncologist say this is the very last resort as i have lots of adhesions and hysterectomy is dangerous. the gyn wants to do a d and c and stated this will cure the thickened endometrium. well, what about the ovarian cyst.
Avatar n tn ) He might just have a mental block that hysterectomy is for older ladies and sees you in some way as less desirable because of that. This one is easy to fix with sexy underwear and a racy attitude. But you need to know why your hysterectomy made such a difference to him. Very rarely, a woman gets a stretched-out vagina after many childbirths and if that is the story, perhaps your ob-gyn can suggest a surgical procedure to tighten the vagina.
401095 tn?1351391770 boosts levels of testosterone in men and estrogen and testosterone in women...I do know that if you have a reproductive gland tumor like prostate cance u r not supposed to take it...anyway i have been taking 10 mg for years but have never been diligent with it everyday...then my friend went to the doctor and she is worn out and he told her to take it....she is also a recovering addict...I was always scared it would make me grow hair on my chest so i took it in small doses...
Avatar m tn This is why women who have had hysterectomies have thick and shortened midsections and big bellies and usually back and hip problems long-term. The ovaries of intact women produce hormones into their 80's for good health and well-being. There are many medical studies that show the harm of hysterectomy and/or ovary removal.
Avatar f tn Will a hysterectomy correct a prolapse bladder? My mother is in her 70's and constantly has to go to the restroom to urinate she also feels the bladder is fallen and complains about the discomfort she feels in it hanging.
Avatar f tn ll want you to try a ton of different birth control pills and meds, and estrogen-stopping meds before you get the hysterectomy, because the hysterectomy is permanent, and even at 39, they don't think we can make our own decisions regarding having children or reproductive health. Get the cysts removed if they don't clear up with your next period, or if they are masses, but remember that the more surgeries you have, the more scar tissue you'll get. (Totally a double-edged sword here.
19592380 tn?1480606612 d like to know if any of you have had a hysterectomy in your twenties and whether or not there are still other women out there who support the decision to have a hysterectomy at this age?
Avatar f tn Be careful of having a hysterectomy without a suspension of the vaginal cuff as many women just get more prolapses of the vaginal wall and even the vaginal cuff later on. Can you see a womens physiotherapist for help with your pessary choice? Have a look at the wide choice of pessaries available and get measured by a Urogyne then get the right pessary for you. It is crazy to be told you cant exert yourself or bend over with a pessary in. I am shocked at this ridicuous suggestion.
Avatar f tn i would like ot know hwat may be wrong with me before i get a complete hysterectomy and get threw into menopause, and thw pain may still be there after the surgery.
Avatar n tn I googled a search for trouble urinating after hysterectomy and found you guys. I too have the same problems, pain in abdomen that doubles me over and problems urinating, but i always feel i have to go. I am in the bathroom every few minutes trying to go. This is my second bout since my partial hysterectomy on 10-07-08. I was treated for a UTI even though my urine sample was negative.
