hysterectomy and knee pain

I have no answer, but I sympathize. I have had no end of low back and knee pain since my hysterectomy. I was fine before my surgery. Now I'm messed up and want answers as to the cause and what solutions there are, if any. Hope you find the help you need with your problems.

I continued to work and approx 1 week later my right knee and lower thigh went numb. Have gotten an MRI of the lumbar spine (results negative) and cervical spine ( result was mild disc bulge at C3-C4 with patent neural foramina, no stenosis). Other significant history includes viral sepsis of CMV virus in 2009 finally treated with a few days of IV ganciclovir. Diagnosis of fibromyalgia followed this infection of CMV. No history of diabetes or hypertension.

but the thing is the pain and numbness reappears if I stopped the pain reliever. My question is, does the pain has to do with my hormones? do I need to take hormonal replacement pills? Will it lessen the pain on my knees as well? I dont wanna be independent on drugs specifically pain relievers..I need help..please.

My gyne told me the cyst is too small to cause this pain. It is only in the lower right side, and the pain radiates down to my knee. My period is quite heavy too. I am getting worried its something more. Does anyone else experience pain like this from a small cyst?

I had a hysterectomy in feb 2008 and i am 35 yrs old. since my surgery i have had extreme abdominal pain, back pain, leg pain,insomnia and grion pain. My doctor really can't find anything wrong with me. He now says its neuropathic pain syndrome but I'm really not sure what to believe any more. what can i do? Please help.....

m very lethargic and depressed. I have no libido. I have a lot of pain in my left knee and both hands for no apparent reason, I weighed 123 lbs the day of surgery and 109 when I finally left the hospital. I have gained back 3-5 lbs. I would like to know your opinion. When will I feel myself again, if ever? I was always very healthy, exercised and a non smoker. My son died of Hepatoblastoma at age 2 1/2.

I am desperately looking for a doctor in Syracuse, NY who can help immediately so I don't undergo an unwanted hysterectomy. I've had pain and heavy bleeding with no known cause since I was 20. I'm now 34. At age 29 two different doctors said it was endometriosis. I was dutiful, did the Lupron for six months, started on continued birth control pills to avoid having a period. It felt better without a period and heavy bleeding. But unfortunately, the pains came back.

Thanks for your input. I had specifically spoken to my Gyn about getting back on the exercise bike. We talked about it before surgery as well as at my 2 week check-up. I had been using the bike regularly as therapy for the knee scope I had done 5 weeks before the Hysterectomy. I'm not lifting weights or doing anything else that I was not doing pre-surgery. I just added back the bike and leg press.

Symptoms of premenopause are irritability and mood swings,hot flashes,night sweating,irregular periods,decreased blood loss during periods,dry vagina,breast heaviness and tenderness and joint and muscle pain. Treatment is by hormone replacement therapy. I feel that an evaluation by a gynecologist will be helpful. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.

t lay on my left side i get burning sensations in my back hip and knee and the outside of my left leg still feels numb and the last to toes i can't move properly and do not feel the movement. I am currently waiting to go to the pain management clinic but im sure they think its in my head. I am on Dihydrocodiene which doesn't stop the pain it merely helps it.

Once I got the cortisone shot the rib cage pain and stiffness went away as well as the leg pain and stiffness. I still had the knee pain and pain and stiffness in both shoulder, to the point where I still have difficulty putting on a shirt.

When I came off pain meds after the knee surgery, my shoulder and neck began to hurt. Did lots of PT and massage and chiropractic care and finally had shoulder surgery for a SLAP lesion and floating bone fragments. Because my neck hurt so much also, had an MRI on that with the shoulder surgeon. He said I had thyroid nodules, one particularly large. They biopsied the small one that seemed hard and it came back benign.

she said its all 1 big mass. I was in a lot of pain for 2 months, finally got on birth control and the pain has stopped. if a hysterectomy doesnt fix endo, why should I have one? I am 39.

What type of pain is this that hits the right knee abruptly even like lightning so swift, and travels from the knee straight through the thigh nerve and/or tissues, shooting straight to the joint of the thigh and groins that lasts at least one to two minutes. Sometime the pain is so severe even after it has left I can still feel the pressure it leaves behind.

m 48 and get bad leg cramps/pain and also knee and ankle pain, mostly in the evening. I have tried calcium, and magnesium supplements because I read they help, but I didn't notice any change. My doctor said in addition to being in menopause, I have no Vitamin D in my system. I read that this can also cause muscle aches. If you guys figure it out, please post and let us know. What I can help with is HRT.

There are non- or less-invasive treatments (physical therapy, pain management specialists, synvisc injections, custom knee braces) that could alleviate some of the pain and stave off the inevitable. You may be able to get relief with a partial knee replacement, if one side of your knee is significantly worse than the other. Good luck!

I have spasticity and quite a bit of pain in my knees. Most of the pain is along the side of my knee, but sometimes it's' up at the top of my knee in the muscles or whatever is above it.

I am just wondering how long it could take for a quad muscle to heal from a direct blow but with no bruising and if the weakness in the VMO muscle could cause my knee to pop and IT band to snap at times and cause pain in my pes anserine bursa. I did see a orthopedic who said he is not sure. X-rays were negative but I have a high deductable insurance so I am trying not to get an MRI.

I had some similiar problems. Some things to try is sleeping with a pillow between your knees and try upping your sodium and potassium intake - chips and bananas. That worked for me. Good luck!

I had a complete hysterectomy 2 years ago. I started having lower back & pain in hips and rt. leg, buttock within 10 weeks. I started with a burning sensation in lower back during sleep. Continued getting worse waking me. I started having trouble walking with much weekness on rt. side, but have times when hips lock or cause me not to be able to move my feet. I can't take normal sized stairs now, I have to pull myself or take them sideways.

I had a vaginal hysterectomy with lapraoscopy to assist. (cervix and uterus) 08/07. Dec I tried to have vaginal sex but the pain was so severe that I could not continue. I also had vaginal spotting that evening and the next morning had blood around my stools. Went to the doctor and he did an internal ultrasound of my ovaries and there appeared to be a small cyst. Since then I've been able to have intercourse without severe pain but still discomfort.

Within, the last three years I have had 6 knee replacements and 2 staph infection removals in the same knee. I started with dilauid 10mgand then my surgeon put me on OxyContin 10mg. However, my pain became worst so I was sent to a pain management doctor who know has me on 15mg OxyContin and 15mg morphine er.

i have fibro and arthritis and many other pain "things" and we(dr & i) hesitate on everything because more times than not it is the fibro and a TKR (both my parents have had this dad 2 (arthritis) and mom 1(socn)) they dont have fibro but depending on how long youve had fibro - i can only imagine the flares that would come after such surgery - i know what is involved in that surgery and i know what the normal people went thru - its tough on the leg and body for that matter please

Thanks for replying. My doctor has made no official diagnosis but asked me to bend and flex my knee and leg this way and that. She said that my knee joint is a bit loose. I'm getting an x ray to find out and physio but I'm still waiting on both of these letters to get to me. I'll use the codeine and I have laxatives at home. I've been drinking more water lately so a bit more might help.
